Here is the truth, my friend. The sacred scriptures were not intended to get in the hands of the Protestants. None of them were entrusted with the sacred scriptures. Every scripture the Protestants use have been misappropriated by the Protestants to serve themselves and to pretend to be something they are not. The Epistle by the Apostle Paul called, ,"Romans" is written to the CHURCH OF ROME . Read the first 10 verses of chapter one. *Read how the Holy Spirit left an indelibly engraved* eternal word of God through the Apostles and their love and affection for the Church of Rome. ROMANS 1 the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church of Rome under inspiration of Holy Spirit. Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for. .... *the obedience of the faith, among ALL NATIONS (CATHOLIC) for HIS name* 1 The Church of Rome's faith was " *spoken of throughout the whole world* (same as all nations, "Catholic") ". Rom.1:8 2. God is Paul's witness *Paul prayed without ceasing* for the Church of Rome. Also, "Making mention of the Church of Rome always in his prayers" . Rom.1:9 3. Paul extended ' *Grace and Peace from the Father and Lord Jesus Christ to the Church of Rome* . (Rom. 1: 7) 4. *Paul thanked God for the Church of Rome* and calls them the beloved OF God!! (Rom. 1:8) 5. Romans 16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. *The churches of Christ salute you!* 6. Paul prophesied, *"The God of Peace will crush Satan under the Church of Rome's feet"* Rom.16:20 1John 2:18-19, how that *"They"* WENT OUT and left the Church because *"They"* were not of US (the church) .1John 2 goes on to say, *"for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us:* That's what Protestantism did, *"They"* went out from us. The Apostle Paul and the others makes it clear that they speak with the AUTHORITY OF CHRIST, Matt. 10:1,40 - Jesus declares to His apostles, "he who receives YOU receives ME (CHRIST), and he who rejects you, rejects Me and the One who sent Me Matt. 16:19; 18:18 - the apostles are given Christ's authority to make visible decisions on earth that will be ratified in heaven. 1 John 4: 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. The next time you drive by a cemetery remember how all those people had their chance to change during their lifetime. But now, for them that time is past and God which knows their hearts they are judged. God help the Adventists and their like for their gross dishonesty and false testimony!!! Lastly, Had Christ, HIMSELF had been given the proper name *“ROCK”* everyone in the Bible would have called Christ “PETER” Or “CEPHAS” because the ONLY way to pronounce the *proper name* "Rock" in the bible is PETER OR CEPHAS!! The Protestants are caught in their desire to deceive themselves and others!
Thank you brother Jeff for putting together this series! It seems that the RCC and the EOC just keep growing and we need teaching like this to stand firm for Christ and His glorious gospel!
Good day to you. I am from protestant background. I wish to ask you several questions, and wish to do it over Viber or Skype, because that is what I have. Let me know if you willing
For those who missed the Greek for "Breath out by God", the word is Theopneustos (θεοπνευστος), a Greek word occurring only once in the New Testament (I think). Its meaning, literally, is “God-breathed.”
These word's are called a "hapax legomenon" and are words that only appear once in the Bible and no where else in literature. Catholics would like to say that anytime something would refer to "God breathed" in any other context it would mean "life giving" or "life protecting," but that's exactly the point of a hapax legomenon; it is not being used in the same way a similar phrase is used elsewhere in culture hence the reason to create an entirely new word for such meaning. The new word gives a new meaning that is dictated by the context in which it is being used and in this context it is referring to special revelation that has been written down and preserved by God's chosen people (The apostles and disciples in this case.)
Thanks. I've learned something new. It makes you wonder how a word can be translated accurately if there's no context to compare it to.@@inShapeJamesSherman
@@jarofclay8900 in James White’s debate with Lee Baker he expounds upon contextual criticism specifically in regard the the transmission of the Bible if you’d be interested in watching that.
Followers of the Church of Rome seem to like to say something about the “early church”, making outsiders think of the days of Acts, and then say stuff that happened in 700 AD
2 Timothy 3:16 ‐ says All Scripture, but not "Only" Scripture. Additionally, when read in context of all of chapter 3, verse 16 is referring exclusively to the Old Testament Scriptures, not the Gospels nor the Epistles of the New Testament.
Pornography exposure increases rates of homosexuality. Greater pornography use leads to ever greater instances of pornography. I believe pornography has also influenced those identifying as trans
No it doesn't. I watch porn and I'm not trans, in fact I'm dating a wonderful woman. Goes to show you political idealisms and religious belief don't mix.
@@tpw7250 That's not my question. I'm saying, Who determines what came from God? There is no list of what scriptures are scripture in the scriptures. So my question is how do you know which canon is the right one?
@truthnotlies The right Canon would be the one that is not on the left. Logic, my friend. I can send you the amazon link for the Bible if you want? I'll warn you though, its an ESV, and the print isn't very big.
I am still looking for that one verse where the Sabbath was changed or is it still written on pillars of rock? (Chapter one paragraph 5 of westminister confession of faith? ) All Scripture includes OT.
I like that this video alot, thank you pastor Jeff🙏 1 thing I'm wondering about is why we don't change back to Saturday sabbath the 7th day wich God said to be a sign between God's ppl and God. In Christ we are drafted in as God's people right? Sunday worship was added later after scripture and was nr 1 complaint from Catholics to Protestants in the old days(you claim sola scriptures and you dont even keep the sabbat?).
