Congratulations and well done you bravo - I left a 18 year relationship and happy to be alive thank you Dr. P who appeared in my life after loosing my Father - keep doing you ✨
I watch him often bcz he gives great life lessons. One thing he always tells us is to have children because becoming a parent matures you to a great adult. To those of you who ended up taking different paths in life, you are worthy too. You are as significant as much as you make yourself so go forth, make great purpose in your life.
Some of us who didn’t have children invested in the lives of children as a volunteer coach or teacher or a Sunday School Teacher - i learned many things about children & how to deal with parents
I've learned to parent the child within, who never had parental figures to guide him in life. I don't agree with 1) contributing to human overpopulation, and 2) assuming the drastic & delicate responsibility of creating a life as motivation to change yourself. There's better ways to deal with the challenges of life; ways that don't risk you permanently balancing massive irresponsibility with personal-growth. As someone who had parents that weren't good & mature adults, I'd prefer to parent myself rather than irresponsibly create life & contribute to the increasing strain on our planet's very limited resources.
@fricative247 I beg to differ, I never said that those who have no children bear no responsibility. Furthermore, I said to 'go forth and make great purpose in your life'. For example, I have no children yet I bear the responsibility of serving others, this has been my lifelong career. Additionally, my elderly mother presently suffers from a disease there is no cure for, an added responsibily of mine. No, I am not young nor do I have children.

Highlights 00:00-03:12 🎯 The script encourages viewers to imagine the kind of life they would have if they could bear their suffering nobly and asks them to write about it for 15 minutes. 03:13-05:28 🤔 It suggests doing the exercise badly because visions and goals can change as one progresses through life, but it’s important to get a rough draft down. 05:29-07:44 😌 The script explores the concept of happiness and how it is often associated with avoiding excessive negative emotions and experiencing enthusiasm and forward movement. 07:45-10:35 🎯 It highlights the importance of setting goals and the link between positive emotions and goal pursuit. It also discusses the negative consequences of not pursuing goals and staying in a miserable situation. 10:36-13:20 😨 The script encourages facing fears and imagining the potential catastrophe of not taking action. It suggests using negative emotions as motivation to push forward. 13:21-15:00 😊 Positive emotions are discussed as the driving force behind motivation and concentration. The script compares the activation of the positive emotion system to the effects of drugs of abuse that stimulate the same system. Key Insights 🎯 Having a vision and goal in life is crucial for motivation and positive emotions. It gives a sense of purpose and direction. 🤔 It’s important to be flexible with visions and goals as they can change over time. The key is to have a rough draft and keep moving forward. 😌 Happiness is not just about avoiding negative emotions but also about experiencing enthusiasm and forward movement. 🎯 Setting goals is essential for positive emotions and motivation. Without a goal, confusion and anxiety arise. 😨 Facing fears and imagining the consequences of inaction can be powerful motivators for change. 😊 Positive emotions play a significant role in motivation and concentration. They make tasks easier to accomplish and provide a sense of fulfillment. 🎯 The positive emotion system is powerful, similar to the effects of drugs of abuse. It is activated in pursuit of goals and gives a sense of meaning and purpose.

Thanks for allowing free speech. It took me 70 years to change "my life" ... by realizing that religion was "created" by "theologians" ... that hated each other … and whose aim was to steal our birthright of feeling whole ... away from us ... by teaching us that we are born "evil sinners" ... and that only THEIR teachings could save us from a terrible fate ... that otherwise awaits us in *THE afterlife. What a wonderful feeling it was for me to take my birthright back FROM those theologians ... and to feel WHOLE just as I am ... for the first time in my life ... at age 70. I am 85 years of age now ... and I try to be as kind to others as each situation allows ... knowing that I can't DO better than my best. And one thing I am very thankful for ... is that when I was "religious" ... I never did use words in a bible to accuse others of being sinners ... while suggesting that I had been set free of sin ... by a supposed "savior." From the book … Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America’s Leading Atheists by Dan Barker, Richard Dawkins It wasn’t faith that eradicated cancer or AIDS. Science has given us much. What has theology ever provided? Theology has given us hell. The threat of damnation is designed to be an incentive to right action, but this is a phony morality. Humanists think we should do good for goodness’ sake, not for the selfish prospect of reaping individual rewards or avoiding punishment. And ideology that makes its point by threatening violence is morally bankrupt. (Hitler’s horrible ovens, at least, were relatively quick. The torment Jesus promised is a “fire that shall never be quenched.”) Anyone who believes in hell is at heart not moral at all. If the only way you can be forced to be kind to others is by the threat of hell, that shows how little you think of yourself.
