When Mists of Pandaria expansion came out (2012?) I was waiting for my collectors edition to arrive per mail. It was 2-3 days late, so I missed the expansion on day one. However, battle pets were introduced to the base-game and I got inmediately hooked. Those 3 days while everyone else was exploring Pandaria, I was out collecting anf battling and leveling all sorts of pets. I LOVE it!!! Did you know it's the project of just 1 dev?
I have always heard that it was one Dev, but never found documentation. Battle Pets are a unique and rare feature most mmos and modern gaming doesn't offer. Glad you had a great launch with mists!! I love hearing that story.
This video is too good. Seriously, it’s a love letter to battle pets. I came looking for a guide because I do not “end game” grind, and fell in love with your passion. I am looking forward to expanding my BP collection now too!

Wow, great video. I stumbled on your channel when I was looking for some refreshers on Battle Pets. I've been playing wow on and off since WotLK, but did Battle Pets pretty hard in MoP and Legion. Haven't done much with it since then, but wanted to get back into it. Great video man, and looking forward to digging more into your content on this as I start diving back into pet battles more.

Glad you're enjoying yourself in WoW - it always makes me smile seeing people's joy in the game. :) Incidentally, your background in Monster Taming/Battling games (my favorite game genre aside from WoW) is similar to my own, too, which was a nice surprise to see! I'm a long-time player of WoW (since early 2005) and have been a casual pet battler and collector for some time - my main content to pursue is typically hardcore Raiding or M+ Dungeons, but I do always find myself coming back to the Pet Collecting/Battling side of WoW quite often. I definitely feel people underappreciate Pet Battles! Your eloquent breakdown of the depth Pet Battles explains exactly why I love them and come back to them - as a standalone battle system it is quite fun, but alongside an entire RPG with cool people to interact with and tons of stuff to explore, collect, and do? It's too good! Anyway, all this to say I really enjoyed your enthusiasm in your video and was glad to have came across someone who feels similarly to me. :) Hope you continue enjoying your time with WoW and Pet Battles in the future!

You can also level alts using Pet battles - especially during the special XP events. Powerleveling battle pets near Halfhill can be very fast for both pets and alts. I got several characters maxed pre-Dragonflight just using the Battle Pet system.

This is literally me, I played Pogo and got bored and have played WoW off and on since release. Got into Dragonflight and did some Mytic dungeon crawling at 70 once that got stale I looked into the pets. I have to admit I was thinking it was just knock-off Pokémon but it's honestly what keeps me subscribed now as well.
How do you go about finding info on pets? Is there a good resource to learn what pets to target in 10.2? I had no idea about the rare colored bunny but how do you even find this exists? Would like a video to better understand the battle pet lifestyle. Things like addons for targeting pets and just what to look out for while our world questing
@@tylerdaniel6428 there will be one, but it will most likely come out in the "second raid" time of the expansion. The achievement for collection was datamined waaaay back on DF launch. But it's probably being held until more people can get to ((2k pets owned.))
@@FlipMethodi just found the post on it. 2k is currently impossible to hit. Theres only like... 1900 pets when you include the tww pets? So theyd have to add another 100 pets to be able to even get to 2000 pets. Idk.
Have you heard of our lord and master, Palworld? It’s SO good! It has everything I love about survival games and automation, with the breeding and theorycrafting of Pokemon!
I never liked being so far behind so when I started during panda land. I went in on pets. It was new so I wanted to play the same time as everyone else. My goal is to own all pets lvl 25 x3 lol I’m at 1628 unique pets 1854 duplicate pets 3141 maxed to lvl 25… Now crappiest part of this was 4 years ago the max amount of pets you could hold was 1500 lol so I had to erase all my doubles and triples of npc pets. So now I had to go back and recage all of them. But that’s how I level. I level by pet battling.. welcome to the game and to the pet world My name is badcredit on emerald dream I have over 3k of pets I also sell too so I might have some you need lol Amazing video ❤
4:00 all the points you make in favor of wow battle pets are correct... but seems like you're forgetting that now you pay a 12$ monthly subscription fee, unlike in previous games (pokemon) were you paid once for the game and nothing else
In the sequential "main" series ther are 23 games currently. Each costing Approx 60$. If spread across a monthly cost like it were a subscription from thier first release to thier current one. It would have cost you approx 6 dollars each month to maintain playing the exact same game, over and over with updated graphics. I don't really see your argument.

I would love for Wow to spin off pet battles to their own platform. that is something I would pay for.
I think of more people were more vocal about that, blizz might put in the leg work.
I'd want even more minigames like this within world of warcraft, hell even a hearthstone version inside the game.
I'd love to see the ability to use your in game collection on a mobile device Pet Battle system.

I quit WoW at the beginning of Shadowlands and just came back. My battle pets were the only thing tempting me back during that absence.
