I don't think these engines sound bad but they sound out of place in a pickup truck. Like most newer trucks with anything except for a V8. Older 6 cylinders sounded more gurgly and deep compared to these newer high strung 6 cylinders
You need equal length exhausts into either an X-pipe or a single merge to get a V6 to sound good.
That’s why V6 trucks typically sound bad. The the exhaust coming from the driver’s side cylinder bank is longer than the the passenger side, since it has to cross over to the passenger side of the vehicle to clear the fuel tank. The unequal exhaust lengths gives it that raspy/farty sound.
Lol 😂 Sounds exactly like a 4 cylinder Honda Civic
Lmao 💀
I think it sounds worse! 😂
If you close your eyes, this is 100% accurate
You just insulted every Honda Civic ever made lol
Yeah sounds like the Ecoboost too
Sounds like shit "That's perfect!"
Lmao
We beat Ryan. Lol
Oh hell no it's way too quite sounds like a stock ford ranger should have just ran open manifolds. For better 0to 60 time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That truck sound like it's got a chest cold.💯😅😂
I like the sound of the Magnapack better. I can identify with the owner and the cab sound. I have a Flowmaster Flow Fx exhaust on my 2016 Colorado with the V6. It sounds great running around; however, you tow a trailer and do highway speeds where the truck is running 2.5k RPM and the drone can definitely wear on you. I like the louder exhaust for running around. Although I never towed with the factory or quieter exhaust, I think I would like a quieter exhaust for towing.
They sound near identical to me. It’s hard to get good sound out of a V6. V8’s reign supreme in the exhaust sound department.
I always think that the Colorado and canyon are the same but the lights all of them
My boi really said STOCK/DIFFERENT/STOCK
God the 3.6 sounds like some generic ass video game V6. I was contemplating getting one of these, but that buzz and rev hang make me question myself.
I have a 2016 Colorado with the V6. Not a bad truck. If you are thinking about getting one and changing the exhaust, there are quite a few options with some different sound/tone qualities. I put the Flowmaster Flow Fx system on my truck. Too me it sounds good running around.
The magnapack wasn’t too loud, just sounded like a Honda Civic.
14 in body for the win
Sounds great underload. otherwise kind of lame in park with that rev limiter.
I hit a large turkey on my way home from work In my Colorado. If only I had made it sound like toy airplane like this guy it would have had a better chance
We're is Ryan the oh hell no guy like he didn't comment on the video with the challenger hellcat which is strange
The Magnapack had a tin can sound , where the 14 inch was more subtle.
They both win because it alomst sounds the same but with different exhaust setup's
Nice truck but that resonator needs to go and a slightly bigger tip put on, then it wouldn't sound like a restaurant full of guys after 4 bean burritos
The issue is at 65-70 mph with a load on the engine in high gear. It’s louder inside than out. 2-3k rpm UNDER LOAD (like a small hill or small trailer) will create a noticeable drone inside. Around town it’s fine but I’ve put two different mufflers back to stock again (turbo tube and oval MF)-both sounded ok outside but NOT inside during a long trip. I didn’t take factory resonator off in either case. Just beware guys-on a long drive the noise might start to bother you.
Agreed. I have a 2016 Colorado V6 with a Flowmaster Fx exhaust. Sounds great running around. Hook one of my trailers up and drive on the highway and you definitely get a drone inside with that engine running a constant 2-3K RPM as mentioned. After a recent trip to Florida pulling our small squaredrop trailer, I have been considering changing out the exhaust due to the constant drone. Just haven't decided what to change it to (if anything). Don't want to change and not make it any better or make it worse. Is this your truck?
@@garretlewis4103 not my truck sir however I recently had a 24” body magnaflow style (generic house muffler) installed and removed the resonator. So far I am very happy with it. Starting cold sounds barely noticeable and it’s very mellow under half throttle type acceleration. Gentle throttle in traffic is quiet. I made a few brief videos inside but I’ve yet to try any outside clips as they are all deceiving through headphones. Full throttle I can hear it inside but it’s pleasant to me. Deeper without being too “brappy”. I have a cold start/brief rev posted and will upload one of the inside. Simulated a load by feathering the brake.
I'd like to see what open manifolds guy has to say about this.
sound like a robot farting
Colorado duramax needs a vid!!!!!!!!!
3 catalytic converters a flex pipe (a muffler) and a resonator 💨
But why does a vehicle need 3 converters? Or wth is a flex pipe?
Nothing really makes those engines sound GOOD, but the regular Magnaflow had a much better tone to my ears. I bet that muffler without the resonator, secondary converter, or both would sound almost good.
They both have a similar tone except the 14" muffler has a little less volume. He should have did his research before forking out the money for loudest muffler a particular brand has. Louder don't always means better.