I’m pretty sure that Pastor Durbin is pro-sabbath. And the reason that Christians celebrate on the first day instead of the seventh is because we believe that scriptures tell us to do this. Check out this sermon from Pastor Wilson (a friend to Jeff Durbin and Apologia). ruclips.net/video/EFIdlv63W6w/видео.htmlsi=hHMAnZnoff7vERrk
First and foremost this is not about salvation but what is good and right (righteousness). Joh 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Exo 31:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Exo 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Exo 31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Exo 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Exo 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. Exo 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. >>>>> Perpetual covenant. What is the real meaning of perpetual? continuing forever : everlasting 1. : continuing forever : everlasting. 2. : occurring continually : constant. perpetually..
Yeah, how would they know? Ask them and they'll defer to "the Church." Ask them how they know they can trust "the Church" and they'll say that's what the Bible says. It's all viciously circular and good luck getting them to see it.
Sola Scriptura And Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, take up your bibles and memorize My words. Interpret them for your just cause.” At these words there was much murmuring among the crowd. Jesus asked Peter, “What troubles my disciples?” One of the disciples, hearing Jesus’s question, asked Jesus, “What is a bible?” Jesus said to them, “the bible is a compilation of all My teachings that have been written down for everyone to see.” Jesus turned to Matthew, “Matt, my beloved follower, did you know that what you are writing down, here today, will be part of a book that will last 2000 years?” Matthew sheepishly, smiled back at Jesus and replied “no Rabbi, I was just writing this down as a testament to all that I had seen and heard You do and teach. It has been really extraordinary.” But again, much murmuring took place among the crowd. So again, Jesus asked them, “What troubles my disciples?” Another man turned and asked Jesus, “Teacher, how are we to know Your words as written, when we know not how to read?” Jesus reflected on this and replied, “My children must be patient, and… in several hundred years, with the proper social standing, some of you will know how to read.” The crowd was displeased at the words that Jesus spoke, but He calmed them, “Fear not, eventually almost all of you will be able to read, regardless of social standing.” Another disciple, a man from Hebron, called Gary, spoke to Jesus, “Teacher, how do we acquire one of these… bibles? Books are very rare and extremely expensive and I am but a poor farmer.” Jesus replied, “Well… ok, so here’s the deal, you will have to wait until the invention of the printing press in about 400 years, then the translation of my words into the tongues of the world, and then maybe, if you are in the proper social standing, you can buy a bible. Eventually, by the eighteenth century books will become more affordable and families will each have their family bible to pass on to generations. The crowd was very confused by the words that Jesus spoke. Even the twelve were troubled. One of the disciples asked Him, “Teacher, how will we know how to interpret Your words as written in times to come?” Jesus said, “Oh each of you will be able to interpret My words just by reading the bible for the Truth is written.” The disciples discussed this among themselves. One said, ”So we get to decide the meaning of your words and which teachings are most important?” Jesus started to speak, “No, the words I have said, and those that are written, are the true Word of God and…” but the crowd was too busy talking among themselves and did not hear His words. One said, “Wow, this is such a relief, we didn’t know what to think of that “must eat My Flesh and drink My Blood” part You were saying up on the mountain, and You just kept going on about it.” “Yeah,” another said, “I just like the parts where You talk about believing in You, as savior, the rest seemed too hard.” Jesus tried to speak over the crowd as they walked away, still talking amongst themselves. “Wait… What about my Church?” but the evil one had entered the crowd and was whispering in their ears so they could not hear Him. Jesus, Peter, and the other apostles watched the crowd as they went, forming little groups of like minded people as they walked farther away from Jesus’s Word and entered back into the towns.
@@timrosen1618 your mind is clouded with the words of Durbin. Where did I deny scripture? Everyone seems to be missing the point on this because I have posted on several videos. I will try to make it brief. This is warning to Protestants, and to some degree Catholics. I DO NOT DENY SCRIPTURE AS DIVINELY INSPIRED NOR DO I DENY IT"S INFALLIBILITY. The problem here lies with men, mankind is fallible. In the beginning, there was no written gospel of Jesus Christ. There was, in a sense, an oral tradition that had to be written down (divinely inspired). The gospels began to be written shortly after Jesus's resurrection, that we know of.. Then the Bible was beginning to form. Then first it was Catholic, then it was Protestant. Words were added, words were not added. The Catholic Church determined meaning, then Martin Luther, then John Calvin, etc... Books were added, books were taken away. It took years to copy a Bible by hand and they were very expensive. We have the gospel, no, we have the gospel, no, we have the gospel... If you don't believe what I believe you are going to hell!... Let's hate and kill each other... All the while the Catholic Church is spreading the Gospel orally to millions of peasants who cannot read or write. The Catholic Church locked up the Bible to prevent theft and desecration (ripping our pages etc). The Catholic Church fought against the translation of the Bible into other languages, not because they were hiding something, but because they feared translation errors and theoretically, anyone who could read Greek, Latin, or Hebrew, could translate the Bible themselves. This led to, you guessed it, translation errors and gave rise to a bunch of versions of the Bible. The invention of the printing press and distribution of the Bible in common language led some to question some of the Catholic Churches teachings. Rightly so.. Protestants then threw off the authority of the papacy. The authority, real or imagined, had been a binding force in the church for centuries. After this, there was no guide to scripture, nothing was stopping people from interpreting the Bible however they saw fit. This led to all kinds of unforeseen problems. Cue 30,000+ Protestant denominations. To deny that divine revelation can occur, and has occurred, to guide us on the true meaning of scripture is folly. This is to say, revelation has not added to or taken away from scripture, but helped us determine the true meaning, to make sure we have not strayed from the message. This can be problematic too, cue the Mormon Church. The revelation must be consistent with the Gospel or revelation and Gospel leads to a conclusion. Unfortunately, we have to admit that Satan can influence the development of the Bible. Martin Luther was thought by many of his contemporaries to be possessed by a demon. He admitted as such, and said that he spoke with Satan on numerous occasions. Later he recanted everything that he had said about the Catholic Church. Don't believe me, look it up. If this is true or not, the point is, the devil can influence people in all kinds of ways especially when people start thinking they know what is best. This can lead us farther and farther away from the true meaning of the Gospel, cue Joel Olsteen, and what it means to be Christian. It leads to confusion and division and what is the church that Jesus wanted us to build. Finally, there is nothing wrong with tradition. I assume you celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December. We should be concerned when tradition begins to change the meaning of scripture or the tradition does not honor the message of the Gospel. To claim Sola Scriptura (the infallibility of the Gospel) is true, however, that is not how Sola Scriptura is used. It is used largely to deny divine revelation that may have happened after the Gospel was written. Theoretically, no divine revelation would contradict the Gospel. Protestants, in turn, seem to use this premise to claim that the Gospel is theirs alone and they are somehow morally superior to Catholics because they say scripture is sufficient and that scripture interprets itself. Scripture is sufficient but men are not. And if you think that divine revelation is some grandiose idea. Just go pray, and you may find it for yourself. God bless you.
