You can tell people who are dangerous by the fact that they hate anything that they cannot control.
🍎🗣Freedom
There's an irony here
Profundity
You think the government can’t control cars?
Just experienced this
I worked in a nursing home setting for years and the number one thing the elderly struggled with most was loss of the ability to get in a car and drive.
That's why car dependency is so insane.
I actually love driving, I love pickups and sports cars.
That's actually part of why I want transportation to be less dependent on cars - less people on the road in my fucking way.
Germany has one of the lowest fatality rates per mile, and yet has highways with no speed limits. America needs to top that shit somehow.
Yes😮
@hellomate639 I live in a very rural area and drive 15 minutes to work all rural country roads with fields. I drive through 3 intersections everyday I know people have died on since about 60 years ago. It can happen anywhere. Still don't agree with less car driving. It's the only way to get to work around here. And it is freedom. I'm a defensive driver, don't trust people with stop signs. I have literally seen semis not stop at stop signs. And locals. Just because it's a rural road doesn't mean not to follow road signs!!! It's infuriating. So just have to really watch and slow down.
@@sonyacarlson5881what is infuriating is city drivers on country roads.
@@sonyacarlson5881 Think about it less as "less car driving," and "more convenient destinations that encourage people to gather together and get to know each other."
I'm not anti-car, not at all. I'm pro "build walking, biking, and train infrastructure" on top of having great roads.
Some stores don't need to be in a strip mall, like TJ Max and Target. Stores like Home Depot are better in strip malls with big parking lots.
Basically, anything that can go in a mall can go on a walkable street. We can do better on urban planning design. There's huge room for innovation. We just need to get out of our own way.
blessed are those who are not offended by other people's freedom.
I’m offended by freedom that infringes on my personal freedom and privacy. That imposes itself on my consciousness and ego boundaries. That prods at me in the unseen spiritual realm and physically and sexually abuses me. And those who consent to it being diseases into their lives regardless because they are committing a transgression and it is sexually immoral even if they themselves do not regard it to be so. Their body keeps the score of the trauma as per the Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk book of the same name. They may have learned to callous themselves to deal with this harshness of life however regardless so many peer reviewed studies demonstrate that sexual abuse causes significant damage to the amygdala and a persons capacity to regulate their emotions. Not everything that is pleasurable to you is good for you in a holistic sense and especially illicit pleasure gleaned by ill gotten means will cause such confusion inside a person - how many boys have grown up feeling they were not heterosexual because they were abused by some perverted man and because stimulus-response would dictate that the body responds they have feelings of extreme depression, trauma, emotional scars that plumb deep at the betrayal of their trust and yet the body responded even so. They wind up as deeply messed up individuals in their adult years. People have all kinds of mental health issues from sexual abuse and that’s why 666 is a detestable way of life…
I have no interest in cars
cars are fine, i dont like the majority of car people tho. douche bags
@@leebennett1821 You don't know what you're missing out until you dive in and be open minded to live in the present and notice the nuances over time and how intriguining every aspect of a subtle world is in their own rights.
It depends if someone's freedom (i.e. choices) are degenerate/morally reprehensible or not.
Dangerous people are those who both shine when you’re down and hate to see you happy.
Die Menschen die Du beschreibst sind missgünstig aber nicht unbedingt gefährlich
Narcissist
Another prophetic analogy. The devil hates joy.
My ex hated my joyful nature
@@stacymethvin3426 Yeah, I'm sure. You were just a bundle of joy, lol.
"prophetic" 😂😂😂
So progressives. Because they want us all miserable.
Tadaaaa😂😂😂😂😂
A truly dangerous person is not the mischievous brat down the street. It’s a person who looks perfect and acts perfect, yet shows signs of psychosis. Meaning, their kindness is artificial and they wear a mask to hide their true intentions.
Correct: Kindness is fake and they hide their true nefarious intentions
You probably meant psychopathy, not psychosis.
100%
so all of society
You’re describing someone I know and try to keep my distance from as much as possible. Although, he does like cars. Doesn’t fool me though!
Hahahaha!! Society is finally catching on!! Lol! I lived through the 60’s with three little ones in tow. When I finally had a car at my disposal I declared “ this is all the woman’s liberation I need and want! Four wheels that turn!! “. I was a happy gal!!
