**Third** I had something in the video that I took out of the final cut late last night since it was a little on the personal side. In that clip, I talked about the family that runs Arex, in particular, Ivan and his son, Grega. These dudes are two of the friendliest and most honest people I have met in this industry (Ivan is the bald guy doing the toast at the end of the video, Grega is the one who tells me to stop working and have some lunch at around 11:32). That means a lot to me, to know that the people behind the company are standup individuals. And speaking from a technical perspective, Ivan is straight up ballin out of control 24/7. I took out a clip I had where Ivan set up a road block in front of his house where all of his guests had to take a shot of schnapps and a slice of homemade Slovenian bread to get past the "checkpoint." The. Man. I have a ton of stories about these guys over the week. It probably doesn't matter that much to you guys, but it's important for me to know the people behind a company. Anyways, I am glad their guns kick ass, because I would have been heartbroken to have to make this video and tell you that the Rex was shit or something. Fortunately, the guns are just as good as the people making them.
TFB TV I love my Arex its my duty gun I wS going to get the mark 25 but I watched Military Arms Channels torture test and it beat the P226 legion so I went with it don't regret it one bit
TFB TV thanks for sharing a little bit about the owners. I have always found that good peeps make good companies, at least from costumer service if not the whole thing. As the only "negative" I've heard is a heavy trigger about these guns, I might buy a compact one instead of a CZ ( always seem hard for me to find when I've been looking to buy) in a few years. Just don't tell my Sig's as they are collecting "protection" rounds/$ from the rest of my collection.
TFB TV It is good to know that there is genuinely good people behind the company, it probably means more to folks than you may release. I've wanted one of their blasters for a while, going to get one at some point... When I'm done with my CZ binge... Thank you
When you're in Czechia, do yourself a favor and don't call them Eastern Europeans. They will get very... twitchy. Czechians would consider themselves to be Central Europeans. I got my ass chewed out by a Polish about two weeks ago when I referred to that country and Belarus as Eastern European. In my defense, I was half-right; Belarus is universally considered to be Eastern European. I guess the general rule of thumb is, if they use the Cyrillic alphabet, it's Eastern European (although Romania would probably be the exception to that rule).
This was the second consecutive trip I have been on where I received an email beforehand saying that I had to wear pants in the official facilities. :(
@brotherisrael8368 especially now with the P300-series. I've never regretted a pistol purchase in my life, until I bought a Sig 365X. Holy Hell, what a piece of shit. And I've owned Taurus pistols 😒
I have honestly never heard of this company until yesterday, when I had a guy come to my gunsmith shop and wanted a Winchester pump 20 ga ranger but didn't have the cash asked if I took trades then laid a box out had 3 mags 16 rnd each and a AREX 1s 9x19 I'm in love with this thing now, tried a bunch of different ammo through it from junkie FMJ target crap to my favorite black butterfly and gold dot which absolutely ran perfectly and produced 1/2" groups at 30 yards awesome gun
I have the Rex Zero 1 S and also own a Sig P320 AXG Classic. Aside from the $700 price difference....I wouldn't hesitate one second to use the 1 S in lieu of the AXG. Don't get me wrong, I love the Sig. It's a very nice looking handgun that performs well. Like others have mentioned, though.....this video shows that you don't have to pay that extra 75-100% in price to get the same quality. Arex doesn't try to keep coming up with different ways to capture micro segments in the market. They do what they do....and they do it very well.
Great video! I always knew Arex had hit upon something special and now I know why. The attitudes and individuals at that company are top notch. The care and pride put into each gun are obvious. Can't wait to pick one up!
I really appreciate seeing this. I didn't know anything about the people behind the gun. It shines a light on some who are clearly passionate about their product and guns in general.
This is 100% how I felt about making this. I had no idea about them and wrote them off. I tried to make the video in a way where if I had viewed it myself a couple of months ago, it would have caused me to think twice.
This is great! I love different channels getting to know each other and support each other. Good for the whole gun world. I especially like to see the different nationalities mix....shows we are all pretty much the same.
Owning bothm you can feel where that extra money is going into engineeringwise with a Sig, it's smoother, not at many bullshit parts in it, fit and finish, but is it worth 500 more for a gun that goes boom? Eh, not really. I own both, and I honestly like my Arex in some areas and my Sig in some areas. If you want a Sig but don't wanna pay, get that Arex. If you already have a Sig? Don't bother.
James you lucky SOB! What a damn dream of a day. I love the Polenar team so much. Thanks for this vid and your work. I'm eager to buy my Rex Compact next year.
I have the Arex Xero 1 and Zero 2. Both are great shooting pistols, and the Zero 2 is #1 in my conceal carry rotation. Nice triggers, very accurate, and the magazines are swapable
champy1210 A continent where male skinny jeans, banana hammocks on the beaches of Ibiza and Caanes are considered acceptable fashion has no right to judge James' silkies.
James again showing off his muscles with fitted shirt. I'm not complaining given so many gun writers gets huffing-puffing on mic after minimal exertions.
Do you know if we can pay for a tour of the factory as a random civilian? I own an Arex and I love it and would love to visit the factory sometime as well
That'd be awesome but I doubt it. Many of the areas we were not allowed to bring cameras into because of the classified nature of the military work they do in the same factory. - James
i've visited the beretta factory in italy as a civilian but you need to contact them, i was in contact with someone inside and he get me with some investors to visit it. I had to sign some documents where i say that i'm not able to take photos and things like that
I love SIG. I own a P226, a P320, and a P365. But I really want one of these Rex Zeros. Especially after watching this video now. I’m a sucker for aluminum alloy frames.
The arex will easily outshoot any pistol you got. Bad part is practice is required to get used to the super heavy trigger and massive oversized fat grip
OH NO, toasting with your favorite rasberry beer?!?!? 😂🤣😃😄 Really though James, great vid. Cool range in the lush countryside and great hosts for the gun enthusiasts. That compact for EDC is now on my radar. 👍👍
It's surprisingly more mechanically accurate than the cz75 too and doesn't have the firing pin and trigger return spring fragility weakness. And a better ejection part. Bad part is the arex is so freaking fat and the trigger reach is very difficult
"Show me your boobs"!! LOL James-Did you really say that?? MAC says you did! Enjoyed your video and wish that the pistols sell well.. Great video. I really have the bug to pick up the Rex compact. No one around me carries one for me to get a feel in my hand. A gun shop owner I talked with about these said the grip on the Rex is "beefier" than a Sig 229. Do you have an opinion on this?? I have kinda big palms and shorter fingers so I want to be suer I can work the controls without changing my grip.
I literally just started looking at these as I was ordering my CZP01. I always wanted to see 226 or 229 and I'm looking at a alloy frame Carry on. CZ75 model is #1 on the list and then a Sig!?! Good morning hear about this done and noticing this video is 5 years old I realize it can only have gotten better or I hope it has. I have a feeling I'm going to have 1 before I have the justification for a 229Or 226
Im Sooo late to this vid , 2022 , but I enjoyed it. Lol let’s just say I’m doing a little research to see what else is out there. Other than the usual we normally know in the states. 😅. Great vid!
Question: im about 5'11" and 185 soaking wet. i know im buying a rex, but from your experience, could i carry the fullsize concealed and not print like crazy? ive got kinda big hands.
That's a tough call...I bet you could get the compact and be fine - but if not, they make really nice grip adapters to use the fullsize mags and give you more grip.
I know you can get the competition spring set already for the Rex Zero 1. Does the Alpha trigger just come with the springs or have they done more to the Alpha?
I own both a P229 Elite and Rex Zero Compact FDE. Both are similar guns in size and capacity, but there are two major differences, in my opinion. The trigger is heavier and not as smooth as the SRT trigger in both DA and SA. Secondly, the grip is feels thicker than the P229 and has a slightly longer trigger reach. This gun is not for small hands. I have a question for you, James. Would you know the average amount of rounds each gun goes through in testing?
Each and every one? From what I saw, somewhere between 25 and 50 rounds for slow fire, rapid fire, and several 35% overcharged rounds. They pick one gun from each lot and subject it to 30,000 cycles to QC the lots. I thought the QC was impressive.
How had you not shot one yet? They were at SHOT 2016! An evolution and refinement of the IB Inat which was an evolution and refinement of the Zastava CZ99/CZ999/EZ9 family which was an inexpensive Sig Clone with improvements.
I did a short piece on the Arex back in 2016 and no one seemed to care. As a Zastava fan I was excited to see someone take their improvements, add more to it, and machine it finely. I wonder how IB Inat feels about it though.
It pisses me off that I found out about these pistols literally 2 days after I bought my most recent pistol. I got a Girsan Regard (a very well made beretta 92fs clone). I don't regret getting it, it's great, but I wish I had got the Rex Zero 1 first.
Feels like these small companies in foreign countries provide a better product along with better customer service and not shit in on top of the little guy like big gun companies do. Arex rex zero 1 👍 yes 💯

