    The Garmin doesn’t always display all added waypoints in the street view. Sometimes it does. If I switch from street view to topo and back then it shows them. I use mine every night for places to park a b-double.

      Sorry I missed this comment Keith, sometimes waypoints don’t show depending on how far out you are zoomed in map mode.

    hey mate just watched you video and if you are in drive or offroad mode you can hold the hema icon for a few seconds and it bring up a small screen and you can go between on and offroad alot faster and easier and you can also leave n road going while your in offroad mode hope that helps

      Hi Marc, thanks for watching and your kind words, I actually nicked the shade off my hema explorer before I sold it. You can get the shades from ARB and hema direct and some BCF stores used to stock them but not sure now

    Overall you have done a good verses comparison video....But you spent to much time with on-road navigation. I would of liked to see more of the off-road navigation please, specially the difference in the hema maps overlays between HX-1 and Overlander.
    My biggest question is are the newer hema premium maps available on the Overlander?

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad

      Hi Josh thanks for watching, there is so much to cover on the OVERLANDER and a lot I have covered in videos since here. ruclips.net/p/PLNleyqdJ14f9jb4YJmD8x4s-gzTzoA4v0 , there are also tonnes more videos upcoming on the OVERLANDER so stay tuned

    Unfortunately you can’t store waypoint names for display on the Garmin. Only by touching the waypoint itself. Not sure about the HX1. My old Hn5i could do it.

    I recently purchased the Garmin Overlander and I really like this unit, however I have a few problems with mine, but could also be the operator.
    Firstly, the voice command hardly even registers my voice, out of 10 attempts it would of worked 3 times which is pretty disappointing.
    My maps overlay is completely different to yours as well. I don’t have the birdseye option in my map layout and my options are completely different to yours?
    I have found your videos to be really good but I’ve struggled to find ANY decent step by step guide on basic operations and settings on RUclips which again is pretty disappointing!
    Do you have any suggestions where I can learn more about the device or are you willing to give an Overlander for dummies review?
    I’ve watched your videos/reviews and you give really great feedback to I’m hoping I can learn something from you if possible!? 🙏🏻

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  2 года назад +1

      thanks very much for your comments, one thing I did find is that you really need to make sure you use a particular tone of voice with the overlander, when we program these things we tend to use a different tone to our normal speaking voice and the unit picks up on that tone.
      On The maps overlay it may be the country you are in? I am in Australia
      I'll look into doing an overlander for dummies video that's a great idea!

      Hi Michael. The Garmin is great with it, I have a new vid in the works on ‘tracks’ coming in a little while, but suffice it to say it’s dead easy. Much easier on the Garmin than Hema

    My experience with hema is its turn by turn is dangerous, lack of information. Second it’s very difficult to use, you have to be tech savvy. On bush trips terrible. I took it back for a refund. My opinion it’s a terrible unit.

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  2 года назад +1

      Agreed zook, I had the same experience. The Garmin is so much better off-road and the turn by turn for on road is so much better than the Hema. Hema does have its great points though, like the maps, which are used on all Garmin units. Hema should have stuck with maps though and not branched out to GPS units. I have a mate who worked there for years who gave me the rundown on things there, the hardware on the Hema is so old also

      Clearly I am comparing the exact same activity side by side to show how both units work doing the same thing. I explained that for My Use completing everyday navigation the Garmin suited me better. Different units will be preferred by different people for different reasons and there will always be fans of one unit for one reason or another. I tried to be non biased by doing these direct comparisons. Thanks for watching