@en1618 I would say that there were a lot of things - the holy eucharist, apostolic succession, intercession of the saints, Mary being the Mother of God. But I think the biggest thing was actually the problems of Sola Scriptura and the need for an infallible source outside of Sacred Scripture that can infallibly declare the truth of what the Scriptures teach.
I wish I was as wonderful and loving as all the protestants watching this video. It really makes me want to be Christian especially a protestant. Ive watched protestant videos and catholic videos. the protestant videos always bash catholics, especially in the comment section, while the catholic videos mostly ignore the negative comments from the few protestants that chime in... its been really interesting. it seems like protestants feel like they have to continuously justify their position, while catholics seem content with their position and generally seem more kind.
23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. Here's what every Christian is called to do. The fire is also fueled by some prominent social media and RUclips creators, Christians. It's a joke and people, Christians, like to cherry pick and overlook verses like these. This Jeff guy is reading from 2 Timothy, the verses pasted above are also from 2 Timothy. Just ignored
@@michellecheriekjv4115 how do you know that they have the wrong Gospel? Cause Jeff Durbin told you? James White? They make a lot of money doing what they do.. I encourage you to take a deep dive, and look at the founders of the reformation, the stuff they never tell you.. Also do some research on the first 500 years of the church. I assume you know, we are saved by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and our faith that He is our savior. Yes, Catholics believe this. But why send Jesus, if salvation for the elect cannot be lost? What is gained by his sacrifice? And, if faith alone shall save us, why did Jesus give us a new commandment to follow? And, what does the new commandment actually mean?
RCC is a power play tradition from medieval times. So, it really doesn't matter because Catholicism exists only as an irrelevant organization. Sad but true, not the Pope or Cardinal actually believe basic Christian things. It's lol
The reason it's that way is because all of our theology, teaching, correction, and Identity of who the Son of God is, because we have an anchor of subjective truth, the Word of God. It amazes me how some suppose self claimed Christians don't accept Scripture alone as a objective infallible truth of all matters on the salvation of mankind
@@alanmiller5460 There was never ever any selling of indulgences. I am afraid this is just propaganda the reformers pushed. An indulgence is not for the forgiveness of sins. @@alanmiller5460 "They didn't need it yet" Oh really? The most FUNDAMENTAL and IMPORTANT Doctrine (to protestants) was not needed yet? But when the Catholic Church defines the Papacy as being true and we try to tell you "That it was not needed yet" That answer DOES NOT APPEASE YOU. Does it? LOL
It's weird how the early Church did not talk about Sola Scripture considering how allegedly fundamental it is. Luther himself didn't even know about it. He "found it" later on in his life.