Go to a dictionary. I’m showing my age here! Lol Anyway I love learning & if I hear new words I have a thirst for what they mean. It also improves my vocabulary!❤️
I've been through my trials and tribulations like others. We are all individuals in the way that we have our belief patterns. I love learning from Jordan Peterson. He teaches me a lot about my envisioned self. We all have different people that reach us as humans.
People who tell the truth with as much kindness as possibible and you are allowed to be as genuine and creative as your potential allows and more, plus contribute without being hindered.
You know Mr Peterson, I feel like aiming up is just part of it but having something meaningful is also really important. Because sometimes you might be productive but no meaningful purpose. It's like having art without soul.
Jordan Peterson gets through to me. When he speaks I agree with that factually and logically. When i first heard have talked about having a goal and how it creates positive emotion I was blown away. Having goals and meeting them build the dopamine in your brain more and more and it stays there as the baseline. This is the real way out of depression by doing things we have proven that raise the baseline of dopamine in our brains. Things like goals, exercising, eating right the gut brain connection with good gut biome and excellent blood flow rom a healthy heart to feed the brain and body oxygenated blood.
Life is about compromise, it fails you, you adapt, if you flexible you ok, if not you will struggle. Free will is an illusion unless you are ready to perpetually cooperate.

One of the life questions never asked is , when all is well with your life , you have a loving wife lovely children and content with work , but still there feels like something is missing something is trying to pull you astray , I think that’s where the I just want to be happy thing comes from , how to remain content with a good life
What I, and many others truly need to live the life we're supposed to live, and be the person we're supposed to be, Is Jesus Christ in our lives and hearts. Happiness follows quickly after accepting Christ as our one and only savior ❤ Not to forget voices such as Jordan Peterson, who ultimately turned me into a better path. "I just want to be happy" I am so glad I did not listen to this in 2022 bc I would have thought just being happy is unrealistic. It is possible to just be happy. Change the inner emotion to peace and happiness no more depression and anxiety. It is absolutely possible I did it.

For all of us who no longer have a father (or parents at all), Dr Peterson is a Godsend. Thank you Sir. I hope you know just how much you’ve positively impacted our lives. With gratitude from Australia.
Your positive emotions are associated with moving forward. Happiness is in the pursuit of a goal and not the goal itself. No goal, no positive emotions. No goal means confusion. Confusion means anxiety and dread. Life without a goal is confusion and hopeless. Develop a goal in
What most got out of this speech. Positive emotion. Is not being happy. Drugs = positive emotion. So, the pursuit of a realistic goal is worth the energy because the end result is the possibility of happiness in its transitory state.

I have metrics for myself, that i should be better than the yesterday me.
The one thing that I dont do is compare myself to other people especially thos that belong to diff timeline than me
The part from 4:55 really resonates. Incredible way to phrase the need of creating goals and think about your life's choices.
These types of videos really give meaning to life. JP is a man of his kind, the dad of people who are using this thing called the internet. I remember when I saw his videos for the first time; he really made me think of my life and the way I see things. I laid out my cards, and I started fixing things, one after another. Luckily, things started to unfold the way they should.
I'm so grateful that I'm still alive and still have a chance to listen to his speech every single day❤️

Improving English thanks to Jordan Peterson is priceless 🙏 this thing of goals and forward movement being the Essence of a worth living existence is so inspiring ❤
Thank you Dr. Peterson, my goal is to build my own family and become a father. I'm 25 years old, and I'm ready to be a father at the age of 30.❤
Being Daddy was and is the best job I ever had!
