I really appreciate how you have walked through EVERY feature of each constraint. I have watched many tutorials explaining constraints but none have approached the level of detail you have provided here. I 've learned many new and surprising things about FC constraints. Thank you.

    Thanks!
This is a MUST HAVE, FIVE STAR video on constraints, period. I have yet to see a video or read a book on constraints that is as good as this!
I don't have Fusion360 anymore because they wanted to start charging me $70 per month to use it, and I've had it for years for use as just a hobbyist. I have Uninstalled Fusion360 on ALL my computers now. And I am just as capable creating with FreeCAD, WITH YOUR TUTORIALS!
I wanted something free and just as powerful and low and behold, FreeCAD is there and I think even possibly MORE POWERFUL! You have made the jump to it almost painless, a month ago I was pulling my hair out trying to get used to FreeCAD. Now it's a "Walk in the Park!" Thanks to you!!
There is stuff on constraints that you show on this video that I did not know was even possible!

That’s a really great explanation. I didn’t know, for example, that:
    - Point on object constraint can quickly create intersection points by selecting two lines and a point at the same time
    - Symmetric constraint may be used to create midpoints
    - Tangent constraint can serve as a colinear constraint when applied to lines

It's really helpful that you actually cover every tool, and not just the tool you happen to need to build the thing you happen to be building, like so many other tutorials. Thanks!

Best FreeCad lessons out there ... you're doing an outstanding job! ...to me watching other of your videos and knowing that your prefer CAD software is Rhino (so far the only company not going monthly subscription base) say a lot from you in helping users wanting to get into CAD design ¡Bravo! ✨👏🏼 ...ps. I hope you continue your lessons towards design a model for laser cut projects! 🙏🏼😉

I've been using freecad for perhaps a year after graduating from tinkercad. These videos are some of the most useful to the point videos I've encountered and I've already applied some of the info to my models. I'm still using mainline freecad but I've not encountered any issues.

I also appreciate how you teach and walk through every feature, very didactic and helpful for us. Keep like this and we hope you cover as much as you know the other aspects of FreeCAD. Thank you very much.

    Excellent videos!
I've gone through a number of tutorial series now, and no one had covered constraints in the depth you have here. I had no idea that some of these constraints could be used for projections, that's blown my mind given how much time I had been wasting with construction lines. Similarly for using the symmetry constraint to center on a line....the time I have wasted!...Again, really well done videos, thanks!

Snell's law describes how the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction of waves (like light for example ) behaves on the surface of transparent objects. It states, that the ratio of the sines of the angles of incidence and refraction are equivalent to the reciprocal of the ratio of the indices of refraction (sin(θ1)/sin(θ2)=n2/n1).
It is mainly used in optics and for ray tracing. It can be used to find the way a beam of light takes through a prism or some other shape.

I wanted to note this, but also that I personally don't see any use for it in creating 3D-printed models and this tool is appropriately glossed over.

This is a lot of great info, thank you. I'll have to rewatch it a couple of times, I imagine! I would love to see you do a tutorial on FreeCAD's draft workbench. And how that can work together with the sketcher, and part designer, etc. Thanks for the content. New sub.

Thank you for creating these videos. This is the best way to learn this program; one step at a time. I've learned more from your lessons than from several others, because you seem to have a knack of knowing how we think, and you do it at just the right speed - quickly enough to not be boring, yet slowly enough to understand.
I just have one question, although you may cover it somewhere else; what is the grid view useful for? I haven't seen any way to snap to it or anything (yet).

The first video I have seen of you was the one on the "Freecad-bug" !! From that it was clear that you are knowledgeable on Freecad and I was wondering about the training videos that you referred to in there. What sometimes happens, is that the videos that "knowledgeable people" produces are hard to follow ( for me anyway). their mouse flicks from one side of the screen to the other at the speed of white-light, with the only way to follow, being the "play-at-1/4-speed" option. Allow me to compliment you .. this is not at all the case with this, the first of your training videos that I have seen. Not only is it a comfortable speed, but still moving on ... but also the fact that you say what you do ..." and if I now click with the mouse ...".
I am starting my own little one-man-company and I have had to spend a lot of time on youtube to learn all the software that I am using ( including FC) and there are some really awfull videos out there. This is good stuff !!! Keep it up !!!

Bro.. you talk so fast. But I like it because I can blow through this pretty quick while also getting the hang of it. BTW the shortcuts are different on many of the tools on the latest version. most of my pausing is to find the short cut.

The only time that I've used a reference constraint is if I want to be able to reference that distance for anchoring something else (like a pad/pocket distance or reference plane offset). Particularly on the main branch with the broken naming issues.

It's important to note that autoconstraints can be deselected.
In case viewers are wondering why they aren't seeing them after inadvertently deselecting the option.

as a newbie to this all I can say is information overload but having said that also thanks for the explanations, I'm following along and pausing to replicate what you are doing, I will have to keep going over this a few times and will still mix up the order of selection as well lines verses points etc, will you be doing a model to bring all of this together?

Hi, probably a silly question: using freecad 0.19 (so not the Realhunder) the knob "create an edge linked to external geometry" does not show all these options, in fact it only shows one option. Do you know how I get all the options shown in this version 0.19 of freecad? The reason I use this one is because in "your" version the tool "sweep selected sketch along a path" did not work correctly.
