  • I love my MYOMASTER compression boots but wanted to test them to see if the benefits were all in my head 🤣
Reading half marathon and legs day in the gym with only a single leg getting treatment was the experiment!

I recently received the Normatec compression boots. My legs haven't felt this good in a long time and I'm near the end of a marathon training cycle. Even if they don't help me actually get faster they make me feel a lot better. Try some if you can. Then sell your plasma or whatever you have to do to pay for a set. :)

Great experiment! What a content to sacrifice one leg. May be include quantitative scale of how you feel? For example, scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most sore in your entire life. Just to see the difference between the two sides if it's significant. And of course, it can be multiple variables, soreness, likelihood to train/rest, stiffness/morning stiffness, range of motion, etc.

The best way to test these without more participants would be repeated measurements, alternating legs. So use on a random leg after each workout (with good breaks between to return to baseline) and record relative discomfort (eg 0-3 scale) each time

I bought the boots myself and the effect on recovery is similar with a hot bath. Even the sensation that you get at the end, when boot are decompressing is the same as the water drained and you feel your legs easy.
It will not address hot spots, PVC pipe still remains the best for that.
Recovery boots are especially good before bed, at night, and not after the workout. Studies show that any recovery aid just after the workout hinder the performance gain.

Great video as always and love the humour and attempt to test the boots “without bias”, but - and I hate to be that guy - even testing the boots on one leg and the other does not rule out placebo effect at all, which is why proper scientific experiments are conducted “double blind” whereas you (obviously) knew which leg you had used the boot on. I discuss this in my TRT videos - it's a bit complicated. Testosterone is on the banned list so if you are elite you need an exemption BEFORE you compete. If you are not elite you CAN compete BUT if tested you get the the chance to apply for an exemption retrospectively. In reality, people low down the rank are not getting tested. Can you imagine them pulling the guy in 10,000th place at the London Marathon and busting him over his medicinal use of a hormone? So basically, for me mucking about way down the field, I'm fine. If you think about it, over 7000 people ran Reading half marathon and hundreds of them beat me. Statistically, forget TRT - some of them would have been high on coke and some would have been bank robbers. 😂

So you actually suffer sometimes :o), that makes me feel better because I sometimes think I'm just getting too old for all this exercise at 68 LOL It would be interesting to test the boots out on my drive home from my trail hikes because I feel OK when I start driving home but can hardly walk 40 minutes later when I get out of the car but you obviously cannot drive with them on.

Get a massage chair instead. Because what about your back? What about your shoulders? What about your neck? somebody else can recommend a good one.