Also, as a gen Z person who's fed up with the current state of the automotive industry, cars in the '60s were so much better. It was the time when cars had everything I need and nothing more: a big engine that's easy to service, simple mechanics, air conditioning and a radio. I currently drive a 2006 Mazda, sure that car has, in addition to the aforementioned features, a CD player (my dad's left old Guns & Roses, Nirvana, Bon Jovi etc CD's in the car when he passed it down to me, and his new car has Bluetooth) cruise control (which I've never used, my foot can modulate the speed consistently) and ABS (knock on wood, I never needed it yet, I was taught well).
I miss those. I like the car i have now, but it was made to hook up with apple, not android. Tecnology dpeant wprk how it is supposed to . Tho it could be my phone.
One thing not mentioned, you used to be able to fix a car yourself, but now you can't. You must take to the dealer.
Lol 😂 I love this 🌿🙆🏻♀️🥰
My Dad taught my Mum to drive in the 1990s when she was pregnant with baby #5! 😍
That was all the women's lib she needed too.
She kept on driving until she was 80!
You were hell on wheels.
Vulnerability....truth through comedy makes them feel exposed.
As someone who had a brain aneurysm at 19 and lost the ability to drive for a few years…I recently got that privilege back and it’s so freeing to just be able to go❤
That's why making society car dependent is dumb.
Conflating hating car dependence with hating cars is a mistake. Yes, some people hate cars. I love cars and trucks and hate car dependence.
I'm also not a huge fan of EVs as of yet.
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
As someone who had an itchy arse this morning, I liked your comment
I feel for you, and your predicament is exactly why all societies should be constructed such that there are viable alternatives to driving.
Bless you. I am pleased you survived that. I had an aunt who didn't at 38.
Those are two things that society generally takes for granted. Both are good for the soul.
that type of person must hate parking lots of comedy clubs
No, those lots are usually empty 😂
That's where THEY'RE in danger.
They must hate the show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
that's so witty lol
😂Good one!
I've always been a very independent being and loved coming and going as I pleased. After I was widowed the car insurance, license tags and maintenance became too costly on social security and had to give up my car.
My husband was a homebody, but he enjoyed riding shotgun on weekends. We would drive to the woods or an outdoor swapmeet or just whatever struck my fancy. I really miss him!
I live less than a mile to the market and walk over with a cart. I have friends who give me a ride to church and such. I miss just jumping in the car on a whim whenever I get a "scathingly brilliant idea" for a sewing or garden project. Planning things out in advance takes some of the joy out of doing some things.
I've gotten closer to one of my church friends who is also a widow, but she's a bit reclusive and I've been drawing her a little bit out of her comfort zone. It was a big deal for her to drive me to a farmer's market. She did enjoy it and I was glad to get the fresh fruits and vegetables and a couple of tomato plants.
Anyway, walking and sunshine are very good for this 77 year old body 😊
I had to choose between medicinal cannabis or driving.
Yes. all must be carefully arranged. I just hate it. You pass something interesting. but you can’t just hop out of the car and have fun.
Using Uber got just too excited .
I feel as if I am in jail!
Please know that I fully understand your present
position.
I am here with you.
Please take care, and God bless.❤😢
@@maryshanley329 Growing up my parents would drive from Los Angeles to El Paso, Texas and we only stopped for gas and bathroom breaks. My sister and I longed to see all the tourist traps we saw on the billboards along the road, but that never happened. When I got married my husband stopped anywhere I wanted to go to. I have some beautiful pictures of wild cactus flowers and lizards. We also stopped at every little mom and pop shop just to look. My husband would leave them a few dollars for the tour. I miss him so much, but have my memories and souvenirs.
Amen 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your story, Ana. I wish you peace and happiness from here on forward.
If you own a van, you always have a home
Brilliant ❤
I see you attended the Dave Foley motivational lectures.
nothing like being stuck in traffic everyday to let you know you're free
😂😂
In my country, many people have never had a car and would LOVE to be stuck in traffic under air conditioning in their own car. It’s all about perspective.
@ParteraQuisqueyana your country must suck. Please try and improve it instead of coming to my country
@mahikmamun3711 Nobody is "free". There's a huge element of work/effort/struggle involved which keeps life going. Historically this is what has been called the "struggle for existence". I think this is quite separate from the notion that a car gives a person a great deal of autonomy, privacy, and freedom to move.
Depends where you live ;) there's no real traffic where I am ❤
Dangerous people are those who have a lust for rules, any and all rules, rules for rules sake. They are attracted to authoritative positions, no matter how small it is.