Ever heard of Athanasius of Alexandria? You should try reading on the actual matter of Scripture to find it. Here is a letter Titled against the Heathen by Athanasius part 3 . Doctrine of Scripture on the subject of Part 3. Has then the divine teaching, which abolished the godlessness of the heathen or the idols, passed over in silence, and left the race of mankind to go entirely unprovided with the knowledge of God? Not so: rather it anticipates their understanding when it says : Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God is one God; and again, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your strength; and again, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve, and shall cleave to Him. 2. But that the providence and ordering power of the Word also, over all and toward all, is attested by all inspired Scripture, this passage suffices to confirm our argument, where men who speak of God say : You have laid the foundation of the earth and it abides. The day continues according to Your ordinance. And again : Sing to our God upon the harp, that covers the heaven with clouds, that prepares rain for the earth, that brings forth grass upon the mountains, and green herb for the service of man, and gives food to the cattle. 3. But by whom does He give it, save by Him through Whom all things were made? For the providence over all things belongs naturally to Him by Whom they were made; and who is this save the Word of God, concerning Whom in another psalm he says: By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the Breath of His mouth. For He tells us that all things were made in Him and through Him. 4. Wherefore He also persuades us and says , He spoke and they were made, He commanded and they were created; as the illustrious Moses also at the beginning of his account of Creation confirms what we say by his narrative Genesis 1:20, saying: and God said, let us make man in our image and after our likeness: for also when He was carrying out the creation of the heaven and earth and all things, the Father said to Him Genesis 1:6-11, Let the heaven be made, and let the waters be gathered together and let the dry land appear, and let the earth bring forth herb and every green thing: so that one must convict Jews also of not genuinely attending to the Scriptures. 5. For one might ask them to whom was God speaking, to use the imperative mood? If He were commanding and addressing the things He was creating, the utterance would be redundant, for they were not yet in being, but were about to be made; but no one speaks to what does not exist, nor addresses to what is not yet made a command to be made. For if God were giving a command to the things that were to be, He must have said, Be made, heaven, and be made, earth, and come forth, green herb, and be created, O man. But in fact He did not do so; but He gives the command thus: Let us make man, and let the green herb come forth. By which God is proved to be speaking about them to some one at hand: it follows then that some one was with Him to Whom He spoke when He made all things. 6. Who then could it be, save His Word? For to whom could God be said to speak, except His Word? Or who was with Him when He made all created Existence, except His Wisdom, which says Proverbs 8:27: When He was making the heaven and the earth I was present with Him? But in the mention of heaven and earth, all created things in heaven and earth are included as well. 7. But being present with Him as His Wisdom and His Word, looking at the Father He fashioned the Universe, and organised it and gave it order; and, as He is the power of the Father, He gave all things strength to be, as the Saviour says : Whatever things I see the Father doing, I also do in like manner. And His holy disciples teach that all things were made through Him and unto Him; 8. and, being the good Offspring of Him that is good, and true Son, He is the Father's Power and Wisdom and Word, not being so by participation , nor as if these qualifies were imparted to Him from without, as they are to those who partake of Him and are made wise by Him, and receive power and reason in Him; but He is the very Wisdom, very Word, and very own Power of the Father, very Light, very Truth, very Righteousness, very Virtue, and in truth His express Image, and Brightness, and Resemblance. And to sum all up, He is the wholly perfect Fruit of the Father, and is alone the Son, and unchanging Image of the Father. 47. Necessity of a return to the Word if our corrupt nature is to be restored. Who then, who can declare the Father by number, so as to discover the powers of His Word? For like as He is the Father's Word and Wisdom, so too condescending to created things, He becomes, to impart the knowledge and apprehension of Him that begot Him, His very Brightness and very Life, and the Door, and the Shepherd, and the Way, and King and Governor, and Saviour over all, and Light, and Giver of Life, and Providence over all. Having then such a Son begotten of Himself, good, and Creator, the Father did not hide Him out of the sight of His creatures, but even day by day reveals Him to all by means of the organisation and life of all things, which is His work. 2. But in and through Him He reveals Himself also, as the Saviour says John 14:10: I in the Father and the Father in Me: so that it follows that the Word is in Him that begot Him, and that He that is begotten lives eternally with the Father. But this being so, and nothing being outside Him, but both heaven and earth and all that in them is being dependent on Him, yet men in their folly have set aside the knowledge and service of Him, and honoured things that are not instead of things that are: and instead of the real and true God deified things that were not, serving the creature rather than the Creator Romans 1:25, thus involving themselves in foolishness and impiety. 3. For it is just as if one were to admire the works more than the workman, and being awestruck at the public works in the city, were to make light of their builder, or as if one were to praise a musical instrument but to despise the man who made and tuned it. Foolish and sadly disabled in eyesight! For how else had they known the building, or ship, or lyre, had not the ship-builder made it, the architect built it, or the musician fashioned it? 4. As then he that reasons in such a way is mad, and beyond all madness, even so affected in mind, I think, are those who do not recognise God or worship His Word, our Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour of all, through Whom the Father orders, and holds together all things, and exercises providence over the Universe; having faith and piety towards Whom, my Christ-loving friend, be of good cheer and of good hope, because immortality and the kingdom of heaven is the fruit of faith and devotion towards Him, if only the soul be adorned according to His laws. For just as for them who walk after His example, the prize is life everlasting, so for those who walk the opposite way, and not that of virtue, there is great shame, and peril without pardon in the day of judgment, because although they knew the way of truth their acts were contrary to their knowledge.

Durbin sets up two categories: Words from God and words from those who claim to have words from God. "He makes a distinction between the words of those who claim to be from God and His words. His words are infallible, clear. The very words of God. His words are authoritative" Which category does a sermon fall into? Who decides which category the sermon belongs to? Sermons are not authoritative? The words of a pastor are not authoritative?
It's remarkable how "read your Bible if you want to know what God has to say" makes someone who claims to believe in that very same God so angry, isn't it? It's almost enough to make one conclude that what they claim to believe is not the same as what they actually believe....
@codywormy6920 Hey look, found one of the angry Catholics! No, sorry bud - the only "word salad" anywhere near here is the garbage put out by the Catholic Church, which is purposefully designed to be as impenetrable and verbose as possible.
And if sola scriptura, how did the scriptures become compiled? There is no list of what scriptures to include in the scriptures.... How does that work? Genuinely interested in a response.
One of the ways was the test of whether an Apostle wrote them. Another way was their witness to each other. For example how Peter referred to Paul's writings as "Scripture".
