    Another gun that is horribly underrated and mostly unknown. Been rocking one for years. It's a very nice piece and compares well against a P226. It is literally half the cost of a Legion and can be modded slightly.

I just bought the Compact version of my Arex Rex that I have been carrying Aiwb. I’ve never had any problems with my Arex. I ve got over 5,000 Rds though my Full Size without any malfunctions. Picked up my Arex zero 1Tt full size last month and love it. I carry it daily everywhere. I hear a ton of complaints about the trigger but I love DA/SA and once you get some time in with the pistol the trigger pull is smooth and does not feel near as heavy as it measures. Picked mine up on sale at a huge discount for only 425! Grips are not my favorite so replacing them with G10 lok grips and I believe I will upgrade to flat trigger. I believe this gun would be a great value at normal price of 700 to 750.

    For a carry holster, check out the PHLster Floodlight. You need a Surefire X300 or a Streamlight TLR-1 (depending on the model of holster you choose) but it will work with almost any gun with the proper light on it so you don't have to hunt down holsters for rare/obscure pistols. The Floodlight is also legitimately the best-concealing holster I've ever used.

    I bought a Arex Zero1 Tactical after seeing a couple factory tour vids a while back (Forgotten Weapons, TFB.) I don't really put any value in MAC's videos as he is a bit of a clickbait boomeresque ding-dong. I think 90% of his "gun issues" content is fabricated for the clicks. I have been shooting firearms for 30+ years and never had even a fraction of the "new gun issues" that dildo has had. I strolled into one of my local gun stores to buy a Sig365 .380 and they had the Arex sitting there - so I bought it as well. I think it was a couple years ago or more. I currently have over 2500 rounds through it and it has been great. It was a nice addition to the "full size all metal" part of my collection. It turned out to be one of the "instantly accurate" pistols that fits my hand size/body geometry very well. At first it had a very "service pistol" feel to it (which makes sense, as that is what it is) but as the round count gets higher it gets smoother. My DA trigger wasn't horrible and the SA trigger felt just a shade heavier than the most recent base Beretta 92x I picked up. I did change the grips out to something thinner and more aggressive. I see people complain about "high bore axis" like it really matters, and laugh. I have found that attribute to make zero difference in speed/accuracy if you actually shoot the guns. Those complaining must be the one box of ammo through it ever six months kind of shooters, or wannabe Jerry Ms. As been the case for decades - proper technique and actually using the pistols makes it a non issue. If you are looking for a all metal, full size 9mm handgun that won't ever seem to fail and don't want the common flavors - I recommend picking one up.

    The RXP version of the p229/226 do have co-witness irons (sadly in a three white dot set up) that work pretty well. This pistol seems fairly similar to the 229, albeit substantially cheaper than the sig version with the red dot cut. I’m not sure how useful a manual safety is for a double/single gun, but from the review I’d guess the main advantage of paying for the 229 or 226 over this would be the trigger. For the discount over the sig, though, this is probably worth checking out.

      I question the validity of those gauntlet tests, they aren't consistent much less scientific and do not prove anything you could depend on IRL. If you drop any pistol into a wet mud hole there is a chance it will or won't work, best to assume it won't and act accordingly. I can't imagine any professional, including myself, picking a pistol because of the results in the "gauntlet" it's entertainment at best. There is no reason other than chance an ARex copy of the Sig 226 would be expected to perform better.

      @theangrymarmot8336 Год назад +3

      Bore axis isn't the big thing the internet makes it out to be. Technique and actual shooting makes it a non-issue. Also, if you don't like the 92s grip - look into the something like a 92x, they have the "vertex" grip which is a little different. Between the two though - the 92x and my Zero1 Tactical, I will say the Beretta is the much more practical (parts availability, accessories, etc) and is the "slicker" better feeling to manipulate handgun. Accuracy I can't tell a difference. I would only recommend the Arex over the 92x if you just want something a bit different, rarer, and (IMO) cooler. From a practical home/self defense perspective - go with the 92.

      Lol, you do realize that the whole "high bore axis" thing isn't as big of a deal is the internet makes it out to be right? If you actually shoot the pistols enough, with good technique it isn't perceivable. I shoot a ton of "low/mid/high" bore axis handguns and the speed/accuracy difference isn't noticeable in both casual and comp/training shooting - and the same is true of 99% of shooters.

      Shooters good enough to actually use the small difference bore axis makes don't care enough about it to chose their pistols because of that factor, so many other important features.

      Your bore axis issue really isn't there on this gun. The recoil on it is actually quite nice. It doesn't flip hard and is quite manageable. Don't knock it until you try it. And if you need to know, I run CZ's, Sig's, Beretta's and all kind of other guns. This Arex 1 is quite pleasant to shoot.

      @@badengrishSi But "bore axis" is the new trendy crap to talk about on RUclips and Reddit the last year or so. Whenever I hear anyone talking about bore axis in regards to normal pistols - that pretty much tells me they don't shoot much. Anyone with half decent technique that shoots regularly doesn't care about it. Unless you are a high-level competitive speed shooter (which 99% of people aren't) bore axis means diddly squat. Nothing you will watch or read will help you shoot better if you don't actually get out there and get some trigger time. I run into it all the time at the range - people who shoot once/twice/thrice a year but think they are the offspring of Jerry M and John Wick because they watch someone on the 'tube. Reality usually sets in quick, and they leave out of frustration which only hurts their skill level. 30+ years of shooting has taught me that things like bore axis, grip angle, weight, etc of nearly all the "normal" handguns makes zero difference in ability with it, and it is all in repetition, technique, and practice.

    I almost bought one years ago as my first pistol glad I didn't I dont think a sa/da gun would have been good for me.

      Probably true, a striker fired pistol will allow you to improve a lot faster because you don’t have to worry about the trigger pull as much. Plus once you get more experience with striker fired pistols you’ll have better fundamentals and mastering the double action pull will be easier