As a German i have to ask you: was it a deliberate decision to give a perfect description of germanys government?
@@Lucky-tw5oc well the word government means authoritative direction or to control , to rule.. one cannot be surprised by what we got . '' in power ''
be sovereign.
Sounds enlightened, but the most dangerous people are usually rule-breakers in one way or another: rapists, murderers, fraudsters, corrupt politicians.
The kind of person you are referring to that has a "lust for rules" (bureaucrats) is annoying, insufferable, and sometimes infuriating, but not necessarily dangerous.
You said rules four times in one sentence, pretty sure that's against the rules.
People that are like this, hating comedians, hating automobiles and hating freedom for responsibilities in general, are virtue-signalling narcissists and also can be psychopathic.
You’re just throwing a bunch of buzzwords around you in an embarrassing attempt to sound like JP. I get what you mean, in that, those types of people are bad, and I agree. But please just shut your mouth. That's a stupid, inaccurate statement.
He’s just implying that the left wing are dangerous people, like you are also doing. It’s a dumb take and misuses and abuses the terms narcissist and psychopath which are already grossly over applied to mean “anyone I don’t like”
It's the Narcissism that's the issue.
Psycopathy + BPD traits mainly, is probably what I suffer from.
Love comedy and memes, always loved all types of humour, the darkest to the most relatable, driving actually seems to be prefered by psycopaths, they tend to love super/sports cars and trucks, just hate the idea of not being in control and having someone else cause an accident and hating responsibility is for sure something I have. It's almost in my being to defy those that wish to control me.
Virtue signaling narcs are the worst tho, I can't lie to you. 😂
What is the difference between standup comedy and motivational speaking?
Which side of the mic the depressed people are on.
Aren't they both on the same side though
😅
I swear I keep seeing you in these JP comment sections telling jokes, its like finding Waldo
That’s a good one
They are the same!
Not a comedian for sure!!
There should still be a simple car without all the fancy features. With windows that you manually roll up/down. For a low price. Basic reliable transportation.
Get a Dacia
@@InExcelsisDeo24**Mid-80’s Toyota pickup.
They do still make manual windows vehicles
@@kylewillis9198 Which ones? I'm curious
@@The_Devil_Himself well I know for a fact that Ford F-150’s can come with crank windows, and I know that most sun compact cars can still come with the crank windows if that is what you want. Options like crank windows and other basic stuff like power locks ect…. are ways for automakers to cut a lot of cost off a new car or trucks to make them more affordable for the consumer.
Two dangerous kinds: petty resentful dangerous people; honourable truth-telling dangerous people. The latter usually love cars, welding, pouring concrete and a good laugh.
I appreciate this comment. Not every dangerous person is bad or evil. The good ones are dangerous TO bad and evil people.
Sometimes the "honorable truth tellers" are people who are merely pontificating from a position of good fortune.
There is pride in this, and a lack of love and empathy for those who truly struggle. There's also this victim blaming about it, like everyone who struggles is just morally inferior.
This is equally problematic to the self-victimization. It's just a stupid Satanic circus of pride.
@@AriDanielsMusic Dr Peterson has other videos recommending being a dangerous person. He's dangerous, himself. So is Roseanne
Comedians are our best friends by doing our homework. Their job is researching , observing, and imparting truth in a way that makes us evolve. Laughter is the best medicine.
And if you’ve driven So California you’re entire life, you need so much comedy!

A truly dangerous person. Is someone who has nothing to lose. No comfort, no standing or no freedom. If you can only gain. You'll pull every move possible. With no thought or care.
Oh really. How can you be dangerous without a car. Are you referring to dangerously close to litigation. To put abusers in their place. I don't think so. Especially when you get threatened by the dangerous psycho who created the situation where you don't have a car.
Power people are the most dangerous evil people around. They can bully and get away with it by doing favors and giving cars to their cohorts. Men help men. God help a woman who gets corralled. That would be me. Very easily exploited. For my intelligence. I saw internet info. Send in the clowns. Send in the Guard/who was my hs friend. Send in the singers, the sports people. What's the matter with this woman. Which actor is available this week. Etc. Etc. I haven't seen my son after he got out of Iraq. If any man wanted me all he had to do was get his own head out of his ass. They all went according to the rules of Bob. To my detriment.
