Married at 22, husband is 6 years older, three children, celebrating 32 years of marriage next week!
I am so sorry I read that as 22 years old, celebrating 32 years of marriage next week and I just glitched...
congratulations!
That’s awesome! Congratulations to you and your family
Congratulations!🎉
Congrats!
I too married at 22 and my husband was 30. We have been happily married for 46 years! I also had finished University and had a well established career when we got married. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. It is a wonderful full life 😊
I'm happy for you. I hope to have something like this one day!!
That's beautiful
It’s more difficult to pull off these days…
That’s awesome but I look at 22 as far to young for a 30 year old now .. for you it worked .. a 25 year women and a 30 year old is closer .. 22 is like a baby age now .. I think most people can’t make a marriage work with that age range ..
@@Kwildcat13 they're both adults. There is no issue. She didn't ask for your opinion
Loneliness and depression is what you get when you sleep around
However by unlocking loneliness and depression you don't unlock sex :D
Naahhh, it is not mr gonzalez, when you are really young, untill like 22 tot max 24 it's great fun when you do it save.
Idealy you can find your dream man or woman after that.
@@the_w189nothing fun about it.
As an incel, I wouldn’t mind that kind of loneliness and depression.
On a chemical level, when you sleep around you are releasing all these binding hormones/chemicals that are meant to attach you to someone. The more you release those chemicals pointlessly the more frustrated you become.
He mentioned a 'Sex in the City' dating life. People should remember that the star of that show, Sarah Jessica Parker, has been in a committed relationship with 1 man (her husband), since she was in her late 20s. In other words the character who many women see as something to aspire to, herself lived a very different life- a life committed soley to one man.
Yup. Not to mention, her husband is the complete opposite of Big. 🙃
Interesting. Didn't know that.
Sarah Jessica Parker was also 32 years old when she married the man she is solely committed too. She had her time to figure out what she wanted.
Im glad Peterson clarified on men are NOT designed like that. I absolutely despise that description and find it an absolute insult to masculinity, men and God’s design making men out to be animals that is women tame. How do you justify that and then claim men are supposedly leaders, logical, rational and moral. But yes immature men act like this because there’s a difference in having a higher sex drive vs being designed to be an immoral animal ‘sowing his seed’.
Well, they might not be "designed" for that but the temptation for short term pleasure can/will arise. A much better way to put it is whether or not men act on that impulse is what makes them mature or immature.
Take it up with the creator as it is very biologically ingrained in men. Facts do not care abour your feelings. And calling it immature or using shame and insults or trying to guilt men into marrying a washed up Jezzebel at 30 is not going to work.
Women can also say it's ingrained in them to be manipulative greedy witches who will dump a guy in favor of a richer suitor, anytime
@@mekbebtamrat817 yeah no. You take it up with God and see how he will judge your degeneracy and insulting his perfect creation. Hope you repent from your ways

This is a great Video. This brings back painful memories which i have been enduring. My relationship of 5 years ended 3 months ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.
I am sorry about what you have been through. I have been through something similar and was almost depressed, till I contacted a spiritual counsellor who helped me get my ex back and hence my life back

I always thought it was so stupid when kids in school, like Elementary school, would say they were dating. My mind was so black and white and to me, the only point of dating someone was to get married and who was going to date all throughout school?! I know that it used to happen but in this day and age, it is clearly rare. I never dated some guy just because I wanted to have fun. I would date him because I thought I would maybe be able to have a future with him one day. Or at least I was testing it to see if they were someone id want to marry
Amen, sister!
Courting is a skill. Childhood dating is a learning experience like play and sports.
@@robertanderson5092 maybe it once was but I don't think so. Because that would mean the person who had the most Partners was the most skilled. But I buy today's standards, we know that the person with the most part is usually the one who's the most unskilled. Otherwise they would be locked down

He had a high body count at 19, Muslim, was manipulative, narcissistic (always taking selfies), lied/ told me half-truths without telling the full truth. Just look at Ali Abulaban. It's true and I wish I knew better but I had to learn on my own and now I do my best to avoid these types of people.

