should be tested from a set MPH not 1/4 mile and side by side to see if the drivers applied the brakes at the same time.

@@timsautovision6145 - actually wasn't saying one was better than the other, just getting a closer apples-to-apples comparison...the result may have been an even greater distance between the two.
Maybe, I want to see, that's all on paper... Side by side. The same speed at the same time braking.
Yeah that test didn't make any sense. Either test brakes independently using the same speed (Mustang was a lot slower at the 1/4 line here) or test both power and braking together as the other poster mentioned in a 0-150-0 test or similar.

Brake test doesn't count, unless they both hit the brakes at the same speed. I doubt they crossed the 1/4 at the same speed.
They are prob close, both trap at 118 mph

Supposedly the DH auto runs to 60 in 3.7 seconds (whereas the manual in 4.1 secs)...I agree let's see more DH sprints with the 10 speed automatic!
If you can't get auto vs auto or dct then wait until you can.
As many others have said, these "tests" are bogus. Launching a manual vs PDK car makes no sense. Doing a braking demonstration without the vehicles traveling at the same speed is pointless.

Instead of the guy driving the Dark Horse, bad mouthing it... why not take them both to a local prepped drag strip (with an automatic Dark Horse as well) and test the automatic and manual Mustang against the Porsche? I can only imagine the results then!

Nah its the DH brakes. The DH trap time is probably a few mph faster than the Cayman but in any case they should be very close depending on conditions. Also, keep in mind the DH is at least 600-800lbs heavier.

The braking premise is all wrong. Using this test, a Nissan Sentra would beat a Ferrari SF90 because it would be stopping from 90 mph instead of 135 mph.
You guys are car guys? How do you do a brake comparison using 1/4 mile instead of breaking from the same speed? Your drag race already showed the Mustang was slower, which means it has less speed to scrub at the 1/4 mile. What a dumb thing to do.

The 1/4 mile brake test was silly. If i went across the 1/4 mile in a Citroen 2CV at 10mph and stopped I would destroy the Mustang.

It doesn't matter either way, the DH stops way faster than the Porsche in general, look up 0-150-0, the Mustangs brakes are insane.

Not for nothing but the mustang was spinning tires he did not launch it as good as he should have. I mean a win is a win and the porch just hooks up better being a mid engine. Power is great but not so much if you can't hook.

It´s the tires on the mustang, porsche has 4s and mustang pirelli trofeo Rs. Use same kind of tire and get other results.
Exactly with stock tires you don't get traction leaving higher than 2500 rpm this video was dumb
those are the factory equipped tires. call porsche and tell them to sell better tires from the factory.

Manual V auto, mush!
The brake test was stupid and proved nothing. Mustang was on the brakes early and Porsche was travelling much faster when it reached 1/4 mile marker.

The brake test was not fair, the porsche was probably going faster, plus the Mustang was already braking before the 1/4. you should do a side by sideb rake test with similar rolling speed.
PdK launch is just that much better, both have trap speeds about 118 mph

Dear Ford, 2026 Mustang, design it to look like the 1993 foxbody and give it AWD.

Porsches are always faster than their power or even power to weight would suggest.
Not at all. Anyone knowing anything about cars would know how light the Cayman and 911 are over an American muscle car. It might make a couple hundred hp less but at almost a grand less weight. Everyone always forgets basic physics. It's harder to get something so much heavier moving as fast as the lighter car/object. Not to mention the DH spun more than the Cayman off the line. That's why most people would want to see the roll race. When already moving it becomes more about acceleration to higher velocity than overcoming inertia while fighting grip.

Until they put cameras on both tachs when they race I don't believe any of it.
Their power-to-weight ratios are almost identical. With the much better launch of a mid-engined PDK car, as well as the faster gear changes, this outcome is exactly what I would expect. Which is why the race was pointless.

The Dark Horse crossed the 1/4 mile mark at a lower trap speed, therefore it had a major advantage...

Ford said the Dark Horse was made for the track, the brakes and handling were stepped up. It's not really for drag racing like a Shelby would be more geared towards.
GT500 specifically. Probably a better comparison to the Cayman GTS but it's probably been done already.

The Mustang wasn't going as fast, so of course it stopped sooner. Why in the world would you not report the speed differences at the finish flag? You should have measured the time or distance from 100mph to stop. I'm finding this happens quite often when you guys test. No controls, no driver swaps, it's just never conclusive when you don't do accurate tests.
Gt3 rs stops better than the cayman and the dark horse best the 911 as well, and the gt3 rs and DH test was from the same mph

@randbaldwin I think it might have been the Hagerty channel that did it with the GT3 RS but I don't remember for sure. I thought the GT3 RS would have been better than the DH (might be the 911 fan bias in me). It's pretty impressive what the DH can do, and it's not even the GTD mustang which they're predicting to be as fast as the AMG GTR on the nurburgring