I don't pull moves. I hide from hideous people who hurt me without any repercussions to their own life.
@@barbarabrennan1753 seriously?
I'd rather face a person with a car. Than someone with a stout branch they just picked up. You sir. Have no clue.
Me, nothing to look forward to and just existing day to day. I wish people were nicer and gave advice on the internet more, instead of scapegoating and being generally of a "I have mine, could care less, go rot in the corner" mentality.
There are some gems of humans that try, and I'll forever be in debt to them for helping what little they could considering how though life is.
I don't really hate cars but I do think that public transport has a lot of potential to benefit everyone who can't afford one.
Exactly. Just take a look at Europe, especially a few years back in Germany we had the best public transport there ever was and the people weren't less free, quite the opposite. I like cars, but public transport is the way to go man. It's incredibly beneficial for the poor and the working class, when it's done right.
I think you guys are missing the point. He's not saying that public transportation is bad. All he is saying is that there are people (generally those who want total control over populations) who hate cars because it gives a person the freedom to go wherever they want whenever they want. You can take public transportation, but you rely on THEIR schedule & go to where they determine. There's nothing like being to get in your car and just go, and be able to change your mind if you want, and carry with you all the stuff you want. It's about freedom. With public transportation, you have to go on their schedules and you're limited in many ways.
@@abdullahkuzhan7247public transport and germany ? You must have skipped your history classes..... never a good idea......

You can tell people who are dangerous because they are people who hate ...
And hatred usually comes from intense insecurity.
nah, i hate serial killers.
It’s okay to hate some things, some people, some behaviors. Some things/people/behaviors are evil.
Hating evil is okay.
Wrong! Someone who doesn't hate anything is probably spineless and will go along with any horrible thing.
Yes, you’re right. Thankfully, most people who desire mixed-use transportation systems do not hate cars. They just know better than to force everybody to depend on cars for mobility.
I need a vehicle so bad. I miss my freedom.
Some of us hate psychologists because of the damage they have done to me and my sister.
A bad psychologist can do more harm than not. Jordan is not your typical psychologist though. He doesn't buy into modern modalities. He gets to the truth & isn't afraid of hurting your feelings. I love this guy!
@@laurae.4285 He gets to some truth, but he also has his own pride.
Psychology is man reasoning the spiritual realm, Christ rebuked the spirit of REASON. The Word has been my therapist. The only thing that helped me. ❤
@@seekingtruth1623 Could you provide some scriptural implication of this claim?
Reason is indeed subservient to God, but is not without its own merits. It's just not the highest good and can become an idol.
@hellomate639 Christ never reasoned healing, sicknesses. He always rebuked them. Reason is man's wisdom. It is below God's written word. In the NT, I remember years ago, there were 4 spirits that Christ rebuked, and one was the spirit of reason. Our thoughts are to be placed under the Word. Man's therapy/ psychology does not acknowledge the supernatural power of spirits in relation to sicknesses. Therapy is not healing. It is like going to AA. One can learn to live with the spirit, but the root is still there. Bondage. Deliverance is healing. Spiritual infirmities are mental and physical strongholds of the mind. The truth is blocked by spirits. Reading the word allows the spirit of God to communicate supernatural understanding to an individual as the individual grows in the wisdom of God. A verse will reveal the heart condition opening the path of awareness leading to deliverance. Bpd people, some, have placed man/ father/ mother/ above God. They continually seek a parent figure through partners. I wanted God to stop my pain by making them do right. That was wrong thinking/ stronghold. I didn't even know I thought that way, but a little purging brought it to light. I turned from God's way/ wisdom for my own. God recently answered me with not a God of bondage but choice and free will. I had in my past opened the door for entry. I then sought out ways to FIX it myself in other relationships. I was disconnected from God feeling abandoned. People pleasing or placing a man above God is idolatry of man. People who do this attract people who want worship, usually narcissists, and self idolatry. The two feed each other, and torment reigns for that is the purpose for the union, to get them to turn to God. The bpd wants the narcissist to do good. The narcissist wants vengeance and for the bpdp to become as he is. It is spiritual bondage of mental strongholds and spiritual infirmities. They both have left God because they want Him to do something for them. He will not go outside of His Word to accommodate us. We must FIRST leave our wants and do as He says, and then we have passed the test.We are to be as Christ, merciful. Not using manipulations/ withcraft or wrath. God revealed everything to me over years. It is a journey of healing and deliverance, men being made perfect. God told me that He is not in the pain or going there to fix the situation. He said I'm over here on the cross calling you to come and rest. My deliverance from mental torment came after I broke. I finally gave up on the situation. God said my pain was not from them hurting me but from me looking and giving them attention, I was led to JOB 21, 22. I CAUSED my pain when I focused on what the evil were doing, which is unhealthy and a sin. We have dominion over ourselves, not others. God said He is not going over to where they are to do what I want, He said He has passed His test, and that this is my test. This was given AFTER I said I will read after You fix my pain. We have dominion over pain, but we do not have dominion over others. He said HE IS WHERE THE SUFFERING ARE. AND THAT I am to pursue love, not give attention to evil.
