Love your linux distros reviews, it's informative. Just a guess. Could it be your video card is dated for wayland? Or maybe wayland is still not production ready.
That's why i use i3 titling manger. I can customize it the way i want. The only caveat is i have to configure some windows to open correctly. Thanks for the honest review.
@PenguinByte One more thing is that i3 mangers use config files to configure windows, taskbars, workspaces and launchers, etc. It's very good but sometimes it can get difficult the more complex setup you want.
The most frustrating thing about KDE is that I like the look, so I WANT it to be good. Every year or two I try it again, and every single time it continues to be a buggy mess just like this. Kubuntu was the worst implementation I've tried with it. Over the weekend I installed Fedora KDE to give Plasma 6 a try, and between Wayland refusing to output 4k@60hz and KDE's lack of an "Open As Root" feature in the context menu, I've given up on it yet again. Guess I'll try it again and be disappointed in 2025 lol
Yea lol, buggy mess perfectly sums up all of my experience with Plasma. Also yea lmfao, Kubuntu was also buggy when I tried it, and I’ve heard several bad experiences with the KDE Spin of Fedora specifically. For some ppl KDE works well which is really great, but not for me. Also I personally don’t like the traditional workflow, UI, options, and many aspects of KDE in general, but that is a lot more subjective and I think I could’ve had a much better experience with it had it not been for the bugs
I also tried this kde neon 2 weeks ago...after first upgrade, the problem i had i couldn't install anything from apt package.. .... flatpak package worked fine....
I like kde though I was a loyal windows user for like 6 years I do like gnome too though The only desktop I won't use is cinnamon unless it's Linux mint or xfce unless I need to
@@_tanzil_ well if it was on Linux mint I definitely would but on other distributions cinnamon just looks ugly because it doesn't have the Linux mint theming So to summarize looks
@@smartninja3651 Well, it's true that cinnamon default looks is ugly. But using a theme like Dracula or Sweet, it looks fine. I don't like to use any Linux distro without a 3rd party theme except Ubuntu.
I remember trying KDE Connect, it's pretty neat ngl but like most KDE programs for me, it was a buggy mess, and sometimes would not work at all even after fiddling with the firewall and checking several times... But I'm very glad to hear that it worked for you! If a program like KDE Connect can actually work for someone, it can definitely be useful :)
Well it could be, but coming from the buggy experience that Windows is, last thing we would want is for new users to experience bugs left, right, and center, and unfortunately this has been my experience with KDE twice, with Kubuntu and Plasma 5, and this time with Neon and Plasma 6.
KDE has a loyal following; it's been like that for well over a decade. Most folks who come from Windows, arrive via Gnome or Cinnamon mostly, also the horrid Xfce.
I use the mouse because the trackpad on my computer sucks, it’s really old and clicks terribly. I personally prefer trackpads but mine is just unusable.
@@PenguinByte look into keybinds most linux desktop environments have them you can set what ever you want to what ever you want mix that with an app launcher and your are golden

if the window is outside of view, you can also right - more - fullscreen in the taskbar
Ever since I found this channel I loved it. Keep it going!
Thanks ♥

Hello, thanks! Wayland works flawlessly on GNOME so maybe KDE just doesn’t support Wayland very well yet, but not entirely sure :)
@@PenguinByte I believe you are right. KDE and Wayland are just not ready to work together yet. Stills needs more seasoning.

Some of us use KDE for KDE Connect, an essential functionality. KDE runs smooth on my i7 8GB 250GB SSD ThinkPad. Gracefully indeed.

i like the part where kde froze... again...
LMAO yeah that was frustrating but also hilarious 💀
Wonder if you're running out of ram.
I mean GNOME worked flawlessly, and GNOME works better now on Debian than KDE did on Neon, so not sure but I do have 16GB RAM…
You're right. KDE Breeze theme is very ugly and cluttered.
@@_tanzil_ yeah, I’m not a fan lol
freezing issue is a hardware side
I don't have it with any other distro, not nearly as badly as I did on KDE Neon, so I doubt that...
IMO that KDE Plasma is only for guys who come from windows