Yes, but you are still thinking about this guy? He did those things and on some level, it must’ve challenged you and kept you interested. Maybe I’m wrong
When my mom left my dad for another man, my husband and I went in for marriage counseling for ourselves, simply because we wanted to be sure the same thing didn't happen to us. Commitment is a decision we make every day! Also I highly recommend counseling, even if there are no issues. It was amazing and super helpful for making our relationship stronger.
I would be quite terrified having a discussion with Peterson. But it must be so much I can learn from . It must be amazing to be in a group of people who aren’t afraid to share knowledge and have meaningful discussions. Clearly difficult ones and exhausting. But being with people is exhausting anyway. Learning something while socialising gives it a sense though.
I absolutely adore Brett and Jordan! This was fantastic!❤
This is like good news for women who tried their best to stay away from such short-term relationships. I also believe that a mature masculine man will not want to indulge in such life
That's not a bad thing. It's a lot more fun, and I mean a lot more fun, holding back on growing up and settling down in your 30s. I love being married but it's boring compared to the adventures I had when in my 20s.
As a man why in the world would you want to be in a long term relationship? Way less fun, way more bs, way more nagging, way more expensive

Singleness is a gift to give your undivided devotion to Jesus. Know your worth in Christ and refuse to settle for anything less than G0Ds best. Be with someone who is going to lead you in clarity, purity, closer to Christ and the calling HE has for you. G0D calls us to date in purity and in a way that we’re loving each other as Christ loves the Church and us.
Idk I’m getting real sick and tired of my “gift.” People can call singleness a gift when 1) they’re in a relationship/married or 2) they haven’t been single and praying for a decade (or two). It’s real easy to say bs like that on the outside. No one who wants a family and has been earnestly waiting for God to fulfill his promise ever calls it a gift.

My best friend was super cool and popular and social in h/s, prom king, great physical shape, we used to train together, everyone knew and liked him.
He got married had kids, now he’s going bald, stressed, hasn’t been to the gym or done any sports in years, antisocial, and stuck in Groundhog Day till he can retire from the rat race when he’s 60 or something.
Meanwhile, I’ve been challenging myself outside my comfort zone, growing, learning about the world and myself, language, culture, food, nature, people (including intelligent, interesting male friends and yes, including beautiful women and I don’t just mean physically), generally experiencing my potentially one shot at life.

In my 20's most of the men I met were very immature or an asshole. It's still the same thing now in my 40's and I don't know why. Relationships always took TWO people willing to work on it. Brett tends to say things on her channel that is a bit uninformed, and it would be so cool (not possible I know) if Jordan could step in on respond to Brett's remarks on occasion, and test her thinking on some things, it would be so awesome.
The thing you need to realize is that, whatever you want to call it, we have an "aura" and an energy imprinted on our bodies.. and partnering with someone is one of the deepest most intimate way two souls can connect. Thus by not being selective with who you choose to be intimate with, or being shallow on evaluating that based on physical appearance alone, you are at risk of tangling your own energy with someone else's energies. We refer to sexuality as "purity" vs. "impurity" for a good linguistic reason.
Funny I actually agree with you on this view but come to a different conclusion.
I would agree that mingling energy with the wrong person could have a negative affect on your energy.
But in my experience most people are not necessarily “bad” and there are literally millions of beautiful souls with great energy and sharing that isn’t a bad thing.
I think it comes down to if you approaching this from a ego-derived taking and zero sum mindset vs from a more present-moment open and sharing mindset.

Have been conducting my life with integrity, virtue and honesty. Life still has turned out dreadful. Alignment doesnt always work for some people. I dont think dating is a swamp, per say. I think its a mountain of shards of broken glass. Broken people creating more broken people.
It sounds like you had a very painful time but you seem to be looking in all the wrong places if all you see is shards of glass.
My life hasn’t turned out as I would have liked either. The older I get, the deeper my problems become and the more unlikely they will ever be resolved. And it’s a hard thing to even process because I truly believe we are in the early stages of a total societal collapse. I’m just one man…who cares, right? But watching civilization break apart at the seams…that’s a very serious prospect. I could theoretically fix my problems but I don’t think there’s anything that can stop what’s happening on a global scale. My only advice is to try and enjoy your life as much as you can. Don’t take it for granted. Because it can all be over tomorrow.
Turn to Jesus with all your heart.
Just gotta keep going and adjust where you fall short. But don't turn to Jesus if you think that'll solve your problems. Jesus didn't lift a fucking finger to save children from cancer no matter how hard they prayed, it's unlikely he'll do shit for you. You gotta learn how to cope with life on your own terms, and don't become complacent or codependent on anyone. If you want to find a partner, make sure they can fit In your life and you fit in theirs..and if you two can't fit, either build something new together or find someone else.