I don't hate cars...I only hate those who operate them poorly enough to be a danger to others

those people are like those who celebrate freedom without thinking about the related consequences
@@aljonserna5598 Or the left lane assholes driving 5 mph under the speed limit exerting their "freedom" to control your movement.
I just wish we could stop this highway hellscape and actually get some pedestrian walkways in our cities and not just stretches of highway and strip malls
@aljonserna5598 Freedom is the most dangerous concept humanity has conceived of yet. To be truly free is essentially being deposited on a planet all by yourself with all the resource potential you could ever need or want, and being compelled to sort literally everything out for yourself, absolute freedom is not a concept I subscribe to, certain restrictions on freedom actually improve one's life, these things fall under what I call necessary evils, but I do think that the word "necessary" is often overshadowed unfairly by the word "evil"
I want standard transmission back.
I think it makes you a better driver and more in tune with your vehicle.

@@yummygummy2133maybe people prefer the standard way to drive, do u not like to learn new things?
Right now, it's probably the best anti-theft device you can get on a car.
I got mine brand-new in 2017, stock, roll-down windows, and it had been an absolutely amazing car for me. I'm aiming for 300,000 miles and all things being equal, I wager I can do it.
Window tinting - that instantly makes one’s car private. 😘
Car is not freedom, most often it is attached to maintenance of the grind
you mistook it. It's freedom because you can use it to go wherever you want, to get what you need, whenever you want, it's like the literal exchange in sacrificing your hedonist times to work for a future
@@aljonserna5598 sure, you can go everywhere with a car, but you don’t always need to go everywhere. If the USA invested more heavily into public transit and walkability instead of bulldozing walkable neighbourhoods to build more highways, you could easily substitute most of your city driving with walking, biking or taking the bus/tram. And all these methods of transit are much cheaper than driving.
Sure, there will always be outliers who live in the middle of nowhere and need to drive 50km both ways to get to work, but millions of people live in cities and other areas that have huge potential to be not car-dependant.
Refusing to work under capitalism or any ism is not hedonism
Human Future is dead, our souls have been sold to "progress"
Where ever when ever is a bold lie, the limiting constraints are too many to list, a couple being allowed free time/places and inflation of the "petro dollar"

Kind of.
He's a little off-base here.
I'm someone who loves sports cars and pickups, but I also love public transportation and nature. My love of nature is related to my love of 4WD.
He's reducing the walkable cities movement to car haters. I love cars, and I love walkable cities, walking around interesting shops.
If we were less car-dependent, cars wouldn't be so astronomically expensive.
My general proposal is that cars are not mutually exclusive with public transport and bike lanes. I actually think the right public transport frees up the roads, and gets a solid chunk of the slow drivers off the road.

But it is curious how famed and notorious people can say things with total authority with little context of meaning. Anybody who hates something has some kind of trouble if hate comes from a very bad emotional situation. If by hate cars he means “don’t like cars” it is a different thing.
Still these short videos can leave meaning out of context …….
Splitting hairs.
Anyone can comment without context.
Ironically you yourself prove that in your response.
You dont really think this is a %100 black and white stance being expressed here do you? Clearly it was a general, fleeting comment inspired by the context of their conversation.
The weird thing is you know that (or given that its obvious to anyone whose IQ even approaches their shoe size one would hope you know this), and yet you chose to disregard it just to make,..., errr,.... a "point" ?
Would you imagine if Angeline Jolie say these words by Dr Jordan. Won't you taken by surprise because she is ...smart ?
