  • Vince Russo calls out Triple H for a statement he made today stating that Russo knew how to start a story, but not end one, citing the Stephanie McMahon and Test wedding angle from almost 20 years ago. Hunter claims an idea from a House Show at the UK Rebellion pay-per-view came from Vince---when Vince didn't write it, wasn't there and was actually meeting with WCW at the time. One of the most hysterical things I've seen people accuse Russo of was "making Judy Bagwell a WCW World Tag Team Champion" when that was even a lot earlier (circa 1998) than when Russo went to WCW which was in '99.

    • @Wglass90
      @Wglass90 6 лет назад +2

      Dan S
      Yeah. That happened on the RAW following No Way Out (2000) in Madison Square Garden I believe, and by that time Russo was under contract by WCW. He wasn't writing television anymore since he was temporarily sent home in January and replaced with a returning Kevin Sullivan, but nonetheless still employed.

      I think that's why these stories come about because there's a deceased party who isn't here to speak for themselves when Russo said about test standing Steph up at the altar and turning him heel I actually believe him because about a year later they did an angle over who called the cops on hunter? and test came out explaining how he was meant to get money and fame from marrying Stephanie but instead Triple H got it

    It's become 'cool' to bash Russo on the internet and Triple H has jumped on the bandwagon to get over with marks even more. When will Triple H be called out for his FAILURE to create any new stars from the Performance Center?? The PC clearly doesn't do a good job building characters. Meanwhile he fills NXT with indie darlings to deceive marks. He sells these guys and girls dreams and delusions of grandeur. Reality then hits many of them on the main roster as they can't get over, and Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn have different priorities.

    I'm willing to bet my life's savings that Triple H doesnt give a retraction on this. And the reason I'm so confident is because I personally believe Triple H knew all along that Russo wasn't responsible for that story line, but wanted to publicly bury Russo to the masses knowing that they'd believe it. The more WWE tried to bury Russos name the more you realize how much of an asset Russo was to the company. They are bitter ego maniacs and it's disgusting how they treat people, especially former employees who helped make them what they are. Unfortunately their egos will be their downfall, as the product today is unwatchable. I feel awful that I even support this garbage company by being a network subscriber, but they should thank Russo for that because without the Attitude Era, I along with many others wouldn't even have the network at all. Truly a miserable business.

    Here's my opinion Vince. Im a huge fan of your podcast. I listen alot. I grew up watching wrestling in the 80's. I still enjoy it, although it is a former shell of itself. I agree with you on the present day. Here is what my opinion is. You are always commenting on how great the Attitude Era was, which I agree it was. Youre always comparing todays product to the late 90s and here is why you cant. When you worked in the WWE attitude era, not only were you allowed to do more entertaining angles with sex and blood etc...but alot of times what youre failing to either admit, or acknowledge that the talent back then compared to todays talent is apples and oranges. You cannot compare the two eras. Back then, it was like an All star game full of prime time talent. This is the main reason why it was so good. If you had mid carders in the attitude era, it wouldn't have been as good. How many times in wrestling history can you say you had The Rock, Austin, HHH, Angle, Mankind, HBK, Undertaker ALL AT THE SAME TIME IN THE PRIME OF THEIR CAREERS? NEVER. Todays product, I agree is sad. But alot of it is because they dont have 1/10th the talent. That is a big reason that I hope is understood. The talent back then was off the charts. Plain and simple.

    • @rampageclover9788

    They did air clips of the Steph amnesia stuff in the US, but it was extremely random and didn't go anywhere. I never understood why they did it.
    Bulldog didn't get a hot program out of it as a heel, it didn't do anything for Test as a face, and there was no payoff too it. If I recall, on one episode of Raw or SD, they just did a bit where Steph's memory came back and they went along as if it had never happened.

    I'm actually in the September '99 portion (while Russo was still there) of my Attitude era marathon, and judging from the Test & Stephanie McMahon segments it's definitely consistent with Russos story of Test being an eventual heel standing Stephanie up at the altar, which I might add would've been ten times better than Triple H being incorporated in it. In the segment, you can see Test showing heel like actions and it being hinted such as being disinterested when Stephanie is looking for a wedding dress. I also watched the Rebellion show on the network, but they didn't even mention the segment with the Bulldog and the trash can on RAW the following Monday. It's getting ridiculous at this point that WWE is continuously trying to slander Russo's reputation, especially now since more fans are starting to open their eyes more clearer to the facts and come to Russo's defense and acknowledge his points on things.

      People can have different opinions. Russo needs to understand that there are people who didn't see things the way he did. Why is it always the other guy who's lying or has a failed memory. He only wrote for WWE for what 2 years. I wish he would stop knocking people for telling their truth. Especially since he goes on tirades when people question his.

      @Phil, come on man! That’s unfair. Just because you don’t like him, it doesn’t mean you can say whatever nonsense. You should know if there was no Triple H in attitude era, and if there was no heel like Triple H in attitude era, Austin and Rock would have never had popular feuds and good matches from 1999 to 2001. Be real and fair. Whether you like it or not, Triple H was a very good heel at least from 1999-2001. Admit it.

    • @fillycheesefl
      @fillycheesefl Год назад

      @@arsalankhan8751 nah you're wrong. He sucked, great behind the scenes. But would've never gotten past mid card status if he wasn't the owner's son in law. And to say Austin and Rock wouldn't have had their popularity without him is an awful take.
