It's not about the whiskey, it's the people you share it with!
#bourbon #whiskey #whiskeytube
Just picked up this bottle. Super pumped!
So this is sourced whiskey?
Jason would you take Master’s Keep Voyage or Kelvin V?
@@lodrizzle33 Kelvin V
Barossa creeek may be all time favorite!!
Just about to try it....
Great review, J, thanks! Looking frwd to sipping it tonight w my club along with others and your M&J private brl Rye - Cask 20 (which I can't find any info/vids. Can you advise? I've asked Scott a cpl times and doesn't seem to understand what I'm asking : ) Cheers!
Just picked one up at Total wine in Colorado today. Didn't think they came to CO, but I'll take it!
Four Gate is available in 11 States currently. Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Indiana, Illinois, Arizona, California, and Colorado. As well as the two national retailers mentioned in the video.
Yeah, I was about to mention it’s on the shelves here in Colorado too.
Looking frwd to a tasting of your whiskies tonight, Chris, cheers from YorktownWhiskeyClub!
I ended up getting a bottle of Kelvin Collaboration V and absolutely love it. It is pricey, but I am I glad I bought it. 🥃
Bourbon down under, port perry perrry , barossa creek all fantastic!
Thanks Jason, you've never steered me wrong yet. Will look for it , cheers .
Personally I love the Kelvin Colabs. I have ordered the V on Seelbachs. Just waiting for it to get here. I still have some of the II, III, and IV. Will be doing a four pour blind to see which one really stands out. Current order of the ones I have tried would be IV, II, III. Can't wait for it to get here!! Only other Four Gates I have tried is the Indiana Foundation 10 year and the 2 toasted picks of the Bourbon and Rye from the Mash and Journey Whiskey Club.
Have you done the four pour blind and come out with a ranking yet?
Great review! Love four gate yea the price sucks but you get what you pay for.
Bought one as I do every year and can't wait to try it! This is a bottle that I allow myself to spend $200 on and not have a second thought about it. I'd be upset wit myself if I missed one.
Love your honesty, brother! While this one may not be as standout compared to the always evolving offerings and finishes by other distillers, I know the Kelvin’s are always one of your favorites. Sounds like the long, spicy finish restored your hope in this one towards the end compared to past releases. Slim markup on secondary is encouraging as well. Keep it up, Jason!
It's a rough sell for sure. But I do like this one. It's getting better with some airtime
Four gate Kelvin Brrrye(or this one) Master keep- unforgotten, or overpay for Stagg(formerly Jr.) at $125?
Would you rate these too to bottom?
I am curious having all three bottles
That's a good question. May go unforgotten.
i was just thinking it when you said Batman's watch! Flat black was def made popular by the Dark Knight
I can’t wait to get mine in.
Hey wanted to ask a question? I am looking to get a gift for my father and his friends they love the no 27 gold, I got them the maple finish before and the Sinatra so I wanted to ask what the next step up would be. Any suggestions?
If your looking to stick with Jack then go to the single barrel or single barrel barrel proof.
Great review Jason. I wish I could find some.
I really need to finally try a 4 gate
It shocked me how hot it drinks. It drinks like a hazmat
That’s not good!
Jason, you make some great points.
With something that is expensive and complex, how do you feel about putting one glass out for 15- xx minutes to sit in the open and then do a fresh pour.
Just a showcase, what it taste like out of the bottle, and if it gets some air ? Could even do it blind. Thanks!
Would luv to see a double bass on 1-5?
A store near me still has multiple Kelvin Collaboration II, and the owner gives me a cash discount. They are hidden behind a door frame, so people don't see them. I view these as my personal stash. 🤣 I currently have 2 in my cabinet.
Great video! Quick question so I love Kelvin collab IIII but would you recommend V or II more. Found a shop that still has some of the two left don’t really want to drop $400 at once so was wondering which one you enjoyed more?
I'd love to try a lot of bottles that are out there (Four Gate among others), but I have a hard no-go line for anything over $100...
I used to feel that same way, and we all have a price point that's reasonable for us. But when I did the math and realized I'm getting 25 pours from a bottle, a $150 bottle is the same equivalent per drink as going out for a craft beer ($6). I don't make a habit of buying the most expensive bottles, but I sure wasn't saving any money by going out for a few beers with friends vs having a couple of pours from a great bottle of whiskey.
@@MileHighGrowler that is a valid point!
The only problem for me, with whiskey at this price point, is that it better be AMAZING! Like it better knock my socks off when it is $200+ dollars. Too many solid affordable offerings out there. How much better can these be than a knob Creek of Russell’s Store Pick!?
I agree. The price is rough. However four gate is in one of those positions where they do offer something unique so it just depends how much your willing to pay for it. But yeah....I could do a Russell's. Lol
I have you, Jason, to thank for my Love of Russell’s store picks. They are just SO good. I swear I’ve had 1-2 just as good / very close to Russell’s 13.
Since it’d be my first Four Gate I’d buy, second bottle unlikely unless it knocks my socks off
Four gate has the best finish, only second to 2020 George T. Stagg BTAC
I’m like you, I love a long finish. Cheers 🥃
Just found 4 bottles of Kelvin collab 4 sitting on a shelf for $184.99. Lot of dust and ready for purchase, so I grabbed 1!!
What state are you in.

@Philip Travis Ah yes...makes sense...Let's trade if you can spare a bottle. I have some nice gems I've collected over time.
I would try before I buy on this one. Four gate is usually very good but their price sucks. I mean 200 for 7 to 9yr ehh seems steep. When for 200 I can get KC18 or 230 gets me OF19 I mean double the age bourbons for the same price. Yeah true they are not finished but I would expect older whiskey for the price
At 200 dollars, the liquor store can keep it...
Classic example of manufactured scarcity leading to stupid prices. Those stats don’t justify the price tag. Several 21 year scotches retail in this price range, they also use barrel finishing. Thanks for the review, but I just can’t justify that price tag.
Ok a new idea for you to review. Similar to you only need 5 bourbons how about the top bourbon per price window. Give us best overall and maybe a runner up for ranges below.
Under $20
$20-30
$30-40
$40-50
$50-60
$60-70
$70-100
seeing these throughout long island, ny.. ALL marked up to $400! smh..
Four Gate prices are absolutely insane. I just can’t do it.
Yeah when I can get an older Lucky Seven or Bardstown Disco for much less money I really can't see the reason to spend 60-100$ extra for younger blends.
$200 for finished 5-8 year old Bourbon. 👎
I hear you, but this bottle is 7-9 year? Still too expensive
Four Gate is ultra limited and that’s the reason for the price
They are laughing all the way to the back, cause they sell the hell out of it
Never chasing $200 whiskey again. I love so much under $100 - that's where I'll stay. Recently found Nashville NY 2 SB at Total Wine for $89. Absolute hitter.
Yeah, don't buy it please. ITS TERRIBLE.
You didn’t sound convinced on this one so it’s a pass for me. I agree with you on the others, however!
I cant help but think about how nit picky we were about price in the recent Wild Turkey tastings. Paying $200-$250 for something good not great seems silly when all the Turkey in that range is taken into account; not to mention the other few hundred bottles out there in that range.