I retired my vehicle in Los Angeles about 4 years after I retired. I get around fine by Lyft and walking, which at my age is a PLUS for heart health. There were 6 requisite expenses associated with having a car in L.A. so I have more $$ now for fun .I don't miss it to be honest and I don't feel like I'm not "free". I show up where I'm supposed to and really want to be.
Oh thank god, cars and comedians and helping others are like my 3 favorite things.
I’m just learning sometimes I gotta help myself too, in order to be able to help the people I care about.

I particularly like this ensemble JP is wearing. The colours, fabric and texture. Reminds me of my father. I still have 2 jackets and a suit. One jacket is Harris tweed which is probably why I like it.
The most American thing, relating cars to freedom, and he's Canadian.
Both countries are very similar
@@Qwerzxcv954 the most American sounding band is Canadian.
@@AlbertBalbastreMorteCanadian Americana.. which band though? And from what part of the Prairies? 😂
I agree with a lot of Jordan’s points but not about car culture, it really isn’t as ‘free’ as people think… it’s far more reliant on government involvement and incompetency than other methods of urban mobility. Would be willing to sensibly discuss
The issue is you can't really compare a bike with a car. You can go from one side of the US to the other by car. By bike? Sure.. but who would now 😂
Plus with a car you can transport stuff 🤷♂️
The involvement of the government in the car's existence is not the same argument as the exceptional distance one can travel freely with a vehicle by choice.
Their is no other use of transport that is your own private house on wheels, a bike is private but it has no roof and one room for one person
I agree there are genuinely loads of advantages to cars, they can do wonders for people specifically in rural settings among many others, but whether they are an efficient way of moving people around medium to highly densely populated urban areas is a different issue and one on which a lot urban designers agree they just aren’t. Governments have many arbitrary laws about minimum/ maximum parking spaces and specifically design road infrastructure with car and not cycling or pedestrian access in mind, which is in effect shielding car use as a method of travel from the mechanisms and tests of the free market, which im sure you could all agree isn’t exactly freedom? If other transportation methods were given equal consideration by the government then the free market would ultimately prioritise the most efficient method of travel in each specific setting (i.e metro and bike in denser cities, cars in more rural areas and trains between large population centres).
@@sphor1004 it’s very true cars are way better at transportation for material objects however in cities the main flow of goods is the social capita of the people themselves, very few people employed in tertiary or quaternary sectors need to haul huge amounts of objects to their jobs, so using a car to commute everyday clearly isn’t efficient. if they took other forms of transport that took up less unnecessary road space surely the important business deliveries and other personal reasons for car travel would be faster with less traffic?
I have always been a fan of cars and the mechanical attributes that make them unique. I love the Trailer Park Boys, Ricky, Bubbles and Julian
It’s worse than that … it also includes hatred of horses… the original freedom/power factor, predating guns.
I was born 1984. I love cars
I love my car my truck and my solar powered toy hauler Rv lmao🍻🇨🇦 comedy is an essential part of a well rounded personality.
That what created me. A need to speak my mind unhindered. Thanks Dr JP
Jordan Peterson interviewing Rosanne Barr! What a world.
Love this man! He is right about 98 % of the time!
Prof Peterson, I hate comedians. I dont hate cars enough to harm them, tho neighbours from hell have driven me to hell. They are using motorbikes now too to WIND ME UP. Whats onstar. I hate cctv more. And I am phobic of mobile phones. I also hate ppl who use emergency services as weapons. Hope i didnt upset you.
Something tells me they're just having fun and you're taking it very personal.
@@DelightfulDissident my honest reaction to that is ' fuck off ' what the hell is the something telling you? I am in a living hell. Are you one of them. Are you a bbc representative. They blew my pleasant 19 years ago. The fkin nation is at it
And comedians condone it. And the living is in the here and now. Right now as i write to you kids teens young adults old enough to drive are cackling in shadenfreud.
Absolutely brilliant ❤, he says: " yeah, yeah.... like you know he has been in deep though about this!!❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉 Roxanne, why don't you know that?😅
thats good I didnt think to catagorize and apply the automobile one like that either. Thats why I love Jordan Peterson I rarely hear him speak and not gain something.
The automobile is the greatest symbol of Freedom humanity has ever developed. It's moreso than the aircraft, the gun, the computer, the internet, or the smartphone.
Baby boom
Which is why you need a license to use it, kids and the elderly are restricted from using it. You need gas, insurance, roads to be maintained, etc. Nothing freedom about that! Relying on others every step of the way.