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 And the old testament books? I don't think the majority dispute New Testament books. You'd have to compare a typical Protestant Bible with those used for centuries by Catholic and Orthodox which share many more books.
That question doesnt really have anything to do with Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura means that scripture is the sole infallible authority because it’s God-breathed. This doesn’t mean that we can’t have tradition, it means that tradition has to be checked by the sole infallible authority. All Christians agree on most of the canon. We all agree on new testament books and we mostly agree on old testament books. NT was easier to canonize because the apostles taught and familiarized their students with their writing that was God breathed. The churches had also been reading and circulating these writings since the beginning. Most of the fake gospels are easy to spot because they are clearly written elsewhere and at a later date. If you want a good resource for a protestant stance on the canon, look up “truth unites new testament canon”, “truth unites old testament” or “truth unites apocrypha”. James White also has some good videos on the canon and the study of biblical manuscripts. God bless you brother
@@truthnotlies The OT books were also named as the truly Inspired Word of God by Christ himself. He used "Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms" when he was on the road to Emmaus. He mentioned the Book of Jonah. Things of that nature. I hope this helps.
@@ogloc6308 Protestants mostly outright reject many of the old testament books that have been traditionally accepted for centuries (including ones that were generally accepted before the Catholic and Orthodox split, hence the Catholic and Orthodox similarities in canon), however. So no, it's not mostly agreed upon at all. Either the tradition holds sway from centuries before Protestantism, or it doesn't and people had faulty Old Testaments for centuries. That would also mean the older tradition was wrong but the new tradition is right. Which logically leads to a problem - if older traditions of what was supposed to be in the Old Testament is wrong, then people can easily say more should be removed, which has been argued and still is to this day by many groups. So what tradition are we to stick to then?
1. Sola scriptura -not biblical and not in the bible 2. 1611 king james has 73 books up untill about the mid 1800s . Which scriptura do you have? 3. Luther removed many new testament books . Why does yours have the books that are missing from luther?
For all those who *CLAIM* they believe in *"Scripture ALONE"* , they ALL should be *SILENT* and hand out the *"BIBLE ALONE"* The moment people *start telling other people what THEY think the bible says* and apply it to what THEY think it means, *the bible is NOT ALONE* They become hypocrites! And, that is how every heresy begins, the Protestants and the cults simply can't leave the scripture ALONE.
1. False. When does the Bible appeal to an authority outside of itself? 2. False. The RCC added those books because they lend support to some of the Churches false teachings. Those books were NEVER considered canonical by the Jewish people or Christians. And Catholics generally don't read the Bible at all, so adding books doesn't help 'em anyhow. 3. False. But what books are you claiming are "missing" from the New Testament?
@@billclass5847 That's pure idiocy. ... But are YOU claiming that YOU know what the Bible says? The RCC is rife with heresies. And we know that because we can know what the Bible says but reading it and studying it as we are commanded to do... in the Bible.
Scripture is the infallible word of God. It stands alone. Apostles creed and the counsel of Nicia in 325 are the only two that I see as 100% in liine with Scripture. There is no reason to go to the creeds and standards. We have the holy scripture and the Holy Spirit to teach and guide. Why would we require any thing else. Scripture IS the preaching of the cross.
Scripture is PROFITABLE, doesn't say REQUIRED. Man if you guys could read this all would be over. But you wouldn't know any of that... without the Scriptures. And NOTHING in scripture teaches the CATHOLIC TRADITION of the insufficiency of Scripture, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

All the church fathers and the great theologians of the early church were fools right Jeff . Busy misinterpreting what Jesus said to drag people to he'll huh? Then here comes Jeff ! A giant mind who has been given by God the knowledge to be the man who has figured it out . Please , ask for forgiveness .
It is interesting that Durbin disagrees with St. Paul on what can be known with certainty from general revelation. "We only know with certainty about general revelation and natural revelation because special revelation, Scripture tells us about it. ... How do we know creation shouts to us about God? Because God's Word tells us. The only way we have certainty about general revelation is because special revelation tells us about it." St. Paul: "...that which may be KNOWN OF GOD is manifest in them; for God HATH SHEWED IT UNTO THEM. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are CLEARLY SEEN, being UNDERSTOOD by the things that are made, EVEN HIS ETERNAL POWER AND GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when THEY KNEW GOD, they glorified him not as God..." Paul says that God can be known with certainty from general revelation which is in direct contradiction with Durbin's claim. Does the fact that Durbin disagrees with St. Paul make him a true or a false teacher? Another interesting note is that he holds up a Bible translated from a manuscript which does not exist and claims that it is the Word of God--God-breathed. I did not think many pastors believed the translated Bible is God-breathed. Most evangelicals do not claim infallibility for the Bible in the pulpit. I was surprised to see this. It seems slight-of-hand to define inerrancy as "without error in the original manuscripts" and then hold up a Bible translated from a manuscript which does not exist and then claim that the Bible in hand is inerrant.
So funny hearing Protestants claim Sola Scriptura, when they have dozens of conflicting confessions that all claim to be in line with scripture. The Holy Spirit cannot lie, this is true, and He guides the one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church into all truth.
So funny Rome rejects this when their doctrines have evolved over the centuries and their dogmas have absolutely zero basis in scripture. Just believe whatever the church says to believe 🤫 🤐 you have no choice in the matter. Who are you to question the church? Good luck with that.