She's certainly a statistical anomaly compared to the peers of her generation and clearly wise beyond her years. The women who do opt for the Sex & the City route in their 20s will typically find out that their baggage will come back to bite them once they realize the time for finding a lifelong mate is running thin. Feminism has sold cohorts of young women the pernicious lie of prioritizing career above family, and many will only recognize that when it's too late.
Not everyone is fulfilled with a family. There are women who despise their children and wish they never became mothers. However, women who dare to speak such a truth face dramatic social repurcussions for doing so.
Honestly y’all make up so many problems. The truth is much more nuanced, if a woman is still single by 30 it probably wasn’t her choice, she just didn’t find the one by then. I know many women who found their partners after 30 and they didn’t spend their 20s doing whatever they wanted, they just happened to find their partners later. Not everyone in their 20s is going nuts. It’s not a dichotomy of virgin vs. the whore. Life isn’t that simple even though you want it to be, most people fall somewhere within that category erring towards desiring or wanting a real and true love and most things we do, dating or otherwise, are in pursuit of those things.
And this goes for women & men. Contrary to red pill belief which what’s her face is toting here, most men are not on the sociopathic spectrum and are looking for love as well. Same thing with women. Women are just more easily confused and led astray because they’re well, women. They need protection which this society offers none. And men tend to isolate themselves in their frustrations whereas women tend to be more outward. Still everyone is confused because isolating yourself nor only hanging around narcissistic men will solve the issues you do desperately desire to solve.
exactly, most women currently are extremly toxic, it's good to know there are a few good ones still out there
I never engaged with the Sex & City route. I was ignored and called "boring", even by church goers. Now that I'm old the only thing to choose from are run down, used up men who carry more STDs than a hospital laboratory.
I've just settled in my celibacy and accepted I'm never going to marry.
Short term vs Sleeping around. People have dated for 6 months or less, which is different from sleeping around. Fabulous conversation! I learned a lot from casually dating about myself: social awkwardness, a lack of social cue and body language, how to converse, etc. etc. Henry Cloud wrote a fantastic book on it. Found my husband at age 28, and we’re around the same age as well. Very happy.
Marriage is indeed the best foundation for family and stability. I hope anyone who struggles with their internal loneliness finds a path to companionship, be it a friendship or relationship. Longterm companionship leads to stability and safety, and is able to nourish it. I hope everyone can heal their wounds, whether self-decided or externally decided.
JP is spot on culturally and based in the maturity level of males vs females when it comes to mating strategies. It’s better in the longrun to be monogamous in a relationship to assure the child is yours. Whereas if you’re promiscuous you’re at a higher risk of illegitimate kids you don’t have access to or being hooked on child support whilst possibly not even being the father of the child. Like attracts Like.
This is a good clip. I don't remember it from the full episode.
Brett's views and intelligence never fails to impress me, shes certainly not your average 22 year old these days. Its no wonder she was drawn to a male who happened to be 8 years older and more mature then those of an age similar to herself. I certainly hope for the best for her in life.