You really like the compacts.
Easily one of the best guns I’ve owned and NOT all triggers are created equal, single action supposedly is 6lbs but it really feels more like a 4lb trigger.
It's a very heavy trigger but has an excellent crisp break so the sear and hammer are very very well fitted.
I'm no expert, however of the pistols I've fired, the Rex is my favorite. It is a little sketchy control wise but very accurate and easy to shoot.
Next factory invite for James will be from a famous manufacturer of short shorts and feature an intimate and explicit video tour.

Had to stop the vid at 1:11 to screenshot those grips. They really pop on the black finish.
Wow 30,000 dry fires. The cz75 can't even handle 10,000 dry fires before the trigger spring or firing pin needs to be replaced.
The slingshot method never fails.

I own both a P229 Elite and Rex Zero Compact FDE. Both are similar guns in size and capacity, but there are two major differences, in my opinion.

Feels like these small companies in foreign countries provide a better product along with better customer service and not shit in on top of the little guy like big gun companies do. Arex rex zero 1 👍 yes 💯
JAMES: You should not even draw a paycheck for this vid...! You obviously had an excellent time with your new Slovanian friends; especially your fellow Slovanian RUclips drinking buddies. They are awesome, too...! What a job (see "vacation")...!
I am also a huge SigArms fan (especially the Elite series). What is their position on the Apex "Sig Knockoffs"...?
Yeah Ed, it was incredible. If Sig wants to invite me to their factory and show me what processes they are using nowadays, I'll document that too. - James