Different denominations of Protestants may disagree on certain specific interpretations of Scripture, but they still consider Scripture as the sole infallible authority. Notice those disagreements are around SCRIPTURE...not what the church says, not what happened in history, not what a Church Father said, nothing else, only what Scripture says.
Was He guiding Rome when she killed william tyndale for the crime of translating the Bible into English, for the comman man to read ? Was He guiding Rome when she made the Bible a forbidden book to read, with severe penalties for those caught owning one ? And what about the spanish inquision, when rome murdered thousands of people for not agreeing with her? Well does the book of Revelation describe the RCC as a harlot, drunk with the blood of the martys of Jesus. ( Rev 17) She who sits upon the seven hills is corrupt, and people should heed the warning to come out of her. Everyone should read "50 years in the church of Rome" ( Abridged Edition) by Charles Chiniquy, a real eye opener. ?
@@telabib the history of the church is messy, just as Jeff Durbin says in this sermon. All of us Christians must deal with this. People have been abused, mistreated, and killed by Christians unjustly by Catholics and Protestants. The Catholic church is not the harlot in Revelation. The Vatican does not sit on the seven hills. This reference is to the pagan Roman Empire.
So funny hearing Catholics claim they have biblical truth when the RCC teaches so many things contrary to the Bible - like the perpetual virginity of Mary, Mary worship (sorry, "veneration"), praying to saints, Purgatory, and on and on. Which statement in this video did you disagree with, and upon what biblical basis? Give the time stamp.
I’m curious how you guys dance around the 4th commandment because I appreciate most of what you have to say but from what I understand from the scriptures. Sabbath wasn’t done away with and even in Christs day they kept it. But I know Constantine changed it to Sun-day. I also know where it talks in scripture about not letting anyone judge you concerning what you eat. Col 2:16
The Catholics even say you Protestants need to get in line because if your keeping Sun-day your following us. They say it’s their mark of ecclesiastical authority.
Some groups are obsessed with the mission to bring all of Christianity and the entire world Under the *"ministration of DEATH and CONDEMNATION WRITTEN AND ENGRAVED IN STONES"* 2Cor. 3:7-9 and *the letter that "killeth"* (vs.6) of *the law engraved in the tablets of stone!* ( *2 Cor. 3:7* ), called the *"Ministration of DEATH"* , and the *"Ministration of condemnation"* VS 8-9 and use Christ's name to do it! 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord IS THAT Spirit: and where the *Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY.* *The Apostle Paul condemns the Judaziers saying. Once you get that, you will before forced to come to Christ for mercy and forgiveness. The very fact that 2Cor.3:6-9 calls *the 10 commandments the MINISTRATION OF DEATH AND CONDEMNATION WRITTEN & ENGRAVED IN STONE proves Col. **2:16** means the weekly Sabbath.* Then speaking of the law written and engraved in stone, the Apostle Paul says the following: 2Cor. 3:11 *For if that which IS done away* was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious (the giving of the Holy Spirit, by Grace through Faith) . 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, *we use great plainness of speech* : 13 And not as Moses, *which put a veil over his face,* that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of *that which IS abolished: * Romans 7:6 • *But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held* ; that we should serve in *newness of spirit, and NOT in the oldness of the letter.* Now compare that with Eph. 2:15, God does not require Christians to keep the law of Moses in order to follow "His Commandments." . God's commandments for Christians has nothing to do with being Jewish. The Adventists and their like all do the same thing with Eph. 2:15 and then say the 10 commandments are NOT A WITNESS against those who profess to keep them! But, they will lie and deceive to do anything to keep your followers at the expense of going to hell in the process. *But, beware, if you return to the LAW OF THE ministration of death and condemnation, WRITTEN AND ENGRAVED IN STONE *there will be no more sacrifice for your sins, because you have done despite to the Spirit of Grace and trodden underfoot the blood of Christ by whom you were ONCE sanctified (Heb.10:28) Heb. 4:4 *For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb. 4:5 have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, *Heb. 4:6: *If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.* God does not require Christians to keep the law of Moses in order to follow "His Commandments." . Reading into that passage the present day list of traditions that the RCC teaches as dogma is simply treating the Bible with an incredible lack of respect. What is the tradition that was transmitted by the apostles before the finished canon? The teaching that ended up IN the New Testament.
The giant St. Agustine said; I would Not believe in the scriptures if it were not for the authority of the catholic church. St. Agustine was NOT on yours and Calvin's side, only when taking his words out of context then sure.
Catholic or catholic. Small c means the universal church which relates to what is truely God's church. Good to do a study on Classical theology but as Pastor Durbin says the standard is as in accordance with God's Word.
@marlak1104 umm, the Catholic Church was the only church around back then and I can prove it, the only church back then had A Pope! 266 popes of an unbroken chain, apostolic succession. So you guys making up the small "c" in the word catholic and think it was the real church is not recorded in history. The only one's that were recorded were all the HERETICS that thought they were the one true church. And that is continuing on even today. But Christ built ONE church, and John Calvin built another, then James White built another. I've just given you historic facts.
@jessebryant9233 because God said so. Paul let us know that Christ and the church are ONE, and it's a deep deep mystery. So since christ is infallible then the teachings of the church are too. The essential teachings called Dogmas its what's infallible, because it's given by God. So that we know how to be saved, follow Christ, and that we ALL believe and follow the SAME teachings, making it ONE CHURCH, the Church that Christ himself built. Which is full of sinners yes, but God draws straight with crooked lines. Men can't be trusted, but God can be.