As someone in a long term relationship and had more short term relationships than should be legal, I believe short-term relationships change your brain to focus on finding and extracting value from fleeting relationships. It results in you not having any space for long-term thinking. That's probably why it's associated with criminality.
Once you're in a long term relationship you are able to plan your life 5, 10 and 20 years out, which will inevitably reduce to propensity to do something stupid and/or criminal.
Very interesting discussion/interview made me think, but some parts i'm having trouble understanding fully.
I'm 56, single, and a faithful, practicing Catholic. I'm trying to find a man of similar mind. There are a lot of game players out there and I want to date to marry. Praying.
Honest question, catholic here too. Why do you want to get married? You are past childbearing age. If it's for struggles with urges, you made it this long, why not continue? You could lead a life of service? Is it loneliness? Are friendships not fulfilling? If your past the age of having children I would think your life could be a gift of God's love to the world by serving your communities and that can be fulfilling. Normally marriage is to start families which is fulfilling and an act of God's love in service to your children.
@@Hunter-2689 I do serve in my church. I have friends. I want to be a wife. I want a companion. I don't want to "make it". I want to share love with a man. I married the first man I ever dated. I am female and my completely honest answer to Jordan's question "why not promiscuity and one night stands" would be; Both of that is very attractive to me. Feeling adrenaline in veins, pumping up my ego seeing that I am attractive to males, enjoying the privilege of paid dinners, gifts... It is all attractive like sugar to me. But, I know the price of it. I know the almost inevitable consequences of that kind of living...and that's not what I want. That's not the price I am ready and willing to pay. I wish more people spoke openly and honestly about it like you are here - often there's this practice that if we don't want to push a certain idea or action, we dismiss everything about it as bad.
But to me the most effective anti-drug messages aren't the "stay away from drugs mmmk" but those that acknowledge how immensely pleasurable those things are, (in the short term), and how destructive in the long term.
Another side effect of this avoidance is pushes the addicts themselves away, whereas the above message starts to sympathize and relate.

so true I have seen it times and times and sometimes it takes a long time for women to learn to stay away from those type of man.
almost all men and women don't stick to a single partner these days so It's a beautiful thing when two people who truly wish to be that way find each other. I wish those people the best of luck in finding each other because it can't be easy.
@@smithers4420 I am not sure what point you trying to make if you not interested in being with one person it’s your preference it has nothing to do with my original comment.
@allisonstephypnotherapist I wasn't really making a point other than that stepping away from those types of people can be very difficult because almost everyone is that type of person really
@@smithers4420 if you believe that what it’s so let it be. My experience is different pretty much everyone that I know want to be with one person for the rest of their life. Like attracts like. What you believe is what you become. No judgement you do you. I’m just not interested in continue this discussion with you.

it's nice to settle down and commit young but it's also good to explore _for the right reasons_ (not loneliness. to explore yourself, to experiment, by connecting with different people). healthy stable relationships are way more work than people think and unless that desire is coming from a genuine place and you're lucky to find someone compatible in life and characteristic, it will likely just become another life lesson
I was actually discussing polygamy with a very close group of friends, and 2 of them were really thinking into applying that to their own lives and were kinda "preaching" the concept of not being locked in a relationship, and this video really paints my idea as well, believe that always searching for that sexual arousal and feeling with multiple different people leads to more instability and less control of our emotions, than finding a companion that you can share and spend your life with. I'm not saying it should be forever, as nowadays I find it more hard to find that partner after getting out of a 9 year relationship, but I truly believe we find solace and comfort when we get to share that with just one person. And I don't see anything wrong with only wanting to do that with 1 person only.
Two great minds right there
Did you get that impression from this video?

