@@olivertaylor8788 Needles aren't stainless, just high chromium steel. And plenty of stainless is magnetic, like 2202, 2205, 409, 410, 420, 430, 440. They're high martensitic or high in ferrite content so a good bar type drag magnet would work beautifully.
There are already laws in place for that. The problem is there is no place for them to go. Getting rid of these tents will only push them to do it somewhere else.

How can anyone be sad about people illegally living free on beach front property and destroying public property. Of course people who are mad, sad, etc about this course of action ( which should never had been a problem to begin with) regarding making people move from unauthorized public areas could always invite these people to live at their home or camp out on their yards, neighborhoods and surrounding areas. I remember one morning several years ago at a Santa Monica residential construction job site. We were still unloading pickup trucks and here comes a transient bum-on-a-bike -- pretty fast down the middle of the residential street. He sees the trucks and tools, and all of a sudden he jams the brakes and jumps off with a sudden unexpected "problem" with his chain and is immediately crouched down, inspecting his chain "problem." He was actually scoping-out the trucks but, when he saw I was aware of what he was up to from the porch of the house, took off.
Those are humans there. They have parents. Many of them have children. Some of the people being displaced are families. I guess your point is give the beaches to clean kids and families with money, and not poor homeless ones.

We have to carry it with us all day everyday. In my city we had a deadline before the 4th to vacate. Tourists rule I guess. Our area has put many of us in motels since covid. I have a 50lb service dog and did not qualify. I am not being critical but it is not our land to claim. As long as our stuff is not visible to the public we are left alone. It is very difficult but we have to abide by rules just like others. Peace.

And nobody batted an eye, it was disgusting to be eating and see someone 50 ft. away dropping a deuce. I went to Venice today. I'd say they probably only Cleaned up about 10 ‐ 20% of the boardwalk. The homeless still own the beach. Don't be fooled