@@nikolakrcic1021 So you're appealing to SCRIPTURE as your final authority then? Interesting... And how would you know if the teachings of the Church are correct or not? And did you just say that the Scriptures ARE sufficient? Uniformity ≠ truth, does it? Much of the NT was about settling disputes in the early church... Also, no, not even God can draw straight with a crocked line. It's just not possible. And if men can't be trusted-why do you trust "the Church"? It's full of sinners, isn't it? Yes, GOD can be trusted-which is why we start with the words of GOD, not what men claim those words mean. We need to wrestle with the truths of Scripture ourselves-not just take the words of fallible men who claim to be an authority on blind faith. This is why Jesus said, "Search the Scriptures..."
@@jessebryant9233 The example was chosen no doubt because it can safely assumed to be agreed upon but even more so for the shock factor. But it only came across as offensive as it is so obviously strange that speaking of it remained only theoretical because, for it to be otherwise, would require discussing the finer points of when cannibalism happens and is it ever justified, etc. Something which would require not only some peculiar and specific knowledge (that someone might not have) but is also a large side track into an appalling topic that someone might not be willing to discuss. Notice I'm not disagreeing that his point is ultimately true - it is. However, you could make the same point using something that is familiar to your opponent not only to make it a more powerful, personal argument but to give your opponent the best opportunity to answer it in order to show their best answers are still terrible. I think something like slavery or murder would have been a much better example, just as obvious and agreed upon, but then it could be personally applied to their opponents by applying it to abortion exposing their hypocrisy.
Paul isn't infallible. Paul had the ability to err. Scripture doesn't have the ability to be wrong, because it is Scripture which is breathed out by God.
The church and Christ are ONE! This is why the church is infallible, because Jesus is God, and God is infallible. That's why we can trust the Dogmas of the catholic church, Not the men in the church, but the Dogmas, aka God's revelation.
@codywormy6920 yes I'm talking about Historic Christianity, known as the universal Christian church aka The catholic church, which is 2,000 years old. John Calvin's form of Christianity is 500 years old.
The Catholic church is a Luciferian cult. Praying to Mary is goddess worship. The amount of heresy in that "church" is astonishing. Literally doing tons of rituals the bible specifically says not to do.
@@nikolakrcic1021Do you even know why the early church started calling themselves catholic? Hint: have you heard of the gnostics? The issue i have with this Sermon is Scripture is nothing without the Holy Ghost. That was poured out upon the Earth to be the guide after the death of Christ. But Apologia teaches not to listen to the Holy Ghost and instead puts the Word up as an Idol. And the fruit thereof is to contend with others....
do you think it was the holy ghost that put the scripture words to the apostles to write the bible books/letters ? In THIS exact way, is how the Holy Ghost is involved in Scripture, and not by US today claiming we can add to the Bible because, well, now its poured out upon the earth so whatever the spirit did back then needs reconfirmation now by us or every new generation to add something to it..
In what way is the Word of God an idol to Apologia? The idea is that the Word of God is the only ultimate authority, not that it is an object of worship. Jesus is the object of worship.
@@stevie2futhe Pharisees missed the heart of the law and added their own traditions to it. Your argument makes no sense. You can use it for anything. Like Catholics and Eastern Orthodox worship the church, their man made traditions, etc. you literally don’t have a valid point.
This is Calvinist rubbish. Calvinist teaching is heresy. Reformed churches don't go back to the early church. These people are intellectually dishonest about their history. Reformed churches today spang out of Calvinism invented by John Calvin in 1555. The Encyclopedia Britannica says the Roman Catholic Church was started by Jesus and his Apostles in 33 A.D., therefore Reformed churches are not the apostolic church, just another Protestant church with no ancient roots.

*Read how the
Holy Spirit left an indelibly engraved* eternal word of God through the Apostles and their love and affection for the Church of Rome. ROMANS 1 the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church of Rome under inspiration of Holy Spirit. Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for. .... *the obedience of the faith, among ALL NATIONS (CATHOLIC) for HIS name*
1 The Church of Rome's faith was " *spoken of throughout the whole world* (same as all nations, "Catholic") ". Rom.1:8
2. God is Paul's witness *Paul prayed without ceasing* for the Church of Rome.
Also, "Making mention of the Church of Rome always in his prayers" . Rom.1:9
3. Paul extended ' *Grace and Peace from the Father and Lord Jesus Christ to the Church of Rome* . (Rom. 1: 7)
4. *Paul thanked God for the Church of Rome* and calls them the beloved OF God!! (Rom. 1:8)
5. Romans 16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. *The churches of Christ salute you!*
6. Paul prophesied, *"The God of Peace will crush Satan under the Church of Rome's feet"* Rom.16:20
1John 2:18-19, how that *"They"* WENT OUT and left the Church because *"They"* were not of US (the church) .1John 2 goes on to say, *"for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us:* That's what Protestantism did, *"They"* went out from us.
The Apostle Paul and the others makes it clear that they speak with the AUTHORITY OF CHRIST, Matt. 10:1,40 - Jesus declares to His apostles, "he who receives YOU receives ME (CHRIST), and he who rejects you, rejects Me and the One who sent Me
Matt.
For those who missed the Greek for "Breath out by God", the word is Theopneustos (θεοπνευστος), a Greek word occurring only once in the New Testament (I think). Its meaning, literally, is “God-breathed.”
