Someone may have mentioned this, but Military Arms Channel did a torture test with these two guns, and it was quite a test, sand, mud etc. The Arex never missed a beat. Totally blew the Sig away. The Sig had to be taken apart a few times, cleaned and put back together to keep going. The Rex 01 did not. That sealed the deal for me. Love my Rex 01 tc.
Zero has a decocking/slide stop combo because it is derived from Zastava p99. Zero is actually a heavily modified and modernizerd Zastava P99. P99 is much more true copy of 226, than Zero is. Complicated, I know.
That’s right!!!! Thank you!! I have the Zastava on my wish list of guns but man I’ve never seen one anyplace I’ve looked. Thank you for watching by the way!
@@TheArkansasGunGuy P99 is not a very good gun in many aspects. You are not missing out. Zero is much much better. But, I am a Slovenian, so I might be biased😂
Not P99, but the Zastava CZ99/CZ999/EZ9 line of pistols. I read somewhere one of the engineers who helped found Arex previously worked at Zastava (but that may not be true), hence the similarity.
On my Sig P226/MK25 I put the SRT kit and short trigger, and also put the Sig X-Ray 3 night sights. Love my P220 and my MK25. There is no real after market support for the ARex.
@@leodoingthings1706 To me, it's the trigger and it's lighter than the 1. Of course, the grips are great. Even if it's not designed for a red dot or laser sight, it's an amazing pistol.
Great video, as I was watching I looked on Gun Broker. I never knew the Arex existed as a 226 clone. It is only about 500 for the regular version. The 226 has been a bucket list gun for me. May look closer to the Arex for the price and will scratch the itch for now.
Best detailed review on this two. But I find a detail missing: a comparison of the length of pull on DA and SA. These have fat grips and trigger reach may cause accuracy problems for some shooters. Thank you.
Thank YOU so much for watching!!! I’ll try to remember to get my trigger gauge out and shoot you a note. In general the Arex trigger is a little lighter - at least that’s how it feels to me!!
Sorry I missed this earlier. Barrels do not appear to be interchangeable. Similar size and shape but not exact. Tried in each and could not fully reassemble (didn’t try to force the fit)
@@TheArkansasGunGuy I appreciate it! I was curious as I have a few extra P226 barrels and was wondering if i could get away with just purchasing a standard Arex Zero 1 as opposed to the tactical.
It's a pity that the Importer(s) listed on the gun seem not to be interested in supporting the ZERO 1 any longer. I was looking for the competition spring set and had to buy it in Slovenia. Frankly the recoil / hammer spring are way to hard to operate in my opinion. Also, after market grips have only one supplier (Hogue) and the cost for two little "grip cheeks" is 70 dollars. So that is the bad. Now for the good, it's an awesome gun, it shoots very well, recoil is more than acceptable, I like the full metal frame. It feels like that too.
Is your importer listed as Fime or Global Ordnance? I’ve had a lot of good interactions with GO. They took over importing Arex from the Fime Group a year or two ago…. Thank you for watching by the way!!!
I hate the stupid grip slipes that cover the decocker and double action spring. The hump is way too sloped. They should have just made it a flat thumb rest shelf.
So I have the competitions spring and the recoil set installed. It completely transforms the shooting experience. I also replaced the grip insets with the skinniest version I could find. That really took care of the "hump" feel for me. My recoil spring is 16 lbs. Trigger is now is less than 4 lbs in SA. .Soo much easier to rack to slide
I'm waiting to get my 226 back from a FFL that went out of business. Atf took everything from the store and they gave all the guns to a gun broker. So I don't know how much BS I HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO GET IT AND MY HELLCAT 9MM BACK. BEEN MONTHS. I wish my sig was optic ready because I'm hooked on green and red dots
@@TheArkansasGunGuy thanks , it seems like it's been years. I already paid for 2 supposed too . 2 years ago and I've talked with atf and they told me that the stamps were sent out which was over 2 years now
Hi, I enjoy watching your videos. I like da/sa carriers. I have a p239 that I like, but looking for more capacity. I have check out your video on the p30sk. Do you have any other ideas for da/sa sub compacts with 10 or capacity capabilities? One last question does the p226 in this video have the short reset trigger system.
Thank you SO much for watching and for the kind words!!! The Sig in the video is bone stock - no short reset trigger. I like my P30SK - but another hammer fired gun I’m going to check out is the CZP07. I LOVE the inverted rail system and have read great things about those guns. I usually carry a 365XL just because it’s so darn easy (and THIN) but really prefer hammer fired. I also carry a CZ75 D (PCR) quite often. Not really SUB compact (nor os the P07 now that I think about it)but it’s a sweet shooter. THANK YOU AGAIN!!
Evolution for sure. Only problem is no aftermarket popularity and that the arex frame is too wide and could have the pic rail cut down some more. Also annoying that the mag sticks out by 3 mm and will overinsert and hit the ejector if you slam it
Great question….just sent to safe to see… Turns out they are NOT interchangeable. Thanks for asking (and for watching!). This could be a good idea for upcoming videos!!
True, we must ask ourselves; in the event of an apocalypse and you had to select between the Arex and 226. Which one would you select? For me it would be my MK25 all day and twice on Sunday. Still, Arex is a very good firearm but Sigs are legendary.
Yall need to watch the Military Arms Channel when Mac does the Torture Test between This exact Arex you have here and a Sig Legion 226. LOL the Sig Was a JOKE. It could Barely get through a mag LOL. The Arex was Flawless and still the Best Pistol to ever go through his Torture test and he has tested a lot. That’s why I bought the Exact one the Arex Rex Zero 1s FDE. I have over 9000 Rds though it and have never ever ever had any issues with it. No FTE FTF Stove pipes Anything. THE SIGS ARE A JOKE 😂😂😂😂 NOTHING BUT A JOKE😂😂😂😂

Zastava actually isn't a copy of the 226 because the sig and walther p88 were developed right at the same time too
Zastava came out in 1988
1200+ rounds through mine. Not a single problem and shoots great!!
Excellent to hear!!!
LOVE having a 1911 style safety plus da/sa.

I have the Aero 1 and Zero 2. Both are great shooting pistols
Quickly became a big fan of Arex. Their Alpha may be one of the best guns made!! Thank you for watching!
whats the upgrade in 2nd?

Mil Arms ran 1,000 rounds through the AREX Zero 1 in something like 14 minutes without failures of any type. Very impressive.

It’s a very well made fun that shoots incredibly well. They have some pretty high tech machinery there in Slovenia!!

Nice grips on your Arex. I have the same. Houge??
Think they are Hogue - they came on it one year I think (I bought gun used). Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks I just dropped my vids on Amazing Zero 2s....I'd like a Tactical Optics ready though
I’ll go check them out and subscribe. Thank you for watching my videos!!
There a reason it's always compared to the P226 and not the P229? I thought it was supposed to be more like a P229 to shoot (and dimensionally).
I think Arex makes both sizes - comparable to the 226 and 229. Thank you for watching!!
