So if I have a chance to stock up on probably more than I really need of JDSBBFR from a Coy hill barrel house should I do it? And not wait for the Sagamore 9 to get in my area?
Good tough question. I mean if you can try the coy hill rye and it’s great go for that. Sagamore 9 is great as well very different profile. I would try to get one of each at least. JD at least probably in 2025 will continue to have picks Sagamore is once and done
Man when I look back at my whiskey purchases this past year probably 80% of them were rye. I still find bourbon delicious but ryes and especially double oaked or finished were hugging my pallet like a pair of skinny jeans. Good list. Surprised the sagamore triple finish didn't make the list
Great video, Bill. Question: if you had included some of the sagamore distillery only releases, such as the mead, albariño and VDN, where do you think they would have ranked?
The 7yr store pick you mean? Those are really good should be 110 proof they are usually better than the normal cask strength. They should be around $65 a bottle so if you don’t have any other sagamore it’s one of the better pickups that’s more findable
@ yeah, the 7 year store pick. It’s $80 in Oregon (non-store picks are price capped at MSRP, so owners make their margins on inflating store picks), but I’m starting to really get into ryes, so I feel like I’m obligated to try a sagamore.
@@vulpixelyeah I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in it the ones I’ve had are very good. You might try the double oak sagamore or even a pour of their cask strength shelfer at a bar and see if you like their profile most people seem to sagamore is a great gateway rye from bourbon
When that dropped yes my patreons could get some but that release is long gone. If they decided to do another distillery exclusive release of it I could get more but I have no clue if they will or not
Being in PA, I'm surprised you didn't review the Dad's Hat 11 year 130 proof rye that came out on Black Friday 2024. Even if you didn't like it, it would of been interesting to hear your thoughts. Regardless, great list. Looks like JD, MGP and JB are you favorite rye producers.
@@bourbonbill The Dad's Hat 11 Year is phenomenal. Dad's Hat is starting to do some very nice things. Most of their distillate is 6+ years now, and even their 95 proof Pennsylvania Straight Rye is 6+ year old juice in the bottles now and very good for the price. Their Cask Strength Ryes are usually 6-7 years and 125ish proof, and incredible. Although the VIII missed the mark a bit and has a lot of heat to it compared to their previous Cask Strength releases. They release a new cask strength every few months, as soon as the previous batch sells out. V and VII have been my two favorites so far. Looking forward to your review of their 11 year!
That’s right 2025 release. I know they had an 8, 9 and now 10 coming and then after the 10 supposedly a real special one to basically end the high aged mgp as they are cutting over to their own stuff
Do you have any interest in tequila, im in the montco /chester area. If you are interested in trying anything agave spirit adjacent i have 50+ bottles, most not available in PA
Bill Rye The Whiskey Guy as an alternate channel name. Although Bourbon Bill the is best Whiskey Tube name and channel going
I second "Bill Rye the Whiskey Guy" moniker.
Haha thanks and good suggestion
That’s some real heavy hitters
The ryes were outstanding this year for sure

It was super limited I only included the port and the 9yr so all sagamore made it that was in it lol
Great list BB!
Thanks Mike you helped make it for sure
Awesome list Bill! I just got in 2 bottles of 12 year, 10 month River Roots Rye and I can’t wait to try it!
Wow I bet it’s one of the best ryes of the year for sure that stuff is that good
Was really expecting to see more Sagamore. Were you able to try Raconteur Rye? 🥃
Haha because I’m doing a sagamore only I only included the 9yr and the port so all included made the list lol
Your interactions with Rita offscreen are fun ;)
Haha thanks we have fun filming these
great to see a top 9 whiskey of the year. Top three bourbons, top three ryes, top 3 sagamore's . see how that plays out
That would be good for sure
Great video, Bill. Question: if you had included some of the sagamore distillery only releases, such as the mead, albariño and VDN, where do you think they would have ranked?
They wouldn’t have been the bottom lol. I’m doing a sagamore blind so I only included the 9 and the port as the rest were all more limited
This thumbnail is wild.
Haha thanks
Only sagmore rye I can find is a store pick 7 year spirit. Do you think it would stand up to the shelfers you listed?

Cheers!
Is that JDSBBP Rye from cumming beverage mart in GA?
Yes it is
Peerless do is 120 near me! Still got one though 😂
Yeah still worth it so good
Any way to get the Sagamore Albarino finish through Patreon?
When that dropped yes my patreons could get some but that release is long gone. If they decided to do another distillery exclusive release of it I could get more but I have no clue if they will or not
@bourbonbill would love to see a Sag Albareno finish.
@@chipaydlette6163if they release more this year I’ll let people know

10 year Sag 🤯

Was Michter's 10 year rye 'in the running' ?
No it wasn’t didn’t get a bottle or even a sample that I remember this year
Petition to change the channel name to "Rye Bill"
Rye Bill’n Rita!
Bourbon Bill and Rye Rita has a good ring to it
Haha that does except Rita like neither lol
It’s not as catchy though you know
Mash Bill so that way you're not held to either bourbon or rye
I think my man is a rye guy
For sure most excited for the ryes this year
All Sagamore offering are hitters
Absolutely they are

I’ve never really delved too deep into it but wouldn’t mind trying some
Rita rocks
That she does
Im a Rye guy. Sagamore has never let me down. Double Oak Rye is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 How much was that ShortBarrel ???
Absolutely agree! Haven’t had a bad sagamore. And the short barrel was like $116 shipped
@bourbonbill
I appreciate the information. I'm going to track all these down this year.