Now continuing to be the best daddy is the role I enjoy most.
Remember to enjoy even the smallest of thing. Remember the naps, the giggling, and the tickle spots.
Best job you will ever have!
@@johndavis7078 I will remember these words you just have written for me. I promise you. Greetings from Uruguay Sir! Next month it's my birthday and I'm turning 26. I'm already less than 5 years from it 😊🙏🏻
Do you want to have kids for yourself or for kids self?
Thank you so much Dr Peterson...
Dr. Peterson, I admire you and your work. I especially admire your strength of character. I always think about what you would do in a situation. My conscience used to have my accent, but now it has a Canadian accent😅.
😄
The greatest thing he points out is that you yourself are the only person who can change your situation -- and you already have the power to do so. Imagine where you want to be and move forward toward that goal, with purpose, humility, and an open mind.
Love understanding. Through knowledgeable information and using it with careful judgement love and openness towards all . Much love .
Bless you everyone!
I never did use words in a bible to accuse others of being sinners ... while suggesting that I had been set free of sin ... by a supposed "savior."
From the book … Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America’s Leading Atheists by Dan Barker, Richard Dawkins
It wasn’t faith that eradicated cancer or AIDS.
The torment Jesus promised is a “fire that shall never be quenched.”)
Anyone who believes in hell is at heart not moral at all.
If the only way you can be forced to be kind to others is by the threat of hell, that shows how little you think of yourself.
Thanks, this is great a great talk as usual:)!
Everytime I listen to Peterson he always have so many new words which I hear for the first time 😅👍
Go to a dictionary. I’m showing my age here! Lol Anyway I love learning & if I hear new words I have a thirst for what they mean. It also improves my vocabulary!❤️
I love his suits 😅 so eclectic and motivational ❤❤
I've been through my trials and tribulations like others. We are all individuals in the way that we have our belief patterns. I love learning from Jordan Peterson. He teaches me a lot about my envisioned self. We all have different people that reach us as humans.
Thank you very much for this video. It changed my day for the better.
that suit is fire Jordan…please continue
Much appreciated Dr Jordan Peterson ever since I started listening to you my life has changed very immensely.
Thank you sir! Live it
People who tell the truth with as much kindness as possibible and you are allowed to be as genuine and creative as your potential allows and more, plus contribute without being hindered.
Jordan we need you desperately ❤The voice of reason ❤
I love that he always puts his finger right into the wound
You know Mr Peterson, I feel like aiming up is just part of it but having something meaningful is also really important. Because sometimes you might be productive but no meaningful purpose. It's like having art without soul.
Saw him live a few weeks ago in Richmond Va . Was exactly like the YT videos you see, with out missing a beat. Thank you Dr. Peterson
Right on point
Brilliant and truthful explanation. Powerful
Thank you for your dedication, you are great.
Thank you for being here sir, everytime listening you enlightens me more than before and this one is one of those that I will have to re-watch and absorb it thoroughly
This man saved my life. If you’re reading this Jordan, thank you.
Thank you for being the father figure I never knew I needed, guiding me with wisdom from afar.
Has anyone else found an unexpected mentor online? Let’s share how they’ve impacted our lives!
I needed to hear this today, thank you Mr Peterson.
Love you jordan Peterson 😊
Brother, think about your passion. Think about the whys's. Think about your change of narrative, think Bout your focus. Think about the fog. You're a prophet protected by the creator of this universe. Bless you. Consider this . Thanks bro. I love you bro.
Just wow and full of truth. Could i please have a link to the full lecture?
For myself and the students that support at the school I work at and for tje future students that need your wisdom.
You have changed my way of thinking on so many issues.
Too bad i cant even get my mother to watch even one of your videos. Oh well. Thank you for all that you do.
What a time to be alive watching this man on RUclips for free.
Listen ypung people. So much wisdom
Humanness thrives on challenge. Being rewarded for providing is a primal joy. Find your limits and push past them. Open up the best version of yourself and treat yourself like someone you love.