@atheos5748 I wouldn't call having children a short-term relationship. And if it is, how does a man owing child support beneficial to men?
sounds like something a narcissist or sadist would say.
If only I had , had the access that young people do , to be able to learn from this great man !
Your super young and so sure Yourself I respect that so much I wish I was like that when I was your age I was there anything but that
Now this is truly mesmerizing, two adult members of opposite sexes sitting down an having a normal converation. About sex and relations. In america. Thou i must say, intelligence truly have a pacifying effect on the conversation, not trying to constantly overcome one another out of respect, shure puts on an impact too. Imagine to sit down and participate on this life journey, telled by a young woman with normal values and a good portion of common sense. I said it before, and i say it again; if you could present 100.000 wonderful, intelligent, high value women like this for the young men in america, you would run out of them in ten minutes. Oh, and Jordan, is a king. No one could ever say anything else but that.
I slept around a bit in my late teens/early 20s. I slept with 12 women. Nothing I repeat NOTHING made me more depressed than casual sex. I haven’t slept with anyone in 6 years, I’m about to turn 30.
I have a plan to find a sweet little mama in the next few years who wants 20 children. That’s the dream.
❤
Get the feeling. Intimacy without commitment is like fast food. It hurts painfully.
Wants 20 children ??? 🤣🤣🤣😂. Funnily specific 😂😂. I just want 23 kids
@@pandoraelysium you’re on the money bro.
@@kingsleyokoye8791 haha well you want 12 kids you’ll wind up with 7,8 or 9. You want 20 kids and you’ll wind up with 12,13,14 😄
@@TheJacali 😂🤣. Ohh ok. Now I see your logic. And it's true. 😂😂
What a good discussion jordan and to the young woman. You have your values and a thinking head on your shoulders. So good. It’s actually ok to have these values versus what we see on social media etc. it’s also not an either or. We have been sold a bill of goods. I grew up at the beginning of the feminist movement and what a sea change. From one end of the stick to the other but the actual sweet spot for me was having a family also and my career path wasn’t linear. Did it affect my career path. Certainly but not in ways one can wrap up in a neat conclusive sense. Perhaps I am in the field I now am due to the many experiences I have had in all dimensions. There is no one path. Thank you for this. For reference I am now a 68 year old grandmother. Best part of my life and my career in the mental health field was a midlife change ….
Dr Peterson, could you please give us a literature on promiscuous men (antisocial behavior literature you mention). Or could you do an episode about it? I'm a woman trying to navigate the modern dating scene and could really use guidance on how to spot the "bad apples". Especially since these people seem to be good at lying.

Short term relationships are experience. I was in a 7 year relationship and when we broke up i was rusty and naive in everything related to dating

Gosh I love Brett cooper and JBP - idk why but if I was Brett I’d be sweating answering these personal questions so candidly. I love this conversation though, and appreciate her being so open to sharing her very personal perspective and career goals. 😅❤
A conversation between Jordan Peterson and Brett Cooper is something I never thought I needed, but I'm glad we got 👍🏼💯😄
She says all the right things but there is just something about her setting off all of my instinctual alarm bells. Sirens are blaring and I get the feeling that 15 years from now her entire world is going to be falling apart.
She was a party girl in college.
@@chuck1052 oh lol was she really?
Well, statistically, women who marry young are more likely to divorced when they're older.
How do you know that
Just look at Steven Crowder. Im always suspicious of people who want to broadcast their lives on the internet. Especially those making alot of money
It's time to shift the conversation from "why do women prefer men who are older" to "why do men usually mature so much slower than women"
Those are literally tied together women date older because men mature slower. It’s been like that forever it’s just recently people date within age group maybe that’s why relationships don’t last nowadays.
Generally speaking: Brain chemistry and hormones. There are of course other factors in play, but those two are consistent across almost all scenarios
Men are also the ones working in the family and careers take time to be established
IMO its not that they mature slower but they need more time to get on the same "level" since they need to shed blood, sweat, and tears for years to get respect & maturity, compared to women that just look pretty by the time they're teenagers. I'm not really informed on female mental maturity however
@@johnnguyen4572 so why do you think men don't go for women their age?
I laugh at the end of his videos because the little tune at the end reminds me of the Fawlty Towers theme at the start

Efforts or events that cross a group boundary are often looked at with greater suspicion than an event or an effect that originates within the group: man to woman, white to black, straight to gay, adult to child, republican to democrat. The event will be no worse for originating within the group, but anyone in that group who is offended by it will attribute it to the individual, while the event or effect that originates within a different group will tend to be attributed to the entire group.
How do you get married and have a career by age 22! Wow, that is amazing! Good luck to her.

@@20thcentury_toyhopefully her hypocrisy disappears. With being a wife and homeschooling all of these children that she wants to have, I don't see how she can maintain her show and starting in DW movies, unless she really puts her future husband and kids off to the wayside. What we want and what we get are increasingly not the same thing. There are so many well-meaning women(and men) out there that have been duped just enough to prevent themselves, and anyone who could be their mates from coming and staying together.