Cars are enslavement!! To the pump, to the grid, to pothole filled infrastructure that ensures perpetual taxation. They're a money sink. Freedom?! Pfft. Cars are a curse.
Have you ever ridden a bike? It's a lot more free literally. Requires no gas and insurance.
@@nsiebenmor No it's not. It would take you weeks to ride a bicycle across the country. You cannot get anything done with a bicycle. You can't even bring your groceries home on one, or take your children to school. What a ridiculous statement.
The automobile affords an unparalleled level of freedom that no other invention in history has ever matched.
@@nsiebenmor Wait a second....are you conflating "freedom" and "free cost of operation"?
Are you practicing your stand-up routine? You got me.
I hate cars because they cause more unnatural deaths than ANYTHING and shred the environment into segments with roads. Im all for private transportation, but the automobile system is deeply flawed, and we can't fix it because it's so deeply entrenched into our civilization.
Cry about it
Yeah!! 👏🏼
Whoop! whoop! You gotta be free to feel free.
The car thing isn’t always the case in my limited experience. It only takes knowing one to know the signs.
Jordan, that's a false dichotomy. Large parts of cities hate cars because of: air pollution, safety of pedestrians and cyclists, and the pedestrians being confined to sidewalks in the busiest parts of those cities.
The bar majority of urban populations have to move to mass transit / walking / cycling, most cars need to go.
That’s just for city slickers
Hate cars? Cars are amazing... So are Harleys. And trucks. M1 tanks too, absolutely glorious. What was the other thing? 😅 Oh, yeah. Love Roseanne. Glad to see her again!
I have always despised them loud ass cars and I thought he was coming for me for a second😂
I'm a dangerous person :(
*I don't like cars or driving, to me they feel dangerous and expensive, not only the asset itself, but the maintenance costs and legal associated expenses.
No problem if others have them, but I really dislike the fact that nowadays they're a necessity*
...and you and I know you're not a menace to society
@@hectorortiz8224 I'm unsure if to take this as a compliment or insult 😂😂
@@sphor1004 😂😂 😂 I hear you, especially when considering that J.P. has used the word dangerous in the past to connote something positive .... Yes, I meant it as a compliment
Respect for saying that.
And at the same time, it makes me think you'd be a decent and aware driver.
I'm 50/50 with cars because yes, it's beneficial for me to have one, but it's a money guzzler and in an accident the car is like paper. But I still need it.
I don't think they're a necessity in the first place. They certainly are for some of us, but More just a matter of money and convenience for some people. I have a coworker who lives like a 10 minute walk from her job, and she still drives (and it's not, for health reasons, towards the top of K2, or through a shooting rally). It's a nice rounded street along the flower park. And I hate being reminded that I drive to work too. Because she hates it when I have to park in her favorite spot. But I drive for almost an hour, about 75% is the way over hills and in no-man's land, while she could be walking in the fresh air. I have a car to work, to transport my family and supplies.
While I agree that cars bring freedom and comfort, they still have their big buts.
I'll never forget what my dad told me when I got my driving license, that now I have one foot in jail and one foot in the grave, even if I drive like a god, I'll never know what kind of drivers will be on the same road with me. Three years after that we were hit by a drunk driver at the crossroads, who thought red lights meant GO faster.
More people should be dangerous like you!
PS: sorry about the length
Edit:
I think those who prefer to drive only see the benefits of driving, and I get it. But like I said, driving is not a problem for me, with rentals, bigger, longer or trailers...But I know not everyone is that responsible, I meet those drivers every day who overtake dangerously because they are in a hurry to watch the TLS. Or the ones who even though they know they've been drinking, or have used god knows what, and think how big macho they are, and how they know how to drive a car, and then they're on the road with us. At that point, those drivers and their cars become lethal weapons.
I think those who have been in an accident because of people like that will have this feeling of distrust in other drivers.
It certainly does to me.
I love cars and I love driving. I don't find them dangerous and driving doesn't make me nervous because I know how to drive. I don't care if they are more expensive, I would never choose to enter a big, dirty, loud, smelly bus filled with strangers, that doesn't go fast enough and it doesn't stop exactly where my destination is if there is the option to get there by car. I literally cannot remember the last time I took a bus. It was probably some time in 2018 or 2019.
Have americans (or canadians in this case) never heard of bicycles?