Just remembered a line that would summarise this : happy life is not ofno struggle. It is a life with meaningful struggle
I love your Self-Authoring course! I'm almost done but it's been life changing putting it all down in writing.
You make things very clear for me to see and i appreciate that 🙏
Perfectly said, NO goal = NO life.
No goals=no positive emotions.
Thanks to you i am working ass a hypnose&Regression therapist. Thank you ❤ Judith from the Netherlands
Professor Jordan Peterson, thank you for being the dad I never had❤❤❤
My internet. Thank you❤❤❤
What I’d like is to be valued and respected by my family. While I have that from friends, I haven’t felt that since my father died 31 years ago.
Enthusiastic means to be filled with the Holy Spirit! Wow that’s amazing. I aim to do the things that I feel enthusiastic about.
Thank you Dr Peterson 🙏
This video showed me that I am already on the right way. I think I just have to define a few things you mentioned a little more precisely. Thank you!
One of the life questions never asked is , when all is well with your life , you have a loving wife lovely children and content with work , but still there feels like something is missing something is trying to pull you astray , I think that’s where the I just want to be happy thing comes from , how to remain content with a good life
Perhaps because internal friction provides an opportunity for growth which is uncomfortable?!
Unresolved wounds. Lying to self about any number of things.
Being happy is the journey, always. And the destination is the carrot on the stick 😆
'Happy is what you feel after ... Christmas dinner'. I agree. ❤
Keep it up Dr P. My life is improved from listening to you, and I appreciate your lectures
What I, and many others truly need to live the life we're supposed to live, and be the person we're supposed to be, Is Jesus Christ in our lives and hearts. Happiness follows quickly after accepting Christ as our one and only savior ❤
Not to forget voices such as Jordan Peterson, who ultimately turned me into a better path. The first clip I remember seeing of Jordan, hit so hard it has helped change everything I used prioritize.
Thank you for not making this an absolute blanket statement
I used to be religious and am no longer because it did not make me happier not lead me to live the life I’m supposed to
I understand that for many it does so even though I disagree with you I won’t condemn you and I really just wanted to thank you for understanding nuance
Excellent as always . Thank you .
One of the greatest men we have right now. Protect him at all costs!
This video is great and very useful, be sure to watch until the end. The summary of several books is hidden in this video, this video is worth watching several times
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🌹❤️🌹
I needed this. Thank you Jordan ❤
Muchas gracias por tanto querido Jordan.
Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
"I just want to be happy" I am so glad I did not listen to this in 2022 bc I would have thought just being happy is unrealistic. It is possible to just be happy. Change the inner emotion to peace and happiness no more depression and anxiety. It is absolutely possible I did it.
Graham Hancock is another man whom I would follow without question. When those who would have you live in darkness are everywhere, there will always be the few who try to guide you back to the light. Listen to them.
I'm truly grateful for the invaluable insights shared. The author's honesty and wisdom are both eye-opening and inspiring. It's a reminder to embrace life's lessons and make the most of every moment. Thank you to the author for imparting such valuable knowledge.
Just amazing,
He helps us to bring jems from ourselves...by deep driving into ourselves
Applies to school too, don’t be afraid to change how your education is going. Nothing wrong with going a different route so that you can love learning, and find what’s best for your life.
For all of us who no longer have a father (or parents at all), Dr Peterson is a Godsend. Thank you Sir. I hope you know just how much you’ve positively impacted our lives. With gratitude from Australia.
Thank you that you are there for me
Your positive emotions are associated with moving forward.
Happiness is in the pursuit of a goal and not the goal itself.
No goal, no positive emotions. No goal means confusion. Confusion means anxiety and dread. Life without a goal is confusion and hopeless.
Develop a goal in
Breaks down everything very well.
I only tell my goals to my creator through meditation
What most got out of this speech.
Positive emotion. Is not being happy. Drugs = positive emotion. So, the pursuit of a realistic goal is worth the energy because the end result is the possibility of happiness in its transitory state.
Saw internet dad this week live. Inspiring