I think borla xr1 or borla s type clean up nice. but man much rather have that those old gm 4.3 l are the best sounding v6s ever. its the only one I'd work on
Every video of any muffler swap here on YT the common question is, "hows the interior drone" not to mention most muffelr companies have sound clips. Depends on where he bought them, if they were new from a place like Summit, Amazon or were they Facebook Marketplace? Some people don't even know what they really want so they go to a Muffler shop and say, I want this or they go out and buy what their buddy said would be good. Or they can't make up their minds and end up back where they started but feel like they made a "change" Took me two years to decide. I already knew what I wanted but I did extra research anyways. Knowledge is power.
@@boratwilson9916 The 4.3L is the V6 you want if you are looking for one with a great sound. The Ford 3.0L Vulcan V6 comes in a close second. Especially if you build them right. I can honestly say I owned the best sounding one before it was totaled.
@@NXT_LVL Exactly. When I started working on cars back in the late 80's I'd listen to cars similar to mine and asked people who had exhausts I like what they are running and I want from there. Never go into something blind and clueless. We have the net. Places like RUclips with millions of videos to listen to. Not to mention forums and exhaust companies that would answer questions about drone, rasp, and volume. Things I never had when I first started. It is a lot easier to be informed on stuff like this before you spend your money.
@@selfmadeauto2142 Hello troll. I noticed you made a comment and mentioned me but no one paid attention to it. Sit back and take notes. Adults with automobiles are talking. Maybe you can make the right decisions when it comes to exhaust if you ever get a car or truck of your own. 🌈👬
I'd be finding me a different exhaust set up, don't like either one of those
It is a V6 and can be difficult to get a decent sound/tone. I put the Flowmaster Fx exhaust on my 2016 Colorado V6. It sounds good running around. But, it will definitely drone when you are towing and the engine RPMs are a constant 2-3K RPM.
The longer the deeper and less raspy
When press the gas sound just like this
Magnapack... the Mennn.. the Mennn .. the Mennn
14 Magnaflow ... Pxxsy ... Pxxsy ... Pxxsy
U should told him , sorry son ,,We don't tone down , We loud up
If my ZR2 with the "Overland" series sounded like that I would burn it to the ground!
I didn't think it sounded that bad. What exhaust system are you running on your ZR2?
@@garretlewis4103 Magnaflow "Overland series"
@@madcratebuilder I saw that exhaust system. How is the drone with that system? I have a Flowmaster Flow Fx exhaust on my 2016 Z71 V6 Colorado. It sounds pretty good running around; however, when I tow and am running down the interstate with the truck's RPM at 2-3k, the drone can be pretty rough. Started thinking about different exhaust options after a recent trip to Florida pulling our square drop camper.
@@garretlewis4103 The Overland system has three different sound levels depending on what pipe/resonator you use. I have zero drone with the U pipe and resonator.
@@garretlewis4103 The Overland system is tunable sound wise. I run the U pipe and resonator....no drone with a deep tone, close to the Super 50 I replaced.
Sounds like a 6 banger could be a Honda if you couldn't see it.
Yeap, all newer V6s have that similar sound no matter who makes them.
Need to remove resonator and 14” will be perfect
Maybe. Depends what the owner is looking for and doing with his truck. I have the Flowmaster Flow Fx exhaust on my V6 Colorado. Sounds great running around; however, the drone can be rough when you are towing a trailer and the engine is running 2-3k RPM at highway speeds. It would be interesting to hear the 14" without the resonator. It probably does sound decent.
@@garretlewis4103 replace the factory resonator with a ultra quiet resonator from vibrant. That’ll dampen the drone some.
Sounds like a bumblebee
Normal magnaflow 👍🏾
This should affect your credit score
Sounds like a riding mower
These stupid bots are everywhere they need to take links out except for the poster
The owner said it was too loud? Where?!
Maybe he is towing with the truck and getting a bunch of interior drone. I have the Flowmaster Flow Fx exhaust on my V6 Colorado and the drone can be rough when you are towing and the engine is running 2-3k RPM at highway speed.
Sounds like a v6 camaro
Yeap, same engine.
That's a big no for me...both sound like little race cars from a highschooler.
Sound like a Ford transit😂
MENGA MINT!!!!
FART 💨 Awful, just awful..
Oh man the v6 engines just don't sound right.
They just sound like V6s, not V8s.
Take the resonator off
Very BMW/Audi..ish.
Sounds horrible. For some reason it sounds better in the Camaro.
Both are not loud lol
Sounds like muffled honda ....
New engines sound so dull and gutless
Sounds stock
I am sure the resonator had something to do with the more stock sound. I have a 2016 Colorado V6 and the complete stock exhaust is really quiet.
First
That's weak
😂😂😂💔💔💔💔
Complete waste of money. Sounds awful.
👎
Sounds like 💩!!!!!