You don't need a licence, you don't get stuck in traffic, you get free excercise and can park it almost anywhere. Far more free than being stuck in a metal box surrounded by other metal boxes.
My God , Mr. Peterson, that is some deadly outfit (👍👍)you are wearing! Gees, I was bowled over. It might be the heat, though! GEEEES!
That must be why love genuinely friendly people and automobiles are my favorite things. My narcissistic parents have held me back for way too long.
I think Jay Leno likes old cars because he doesnt need to worry about the computer in it stealing his jokes
I'm as much a J.B.P. fan as the next guy, but I cannot understand why Jordan seems to love cars so much. They're dangerous, and lead to poor city design. I bike everywhere for my daily routine, and the number of times I've been hit or almost hit by a car is ludicrous. And I live in an area on the safer end of things. No, I wouldn't ban cars or anything like that, there are plenty of good use cases for them, but the fact is that (at least in the U.S.) we have an over-dependency on cars.
EDIT: To make my point more clear, I am not arguing against the validity of Jordan's point that cars are linked to a sense of freedom, but rather against the almost extremist stance he seems to be taking. I don't think that disliking cars makes one a dangerous person.
I've been endangered by cyclists, 100s of times as a driver. Many do not follow the rules and jump lights or do not stop at lights. You can make the arguments for and against both. It's not bikes or cars, it's the people driving/cycling who are the problem. If everyone followed the rules and showed consideration for other road users cars and bikes would be perfectly safe.
@@cherylwilkinson92 First off, don't mistake my unbelief as anger, I'm just trying to understand. I can believe that there were plenty of times you and a biker almost collided, which would have been bad for the both of you and certainly may have damaged your vehicle, but how exactly are cyclists a danger to you while you are inside your car? The only way I can see a bike becoming a danger to you is if a biker forces you to pull a dangerous maneuver, which I can't see happening all that often
@@ethantstanger fair enough you are entitled to your beliefs. I know what my experiences have been. Cyclists can be dangerous, they have caused accidents and even fatalities. My point is, anyone can be a danger depending on their behaviour. A perfectly safe world cannot be guaranteed by endless banning things and destroying people's freedom.
@@cvfgyn yes I do get the point about freedom, and it makes sense given his code ideals, but at the same time he just feels a little *too* adamant about cars being good imo
@@cherylwilkinson92 that's a fair point, one person can be a danger to others. But tbf I never said we should ban cars or anything like that, I'm not an extremist. All I said was is the U.S. is over-dependant on cars
Cars are moving prisons. Your “freedom” is closely monitored and authorized by a pure bureaucracy that requires constant payment both commercial and governmental. The public is manipulated via a mimetic trap to live in denial of the fact that they are in a prison. They also are causal for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. But do you babe
Synonymous to a controlled MONSTER, controlled Danger can also be beneficial for ALL.
Well I fit half the description of a dangerous person. I'm not keen on cars but I love comedy and I love comedians. Not all of them of course are funny, but you know what I mean
I mean this sincere he means dangerous people dont like freedom, freedom of speech, and freedom of where you go in life.
I don’t think you even remotely understood the point
Bro has the best suit game of all time
I have to disagree with you on this one. Cars and car infrastructure are inherently flawed. European cities are better to walk around precisely because they are more walkable.
It's About Containment ... 💯%
*"... and they hate automobiles" ... the psychopath I know loves his car. It's a posh one. A sign of success.*
IMO, its that feeling of spite and Grudge + a combination of capabilities that can make anyone dangerous to some extent.
Cars depend on a system of roads and fuel distribution. It is an illusion of freedom.
Shhh. You must be new to JP. People here don't crtically think or else they'd see through Jordan's fossil fuel propaganda in 5 seconds.
freedom is always limited to some extent, we have laws and there are restricted areas youre not allowed to drive to. bad take

My car has no monitoring devices in it.
With a working public transportation network, you can even feel more free. I do not even need to drive, which gives me the freedom to do, what I want, while traveling.
JP looking awesome. I'm happy for him.
There's a million restrictions driving cars; speed limits, car condition and inspections, regulation of spaces, seat belts, window tinting, exhaust regs,....
Not to mention the abuse of cars--such as replacing simple walking, etc.
Are you really free when your livelihood DEPENDS on a car?
I had this exact thought the other day, my parents hated when I got my first car, none of my narcissistic boyfriends could ever drive and I have an extremely lazy controlling friend that doesn’t drive either 🤣
