3:12 I would also add that there’s a difference between dragging the selection box from left to right and from right to left (as in other CAD programs). The former selects all objects that at least partially fit in the box while the latter selects only those objects that fully fit in the box.

This series should be ranked way higher.Introducing me to the 'mirror' and 'copy objects from other sketch' feature saved me so much time in my last project. Thank you.

Your tutorial videos are so good. If I had any kind of critique or suggestion to offer it's that I think you reveal too much information too quickly without giving the student a chance to really solidify it. This used to happen a lot to me in Math class. The teacher would open up with the lesson and I'd be feeling pretty confident, then right as I felt like we were gonna start practicing the lesson the teacher would just go on and teach a bunch more advanced concepts that build upon the first lesson. Then I'd just kind of feel overwhelmed and lost a bit. I'm not sure if you intend for your tutorials to cram so much information in before a practical lesson starts or not, perhaps there is just no simple way to tip toe into CAD, but those are my thoughts and I wanted to share them in hopes that they either give you something to consider or re-affirm your current methods.
    Cheers and thank you.

Your tutorials are superb. You take no knowledge for granted, and never detour from the concept. It's at a quick pace (which I like), but easy to follow along with in the program as long as you pause the video when needed. The way you have indexed the tools in the description will make this a reference I can come back to as I use some of the more confusing tools. But you have all the lightbulbs gong off at once and I feel like I can be fully creative in this tool.

Good stuff. Had no idea about the polyline thing and pressing M, saves a lot of time. And one of the things that turned my off of freecad at first was its handling of referencing external geometry. Most CAD programs I used just did it, no questions asked, so I was super confused when there was 3 separate tools that I thought all did the same thing. This video clearly explained what they do and the differences between them!

One thing you might wish to do (at least for current versions of FreeCAD) is mention early on the 'Topological Naming' Problem. You are showing some great features when using faces as references, but doing so can trip you up in weird and wonderful ways later on if the name of the specific feature that is referenced, changes. I'm sure you are aware of it, and hopefully it will be fixed in future, but might be worth putting a caveat in your first video when you show using a face as a plane for a sketch.
Overall though, another great video, well done.

YOU ARE AN ANGEL !!!! i had heard of freecad as an alternative to fusion and their licensing change... but i was stuck in the tutoriels and applied them without really understanding a lot of concept. you made it simpler, faster, and easier for me. thank you very much... as i am not ready now to use it as i used fusion, I can now see the end of the tunnel, and may be one day, as i was doing it in ... POVRAY (yes i am trying 3D since ages) i will be abble to script some modelling with the python command (it wasnt python at the time, but i use python for my work, so I zm quite fluent with it :)
    Thank you very much!!!!

Very nice continuation, I hope you will be ranting slightly on how FreeCad obsesses with constraint types where less buttons would perfectly work. I.e. conincidence and fix point on line could be one button which works based on what you selected. Same goes for dimensioning lines vs. diameters.
Oh, btw, the export selected geometries button might be useful if you need to base several parts off of the same sketch but want to use only part of a sketch. Since I never thought about this button before and I couldn't make it work, I follow your line of argument regarding explanation of said thing.

Great video. I'm learning a lot about basic CAD features I didn't really understand previously. I had to teach myself to be functional, but I was limited because I didn't have any type of basic training in the specific software. I really like your approach here using FreeCAD as a foundation. The Realthunder branch is quite useful from what I've seen so far. Looking forward to the next few videos in this playlist.

Thanks for an educational intro into Freecad.
I had looked at it before but put it aside as I couldn't really understand how it works.
Your first part and now this video made me better understand the software.
However I am struggling with the move command.
I can not repeatedly get the reference point I want to use to move it and when I do I can't really say what I did to archive it.
Here is what I understand I am supposed to do based on the rectangle as in the video:
    1. I create a rectangle by clicking on the first point and than at the second point.
    2. I highlighted the whole rectangle and than clicked on the point I wanted to use as reference (in this case the top right corner) until it is red
    3. Then hit CTRL M and I get the line for the move however it wasn't the top right corner but the bottom left it was referencing to
Can someone break it done for me into bite size pieces as to what I am doing wrong?
Also it seems to me that the middle mouse button reacts differently at times. I want to rotate the sketch but it moves it. Now I admit I still haven't ingrained the keyboard mouse combos but I believe I was doing the same combo in both cases.

'3. Then hit CTRL M and I get the line for the move however it wasn't the top right corner but the bottom left it was referencing to
Can someone break it done for me into bite size pieces as to what I am doing wrong?'
Had read your comment before going through this one, and figured it out. Don't move your mouse. Deselect and reselect works, you hit the same point, and it moves from that corner.
If you deselect then move the mouse and then hit the corner again, did you reselect the one you had earlier deselected, or did you deselect the other marker? And in fact, if you move off the marker it'll usually be red after the second deselect.

Thanks for these - I’ve been using FreeCAD for a while but I do get in a bit of a mess with the hierarchy because I didn’t really understand the workflow, I was just winging it and getting into a bit of a mess. Your first video really helped with that so I’m looking forward to learning some new stuff from this one. Another problem I get with a complex sketch is ending up swamped with too many constraints everywhere so I hope either this video has tips for that or maybe you could provide some advice next time? Thanks :)

From what I can see none of the multi character key binds work (where either of the keys are used for another bind) while editing a sketch. Changing the keybind for Trim (I used Shift+T) or any of the others enables it to work

While not ideal, these are still some of the best, "How to use ___ software," videos I've seen. The place could be a bit slower. It's always better to go a bit too slow than to force viewers to keep "rewinding." If they had to rewind then that means they are already in "cognitive overflow." Forcing them to rewind then causes even more cognitive overflow and makes it VERY easy for them to completely forget why they rewinded in the first place. Then they've got to go back further, and try to find where they lost track of things. Which causes more cognitive overflow.... You get the idea.
Also, it's not a bad thing to show something multiple times, with a little time in between. Show "Fundamental Thing A." Then show Things B and C. Then reshow Thing A again, in light of B & C. Don't just quickly restate something about A. Show it.
Remember, your "job" is NOT to just prove to us that YOU know how to do something. Your goal is to help your audience ACTUALLY learn it too. That almost always requires repetition.

Its hard to see what tool you have activated especially when you are such as fan of shortcuts which most people are not until they learn what which tool does.
