    I was a very masculine lesbian for 25 years. I had a really bad ptsd panic attack. The whole side of my body went numb and I thought I was having a stroke. At that moment I prayed to God saying that I would find out if He was real. A couple of weeks go by and I'm watching videos getting the strength to actually go to church. So, finally in Aug 2018, my girlfriend and I went to church. We were welcomed but, not in the world view. We were welcomed with unconditional love. At the end of the sermon, I asked the pastor if we would be accepted here. He said "it doesn't matter if we don't agree because many people disagree on all sorts of topics. However, you will be shown unconditional live here and that is it." I gave my heart to Jesus then.
    6 months later I had a day dream like revelation and when I came to, my heart was changed from a lesbian to a straight woman trying to figure out what that meant. It was a difficult thing to get my head around. I put my trust and faith into Jesus to lead me the right way. 8 months after, I was baptized. 4 months later, I started dating my boyfriend to now. 6 months later, he told me that he has made his mind up that he is going to marry me. We will be getting engaged soon and then starting pre-marital counseling with our pastor. God is good. Just make sure that when dealing with someone from the LGBT community that you show them love. They are lost and hurt.

      @He Calls the Stars by Name Why are you worried about my name, Hoss? I am calling myself Yeshua ben Pantera because it was an insult aimed at My Lord by Celsus and the Talmud. Hopefully people read all about Christ and they understand Jesus was legitimate and that history is full of people who discount the Christ. In their insults I find the case for Christ strengthed. I wear their insults because Christ wore worse for me.
      Like when the 'rap devil' dissed the 'rap god' we get a 'Killshot' and a 'Not Alike' and we all can see how good the 'rap god' really is and that he is called that for a reason. As above, so below, if you understand the analogy.
      Also to most people I witness to the band Pantera is badass and the insult of Celsus and the Talmud is a great way to witness about Christ to the metal fans.
      Pardon my chuckle too but back to you. You ask about my name while citing The Name (HaShem); were you looking to wrestle with me?

    • @MessianicJewJitsu
      @MessianicJewJitsu 3 года назад +1

      @He Calls the Stars by Name So we're clear, with no debates. It seems like blasphemy to you, that's okay I'm not offended by your charge and understand your curiosity, and I am not thinking his name was truly Yeshua ben Pantera and I'm not using it to promote Him as anything less than The Christ, it is what I call myself as a teaching device, like you using the name Psalm 147:4 (you aren't the Psalm), to start conversations using extra-biblical and religious sources to get them interested in the Bible. As many people ask for references to Christ outside of the scriptures or they ask about my name in general and it gives me an opportunity to tell them how I was called to Christ through Pantera the way some were called through fishing. What Celcus gave to diss Christ is being used to teach about Christ, the way a battle rapper flips a diss and uses it show the truth. You may not understand and would rather write it off as blasphemy to feel better, you could also be right and would just rather focus on my comings and goings than your own, which is cool with me too.

They told Judas to kiss Jesus so they would know who Jesus was. (Mark 14:44) the scripture also said they plucked Jesus beard out. (He had a beard) My thoughts on these few our of many scriptures........ Paul used he Jewish background to lead others to Christ ( he was relevant to his time) even though his past religion was counted as nothing compared to knowing Christ. He used what was relevant for the time to win people to Christ. Then about Jesus....... in the versus above they would know who Jesus was by Judas giving him a kiss..... so..... Jesus looked like everyone else and wasn’t wearing a suit and tie...... he dressed like every at the time or they could just look out a see him stand out in the crowd. the religious people that wanted to arrest him needed him to be recognized because He looked like everyone else. So my guess is that you are Pentecostal? When you see this pastor on the firing line witnessing to unbelievers and being screamed at because he love unborn children I wonder what your church is doing? Please give us a update.... everyone would like to know how your church is winning souls for God. The reason why we are in the mess we are today is because the church has stayed in it’s 4 walls and are spiritually fat but are not fulfilling the great commission. Not only that but people think that somehow people are going to be drawn to people that can’t relate to them because most churches are still living in the 70’s and don’t care to learn about what people are going through in 2021. Last..... Gods Holy Word will never changed and should never be compromised it’s the power unto salvation. but times and real needs do change through the decades and unless we learn about the current culture we will be useless and see very few come to Christ. Jesus and Paul fit right in with the crowds yet kept their testimony clean. Let’s get about the Fathers business and plant seed and see Salvation. Gods still on the move and touching people. we just need to get moving with Him.

