My vascular Dr ordered a pair of leg garments and pump by Airos. I was shocked that Medicare and my other insurance paid more than $10,000.00. Shocking! I asked how it’s different from those on Amazon and they just assured me this was the product I needed. I’m still thinking 10K is far to much to pay.
This machine really works. I had swelling real bad with the fluid. I had lipossession down on the side on my knee. So I had a lot of fluid but, but the pump really works. I could even wear my shoe. Now I can and i'm telling you everyone it really works
If you have swelling you need to be taking 4,700mg of Potassium as long as it doesn’t interfere with any medications. Helps my swelling so so much in addition to these other techniques
Great timing 😉 just received my leg compression pump... have just tried it for the first time but I was completely unsure about the benefits. Can’t wait to watch this video.
18 months ago, on advice from my lymphedema therapist, I bought a Tactile, which has the Velcro closures and a complicated hookup system. I’ve used it twice, and I had to pay for it myself to the tune of $5,000. I’m SO angry about the whole thing. I’m a paraplegic and just can’t the get crazy things on and set up, so there it sits, collecting dust. I had NO idea there were other machines out there that would be much easier for me to use. Ideally, the zip up with an app would be the route to go. I’ve tried searching online on my own but have had little success finding anything. Would you be kind enough to do a video covering the different brands and capabilities? That would be soooo helpful!
I have this type pump (Tactile) and it started failing less than a year later, for example an air chamber ruptured and none of the Velcro sticks… so I’ve remedied that by putting a weighted blanket on top. I’d rather have a zip closure because I do need help with leg closures even with relatively good mobility.
This is a good video explaining the compression pump. I would love to get one, but some of them are over $1,000. I don't know what Medicare would pay for so I just go once a month for an MLD with a local person, which isn't ideal. I know it's not the focus of your channel, but if you could interview someone who knows about costs and what insurance might and might not pay for, it would be helpful.
What is your professional opinion about pneumatic pump such as one I have from Tactile Medical which instead of inflating as this one does, it slowly moves up the leg in a rotational manner. Which do you feel is more effective? Thank you for all your great videos and information. You are my go to for lymphedema knowledge😊
Love your videos/help. I just got the lake pumps myself via MediCal. It feels so good however can I do it more than an hour at one time? Or how many times a day can I do it?
Thanks for the great tips. Could you tell me if one brand of pump is more effective than another for legs? If so, can you list them? Wondering mostly about the Entre Plus vs the FLEXITOUCH Plus pumps. Thank you
Hi!! I have a question. I have lymphodema in both legs and trunk area. I have a compression suit that is from my waist to my toes. I am supposed to use it daily. I have compression pants and socks that are supposed to go over the thigh. Even with all this, and therapists, I feel as though all the fluid is collecting in my upper thighs and my lower abdomen. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks so much.
How can I contact you for getting help from you? I am suffering for years together due to lymphedema from head to toe. I feel that you are the person who knows more about lymphedema. Please let me know your contact information. Hope you will help me to get relief from my sufferings Thank you
Besides lymphedema, I have peripheral motor and sensory neuropathy which makes my skin super sensitive to pumping. After completing lymphedema PT at a lymphedema specialty center, I was sent home with a leg pump (like the one used at the center). After a few weeks of home use, I ended up with foot/ankle abrasions, sores, and blood vessel breakage. No matter how many reductions I make to pressure and time on the pump, per doc and PT suggestions, and no matter what I do to protect my foot and ankle (wearing socks, cotton bandages, pads, etc.), skin pain/damage continues. Anyone out there have suggestions for effective barrier I can use on my sensitive foot and ankle to minimize injury and still continue pump use? Thanks for any input. Nancy M.
That's terrible that you're getting skin pain and damage. I was going to suggest a stockinette, but if you have used socks, I would thing it's the same thing as far as using a garment to protect your skin. I don't think the person who produces these videos looks at all the comments very often. I hope you find some relief soon.
I have heart failure so I'm swollen everywhere but it's especially my legs and my ankles and my ankles. Is there a pump that you could recommend on Amazon? My insurance wouldn't approve one. For me
this is our experience My hubby needed to use one these, so did like doctor instructed to use every day on him after over a month, all sudden my hubby got urine tract infection he never had one before, our reg., doctor order antibiotic, cleared it up so, we continued for him use again, sure, enough within 2 weeks he then started getting blood in his urine visible like cranberry juice color had urine test done contacted our doctor stop use the equipment and his urine cleared up all we can say we don't recommend you decide

Not when it comes to your health and longevity of life.

Coulda got very similar from Costco for $250 😖🤔 The medical facilities charge exorbitant rates and Insurance companies pay.
@@brad2548 good to know but i don’t have a membership 😞
I use Airos and my insurance has paid for it for over 4 years. Medicare

I’m sorry that all happened to you. Yes, I can look at going through the types. There are a variety of options out there
@@CancerRehabPT that would be wonderful if you could! Looking forward to it.

That’s a great idea! Medicare does cover many, but it’s a process. So I’ll look at resources to share

Medicare has always covered the cost of my equipment. I have Airos Compression full leg boots.

Is the Airos 6 or 8 better?
My Airos 8 compression leg garment zipper came off on one side of the track. Any suggestions to fix this at home?

You would need to get clearance from your dr before using a pump with heart issues
I wore my first one out got lucky and found a one on ebay just like my old ones
Good day madam!
Is it okay to make lymphatic massage to a pregnant woman (5months)?hoping your reply 😊🙏
It is useful or not sci patients
My machine is not deflating why
not all kinds of pumps deflate. only certain brands and products. So if it's supposed to, but not, then I would call the place you received it from!
where can i get the pump
You can get a prescription for a pump from a doctor or lymphedema therapist. I’ve seen some online but I don’t know if those are good for lymphedema.
Suzanne is spot on! For the medical-grade and a safe, effective pump it’s best to work with a lymphedema therapist and/or your doctor