Gk. #2315 in Strong's Concordance. What you stated is correct.
" I don't use Strongs sir, I TEACH GREEK!" 😮 OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH LOL

2 Timothy 3:16 ‐ says All Scripture, but not "Only" Scripture.
Additionally, when read in context of all of chapter 3, verse 16 is referring exclusively to the Old Testament Scriptures, not the Gospels nor the Epistles of the New Testament.

Yeah, how would they know? Ask them and they'll defer to "the Church." Ask them how they know they can trust "the Church" and they'll say that's what the Bible says. It's all viciously circular and good luck getting them to see it.
How do you get a Bible without the infallible Catholic Church?
Well how did you get the Scriptures if not for men at councils??? I'm confused.
@dman7668 I got mine off of Amazon, not the Catholic Church.
@@tpw7250 And how do you know it is the correct canon?
Sola Scriptura
And Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, take up your bibles and memorize My words. Interpret them for your just cause.”
At these words there was much murmuring among the crowd. Jesus asked Peter, “What troubles my disciples?” One of the disciples, hearing Jesus’s question, asked Jesus, “What is a bible?”
Jesus said to them, “the bible is a compilation of all My teachings that have been written down for everyone to see.” Jesus turned to Matthew, “Matt, my beloved follower, did you know that what you are writing down, here today, will be part of a book that will last 2000 years?” Matthew sheepishly, smiled back at Jesus and replied “no Rabbi, I was just writing this down as a testament to all that I had seen and heard You do and teach. It has been really extraordinary.” But again, much murmuring took place among the crowd. So again, Jesus asked them, “What troubles my disciples?” Another man turned and asked Jesus, “Teacher, how are we to know Your words as written, when we know not how to read?”
Jesus reflected on this and replied, “My children must be patient, and… in several hundred years, with the proper social standing, some of you will know how to read.”
The crowd was displeased at the words that Jesus spoke, but He calmed them, “Fear not, eventually almost all of you will be able to read, regardless of social standing.”
Another disciple, a man from Hebron, called Gary, spoke to Jesus, “Teacher, how do we acquire one of these… bibles? Books are very rare and extremely expensive and I am but a poor farmer.” Jesus replied, “Well… ok, so here’s the deal, you will have to wait until the invention of the printing press in about 400 years, then the translation of my words into the tongues of the world, and then maybe, if you are in the proper social standing, you can buy a bible. Eventually, by the eighteenth century books will become more affordable and families will each have their family bible to pass on to generations.
The crowd was very confused by the words that Jesus spoke. Even the twelve were troubled. One of the disciples asked Him, “Teacher, how will we know how to interpret Your words as written in times to come?” Jesus said, “Oh each of you will be able to interpret My words just by reading the bible for the Truth is written.”
The disciples discussed this among themselves.
Well done. Former Protestant, now Catholic. Jesus has brought me to his true Body, His true Church - the fulness of the faith.

@en1618 I would say that there were a lot of things - the holy eucharist, apostolic succession, intercession of the saints, Mary being the Mother of God. Find me the doctrine of Sola Scripture in the early Church, Jeff. Let's hold your own criticisms to yourself.
They didn’t need it yet the church wasn’t corrupt as they became, selling indulgences for forgiveness of sins etc etc etc.

It's weird how the early Church did not talk about Sola Scripture considering how allegedly fundamental it is. Luther himself didn't even know about it. He "found it" later on in his life.
Ever heard of Athanasius of Alexandria? You should try reading on the actual matter of Scripture to find it. Here is a letter Titled against the Heathen by Athanasius part 3

The very fact that 2Cor.3:6-9 calls *the 10 commandments the MINISTRATION OF DEATH AND CONDEMNATION WRITTEN & ENGRAVED IN STONE proves Col. **2:16** means the weekly Sabbath.*
Then speaking of the law written and engraved in stone, the Apostle Paul says the following: 2Cor. 3:11 *For if that which IS done away* was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious (the giving of the Holy Spirit, by Grace through Faith) .

We need to wrestle with the truths of Scripture ourselves-not just take the words of fallible men who claim to be an authority on blind faith. This is why Jesus said, "Search the Scriptures..."
Please stop with the eating people thing... It's a terrible example in the first place but it's also just a reminder of that embarrassing debate... 😕
What would be a good example? What embarrassing debate?

So how is it that eating folks is a "terrible example"?
Why is he screaming?? 😫 It's hard to listen to

Not sure how that verse gives him an excuse to scream 🤣

How come Man is fallible but Paul isn't?
Because he was an Apostle and we are not?
Paul was inspired by the holy Spirit all accept is breathed out by God and Paul's writings are scripture!
@@adelalax3553 So he's infallible?
Every human is fallible.
Are you sure you’re talking about Christianity? You sound confused.
Not a single Apostle or early church father believed what you have to believe to be a Roman Catholic today. You need to read some church history and learn instead of listening and spouting this “2,000 years never changing” schtick.
@codywormy6920 my church has a pope, as did the early church, where's your pope?
Way to strawman Matt Walsh.
How did he strawman?

@laurentiudll of course the Bible was inspired by the Holy Ghost.
The rest of what you wrote I don't agree with.
In what way is the Word of God an idol to Apologia? The idea is that the Word of God is the only ultimate authority, not that it is an object of worship. Jesus is the object of worship.
@@Rhology The same way the letter of the law became an idol to the Pharisees