      @@duanehankins7077 So there was nothing mentioned about a "beard" anywhere in my post.. As well, Jesus and his disciples were wearing TRADITIONAL DRESS when Judas kissed him on the cheek. Neither he or his disciples stood out by being dressed in a manner that reflects disrespect or immorality. You just proved my point by using Judas' kiss as an example.. This so-called pastor's dress DOES stand out as you can see in the comment section. It's reflective of worldly rebellion. As well, he thrives on self attention.. He shows no humility and responds with anger, threats and name calling when confronted by authorities that God put in their relative positions. This is evident in many of his videos. I hope you will answer me back on my question I’m going to ask. Does your church do outreach to your community? And how many people have you witness to and gave them a message of salvation too in the last year? If you have witnessed more than 5 times this year your way ahead of 95% of Christians according to statistics. Jesus ate with publicans and sinners without compromising Gods Word. Paul and Jesus were hard on people occasionally. When Paul was whipped he told them he was a Roman citizen and he made the leaders come down to let him out of jail..... Paul could of not said anything but did. Sometimes it’s ok to make a point. Paul called Peter out for separating himself from the gentiles in a hash way, Jesus shook up Nicodemus by say hard things to him, Jesus overturned the tables because the religious people made his fathers house a den of thieves. I could go on.. but I won’t. I will say I would rather have a flawed man give the good news and stand for truth than to have a suit and tie man that does very little. I have seen good videos of this man witnessing to cults and angry people and he keeps his cool and sometimes calling people out in love even though hard is the best thing one could do. I love the theology and apologetic argumentation. I love that you want to stand up for truth and not just let the church treat every issue as if it were a conscience issue that is relative to their personal convictions. I agree with your overarching argument and concern.
    I am really bummed out that you used the language you did and wish there was more of a sense of calling pastors and church members who are on the wrong side of these issues to repentance and reconciliation in love and gentleness rather than feeing like this is promoting a fight and superiority.
    I’m not saying don’t offend people. I think it is good when people are offended. But when they are offended by the truth of God’s word, not by our words and actions. I wanted to share this video and I may still with certain people, but I think that you gave people a valid reason to be offended at YOU, and not at God’s word, by your presentation. I love what you are doing and stand with you on the issues, but how we say things does matter and we can be bold and shocking without being unnecessarily offensive. It tainted what was otherwise a great sermon/lecture.
    “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you,
    yet with gentleness and reverence;
    and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.”

      You missed it then. Paul said the equivalent to this in Phil 4:8. Rubbish is the Greek word skubalon. Paul was using the slang word of the day which if accurately translated would be "shit". Jeff accurately describes the teaching of the woke church as skubalon or "bull shit". Jeff, in fact, is being quite accurate in bringing an admonishment against the so called "church" and there destructive teachings.
      Also, Israel is constantly called a slut or whore by God through His prophets... Jeff violated nothing here either.

    • @alreyindustries
      @alreyindustries 3 года назад +6

      Todd Cote even if Jeff didn’t break any “rules” in doing what he did, which even with your argument I still don’t think he is off the hook, it is still profoundly unwise and uncharitable to do it in the setting and manner that he did. I think the responses to this video by fellow Christians, whether you deem them wise or informed of the Bible or not, shows that this was offensive (perhaps sinful) behavior.
      “we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.”
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭NASB‬‬
      This is taken a bit out of context but the principle stands. Jeff i believe is correct in his knowledge but misses the mark in a loving application.
      “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
      ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NASB‬‬
      Philippians 4:8 doesn’t use a derogatory word for dung. In fact, I’d say someone could argue pretty well from this verse that one shouldn’t use a derogatory word for dung.
      I’m sure you were referring to Philippians 3:8, but even their Paul is talking about his own works. Paul is not attacking the teaching or works of fellow pastors and elders who are on the wrong side of an issue and publicly shaming them to thousands of people in a crowd and on the internet across the world. Big difference and I think it is dangerous to imply what Jeff did is what Jesus or the apostles would do or did.

