    I like that fact that you have always tried to build new stars that could replace the old ones and it's sad that that desire was always met by unforeseen events or a 40 year old trying to maintain his spot, so to speak.

    Even though Hogan is my favorite of all time, the man could not run a company. I wasn't a huge TNA fan, but I know it was a bad decision to go to the standard 4-sided ring. Bringing back the Nasty Boys wasn't the best business decision either.

      That’s true, but neither could Russo, Cornette, or Dixie. The only two who really managed to run a company and hit the ultimate heights were Bischoff and McMahon. Bischoff for a year and a half and McMahon on and off for decades.

    Russo is FAR more responsible for Attitudes success than Bischoff is responsible for WCWs success from 96-98. Bischoff just spent Billionaire Teds MONAYYYYY. Kevin Sullivan was the head booker

    • @josecarlosramolete6109
      @josecarlosramolete6109 Год назад +13

      That's true and those are facts.
      At least, Russo gave wrestlers development in terms of characters and storylines whereas Bischoff was only a "one-trick pony" who didn't realize something was broken with his WCW from 96-98: viewers started getting "fed up" by this NWO thing.
      Also, the reason WCW declined in the late 90s because Bischoff didn't give his full support on Ted Turner's WCW Thunder show.
      Speaking of billionaire, yes, Bischoff had a notorious reputation of being a ROGUE executive. after doing some homework about Eric Bischoff's antics, Russo was sarcastically right about Bischoff 'getting a relaxation' on strip club joints because Bischoff DID spend a lot of money in stripper clubs than promoting and producing the show.

      Funny bc Russo had to go through Vince while bischoff WAS the final word. Both Sullivan and Bischoff say the NWO - the key to wcw’s greatest success was Bischoff’s child. Sullivan also gives Eric great credit for WCW’s rise. But you dullards don’t let Sullivan’s words get in your way! Just keep screaming about billionaire Ted. The real truth is that both Russo and Bischoff had success and failures and both deserve credit and jeers.

    So Russo gets a lot of flak for the waning days of WCW. However, he was their for the height of TNA. It was Eric who killed TNA. Kind of Eric who killed WCW as well. Also, Dixie should have at least paid attention to what happened to WCW before WCW'in TNA.

    • @josecarlosramolete6109
      @josecarlosramolete6109 Год назад +1

      I wouldn't say Eric Bischoff killed WCW but yes, Bisch led the DOWNFALL of WCW by spoiling Mick Foley's title win (through Tony Schiavone).
      I cannot judge Bisch (and don't get me wrong, I don't like Bischoff either!) As the one who killed TNA but I will say this to you, Eric Bischoff's greatest mistake is to make TNA look like WCW again and get "revenge" on WWE.
      So, I cannot say Bisch killed TNA but he ALSO led to the downfall of TNA along with Hogan.

      Yes. You are right actually. The AOL merger did KILL WCW.
      Bischoff led the downfall of WCW because he didn't realize something was broken in WCW: fans started to get "fed up" with the NWO storyline and Bisch was indeed a one-trick pony. On the other hand, Russo tried to salvage WCW (that's why he didn't regret leaving WWF/WWE) but WCW went downward spiral already (and remember, Ted Turner started abandoning WCW that time).

    The timeline is a tad wonky about the Jarrett being champion and youth movement aspect. It’s spot on that AJ got the belt a few months before hogan came in and post hogan they started throwing it on former WWE and older guys (RVD, Jeff Hardy, Mr Anderson, Sting). But the claim that they needed to do it because Jeff had been champ for a long time doesn’t jive with this timeline. Jarrett gets tons of flack for always being the TNA champion, and at the beginning of the company that was true. And when he explained the reason behind it to Conrad it honestly made a lot of sense (he said he had himself as a main guy because they didn’t have the financial resources to sign other main guys long term so he put himself in that position knowing that at least he could count on himself always being there for the first little while). But the Jarrett always made himself champ narrative in the timeline of TNA as a whole isn’t accurate. From 2002 until May 2007 when TNA and NWA ended their agreement for that world title Jarrett was champ 6 times and held it for 965 days, or a little over 2.5 years of time over that nearly five year time period. So for awhile the narrative about him and being TNAs world champion was accurate. But what gets lost in that narrative is that he never held the actual TNA branded world championship. For a guy who was always the champion it doesn’t line up that he never once held the belt that bore his company’s name. By that time they had Kurt Angle and it bounced among him, Sting, AJ, etc but never went to Jarrett. In fact his last title win was in June 2006 and he lost it to Sting in October 2006. So he went 8 years before he resigned from TNA without winning another world title. By this timeline it had been about three years since he’d last been champion. As for the AJ thing I guess it’s possible but it seems odd to me. By this title reign in September 2009 AJ had already been NWA World champ in TNA three times and this was his fourth reign as the world champion, although first with the actual TNA branded title. Again I’m sure it’s possible he had some issue with AJ winning it at that time as they had bigger names to hold it like Kurt Angle or Sting who had been largely holding it for the time period it had been branded the TNA title but it seems odd that he would take issue with it when considering he’d already had AJ as the champion of the company three times before this. Even more odd to think he wasn’t ready considering they’d had him win it first in 2003 and hold it for over 130 days when he had much less experience in the wrestling business (I think he started around 1999). So I guess it just seems odd to think that when he had 6 years less experience that he’d be behind him as champion but at a time where he had a lot more experience that he’d suddenly have an issue about him being ready for it or not. Sure in comparison to people like Angle or Sting AJ was “the youth” but it’s not like he was a fresh chicken. By this time AJ had around a decade in the business, 7 years in TNA, and was 32 years old. Hardly an inexperienced guy to put the belt on at that time.

    Its easy to blame Hulk Hogan but the reality is he was simply using the power that Dixie handed to him on a silver platter. If it was part of his contract then he had every right to exercise creative control because why wouldn't he? If I got hired to work a job and my boss gave me executive level authority anyone with a brain would do everything they can to take full advantage of that.