      I'm sorry, but you may very well be in the evangellyfish camp and attend a church is as well. You've picked a few verses to support your case (which I'd agree is proper. It's seems like you take the bible seriously), but you would do well to pick the harder verses that Jeff used, to explain how he's mistaken. Meaning, use Mat 23 or Mat 21:12. This is also proper Christ like behavior, right? Sometimes our zeal for the Lord eats us up and we chase the false trachers out with a cord of whips.
      What about Paul? Are you forgetting what he also did and taught? He publicly chastised Peter, he called the Galatians FOOLS, and used strong harsh sarcasm, to wish the trouble maker would cut himself off from the church (Gal 5:12) ALL scripture is God breathed and profitable to rebuke and correct....2 Tim 3:16. There are many passages of scripture that are very cutting to "believers", nevermind to the world.
      I could go on with many more examples from all the apostles, where they used hard, cutting language to destroy falsehoods IN the church.
      I see Jeff doing the same thing as the Apostles did and in the same way. Do you not see the detestable world around you? Do you not see how angry God was with His people for offering their babies to Molech? Has not America done much worse? Have you not read that judgment starts with the house of God? Do you think the church has done a good job of being a light to the world? Are not you and I part of the problem? The gospel, the power of God unto salvation, has been soo watered down. "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life" was never taught by Jesus or any of His disciples.
      "GOD DOES NOT LOVE THE WORLD!" Rather, He lovED the world. It was a one time act and demonstration of love. Otherwise you make God a liar by the end of the very same chapter. ,But he who does not believe, the WRATH of God REMAINS upon them. God only loveS those who believe in Him and follow His commandments. That is from the lips of Christ Himself. So why does the church preach a different message? Why was I taught a different message all my life?

    • @alreyindustries
      @alreyindustries 3 года назад +2

      Todd Cote I appreciate your response. I think part of the problem is we don’t know each other or how exactly we are thinking about the people this sermon is addressed to.
      I totally understand and agree with your concerns. I’m a member of a reformed Presbyterian church that holds to the Westminster standards. I hate a false watered down Gospel and want to fight with you against false Gospels in the church.
      My main issue is that there are true, Christ redeemed Christians who are, I believe, wrong on how they are addressing these issues, but are not calling abortion or homosexuality right or good, but I too believe they need to be rebuked and corrected in what their teaching is actually promoting.
      However, no matter how heinous and sinful it is that the result of their bad teaching is more death and destruction in the world, they are not teaching a false gospel. I have people like Tim Keller and David Platt in mind.
      I don’t want to treat true Christians like apostates but at the same time I know not everyone who is teaching falsely on these issues are true Christians. I guess that’s why this sermon was confusing and offensive. Perhaps he could have been more specific on who he was addressing. Maybe I am misinterpreting him.
      With that said, yes I believe our zeal for God should consume us, but no I don’t see how it would be appropriate for one of us to go somewhere and throw tables around like Christ did in the Temple. That was literally the house of God, the church is now the temple of God but it does not belong to us it belongs to Christ and only He has authority to cleanse it so I don’t see how we could equate that with using the language Jeff did here. And when Jesus and Paul are rebuking people in Matthew 23 and in Galatians it is because the truth of the Gospel is at stake. So when you say that rebuking false teachers of the gospel may require strong rebukes, I agree, but I guess the question is, is that what Jeff is rebuking here?
      And maybe we just won’t agree on this, but my interpretation of Jeff’s attitude and language here was not in line with Christ and Paul. Strong stances and rebukes: YES! Foul language and provocative name calling: NO! What did Jeff do here? To me it was the latter, even though I agree with his and your position on the issues.

    Some may not agree with Pastor Durbin's word choices, but he pulls NO PUNCHES in defense of Biblical truth. Many of us have grown weary of mealy-mouthed, so-called proclaimers of the gospel in pulpits cowering to the bullies of the day, and this is salve to our souls, encouragement toward our own boldness to speak truth in a world that loves lies! God's Word is so clear on many things that can be seen once the veil has been removed - as only God can do - from one's eyes. My prayer is that some of those who refuse this truth will be drawn to the Father through His Son, and turn away from the sin of lukewarmness and, in some cases, flat out suppression.

      Why should we consider the Bible's claims true though? For key, foundation claims like "god exists" or "Jesus resurrected", there's no evidence outside the Bible claiming these things are true. So when we admit that evidence is our only reliable way of knowing truth, and evidence doesn't indicate a god exists, doesn't that mean we shouldn't believe in god?

    I’ve followed Pastor Jeff for quite sometime. This message was a much needed approach to our current American cultural circumstance. I have learned a great deal from Apologia and have grown and been edified in different ways.
    However, the inappropriate language, multiple reference to whoring positioning, and comparison to marijuana that Jeff espoused from the pulpit, was embarrassing and shameful.
    Jeff has a way with words and is well studied... but he missed today. He certainly could have expressed his righteous anger from the pulpit differently.
    It’s ok if anyone disagrees, however I stand here, a laborer of Christ and call Jeff Durbin to rethink his inappropriateness.

    • @danbrown586
      @danbrown586 3 года назад +3

      If the Bible is the word of God, we must accept that God told Ezekiel to call Israel a whore. If that's the case, we can't say out of hand that it's wrong to make that comparison to others, and on this, I think Jeff's comparison is quite apt. He has not, of course, received special divine revelation telling him to speak these specific words, and as a Calvinist (and therefore a cessationist) I'm sure he'd agree. But he is calling out the putative people of God for forsaking God, his word, and his law, in favor of the popular culture--i.e., doing precisely what Ezekiel was doing. And he's using almost identical language to what Ezekiel used. There may be room to discuss whether this phrasing was wise given the audience (which seemed to include a good number of kids of middle-school age or younger), but I can't see any way to come to the conclusion that it was wrong.
      What's wrong with the comparison to MJ? In that case, many states have chosen to defy the federal government and "legalize" something that's illegal under federal law. Jeff's saying (and this is based only on my having just watched this message, not any kind of inside knowledge--I don't know him, haven't met him, and only know what I've seen of him on RUclips) that if states can do it for MJ, but won't do it for abortion, that says a lot about their priorities. What's wrong with that comparison?
      On the use of the word BS, I'm conflicted there myself, and this message being captioned as a "sermon" doesn't help me conclude that it was appropriate.

    One man will NEVER force another man to see his position on spiritual matters by way of attack or aggressive "saving." Such beliefs are what created the Inquisitors, and a host of other ungoldy acts and tortures proclaimed by men against other men in the Name of God.
    So there's that. Our Job is to WALK. Like Jesus WALKED.
    We must start with ourselves. Getting bent out of shape by others and claiming you need to save them is just an good excuse to not to Walk it your own self.
    But I appreciate what you're doing. You're standing up for your beliefs on abortion. I salute you for that. YES. Thank you for standing up.

I understand your intent and purpose, and you might accuse me of being cowardly or unfaithful, but I could not use such language in the pulpit. I certainly want to convey the idea behind the word, and even allow the definition to shock some people, but surely that can be done while avoiding profanity? @servantsofchristministries7789 3 года назад +9

      @@joeyouyang Couple of problems: first, Jeff said we should act and speak like prophets. Then he curses. The prophets did not curse. They were inspired by the Spirit of God and He would never curse. Furthermore, Jeff, nor you and I, are prophets. The scriptures do not command us to act or speak like prophets; we are commanded to act and speak like Christ.
      Second, in making his wake up call, he put parents in a difficult position. Children now having heard the term, now have an excuse from their Pastor to go and use such profanity; "That is how the prophets spoke."
      Third, the New Testament clearly prohibits cursing and foul language. Paul explicitly said as much in Ephesians 4:29. Not only was it incorrect to claim that Paul cursed, it is contrary to what Paul actually said.
      I believe Jeff Durbin is a faithful pastor and brother in Christ. I just don't see any justification from Scripture for that kind of language, especially from a pastor in the pulpit before God's people.

      @@rationalevidence9095 I am not the king of RUclips. As far as I am concerned, anyone may comment that so desires.
      "The prophets swore quite often and Jesus did too! " -- First, the example you gave is not a curse word. "brood of vipers" was not considered profanity at the time, nor now). It might be worse than call them a dog but it is not a curse word. They had legitimate curse words. Peter began to curse when he was confronted by the bystanders at Jesus's trial (Matthew 26:74). Even the term skubalon, which Jeff referenced, was not a curse word. It's English equivalent would be excrement.
      I take from your comment, since you are saying Jesus cursed, that you believe cursing is not a sin? If so, why did Jeff say the Lord saved him out of it? Why did Durbin say that he is not advocating for cursing?
      "Our children need to learn that harsh language has a particular place - not every place, but a particular one." -- Can I teach my children this without them hearing my foul speech? Should I be able to go hear a Christian pastor speak and not have to worry if my child will learn new curse words?
      "...don't say things that don't help the situation." -- I am not referring to Durbin being rude; he was not rude in the speech/sermon (other than his use of the one word). I am referring to his use of the expletive which describes bull dung. How did that help his sermon? More people are talking about his use of that profane word than the content of his message. That is not the fault of the listener... that is the fault of the preacher.
