    I’ve been using Archoil fuel and oil additives in my 6.7. I used them in my 6.0 as well. Has helped me achieve fewer regens and a lower soot concentration in my DPF.

  • @vais3
    @vais3 2 года назад +20

    The EGR utilizes a sort of fixed AFR map based on various parameters to know when the engine is going to produce sooty air. I don’t remember the exact AFR value but I believe it was around 13.5 or something when smoke would be produced. The EGR closes when the truck accelerates with higher load (towing). The response then is for the SCR doser to increase flow to keep NOx at a particular threshold. With EGR closed, you will go approximately 2000-3000 miles before needing DEF as the SCR and DOC takes the brunt of the NOx reduction. I’m not saying you can simply remove or block the system but there are certain scalable parameters that make the EGR system stay closed longer. This is why hard working trucks stay clean longer.
    Also, EGR is closed during regen. I’ve got tons of data logs to back this.
    Can you daily drive any 6.7 diesel? Sure. Are their consequences long term by not working it hard or leaning on it more daily? Absolutely. Will this gum up the upper, lower and intake manifold/valve covers along with the intake valves? 💯 yes.
    The video above is clear evidence of this exact situation I’ve mentioned. Either work the truck hard or this will unfortunately happen.

      I apologize, but I cannot agree with most of your statements. Egr has nothing to do with soot, it's the first step in reducing Nox emissions. First implemented on diesel engines in 2003. the DOC and DPF came into play in 2007 and it's job is to simply deal with soot emissions! If its smoking, it's broken they say. 2010 year came with more stringent laws on Nox emissions and the SCR system with DEF fluid cleans up Nox further, outside the engine. I could rattle on about the science of it how the urea reacts with the Amox in the bricks and the chemistry of the transformation of Nox to hydrocarbon and H2o happens, but that would bore you. Im just a Cummins, Hino, Mack, and international certified tech for their engines so take me with salt if you will. Fuel efficient trucks stay cleaner longer..... because they burn less fuel.

      @@michaelcrowl9924 egr is the only way soot can get into the intake tract sir. Oily soot in the intact tract is a combination of egr activity and crankcase vapors. I picked up a 2018 rollover a couple weeks ago that was deleted and had an earlier ccv delete, took it apart, extremely clean. Automotive is not my discipline but I am an engineer, I fully understand the emissions system and its functions.

    It’s a hard balance having clean air in the world and preventing this type of stuff from happening. It’s definitely come a LONG WAY and is a lot better than in the past but is NOT perfect. I agree with you that most diesel trucks with high miles are ran hard and worked. A lot of people that buy these to just say they drive a diesel end up with a lot of issues.

    Thanks for the couple of videos on the lower intake and throttle body having issues from carbon build up. I decided to take a look. 2019, 126 thousand miles. Well it was about 90 percent blocked. Unbelievable. I'm not sure how this thing ran. The sensor there was completely covered. The MAP sensor was completely covered and blocked. I did the CVV reroute. I may have also done some other modifications to help with all this. The truck seems to run much stronger.

    • @vais3
      @vais3 2 года назад +3

      EGR is on every vehicle from gas to diesel as a government mandated system to meet emissions requirements. CCV is also mandated by law. There are unfortunately negatives to everything. The real question is, how long until those systems become problematic and what the costs will be for long term ownership. Best thing you can do. Maintenance, maintenance and maintenance. Keep up with CCV box replacement intervals. Ford doesn’t list any for the non-serviceable versions but rule of thumb is about every 60k-80k miles to keep the system as efficient as possible. The other thing is using the most up to date software. The leaner and cleaner the engine can run, the better.
      The truck above is a 15-15 6.7 and likely an F-250 unless the CCV TSB/ESP was performed. The fueling and air management is different on the 17-19 trucks. Similar externally but not the same software.

Since I had to remove both I hit them with a couple cans of brake cleaner and a brush followed that up with a thorough rinse from my hose and set them aside to completely dry out... That was 1-1/2 years ago, last month I installed the S&S Disaster Prevention Kit so once again I removed both intakes and it was nice to see there was very little buildup of this funk but I did clean them both anyway... I haven't replaced the CCV to the lower intake tube either time I removed it but I do inspect it before reconnecting it to the lower intake...

    Do you recommend installing the catastrophic CCP 4 prevention fuel pump system And also in your knowledge does that void the manufacturers warranty

    I noticed mine was really oily soot due to me towing about 11000 pounds when it went into reduced engine power I'm assuming the reduced engine power caused the Turbo not to spool or boost and caused it to dump a bunch of oil through the intakes Is that normal?

    What kind of fuel additives do you recommend? I’m sure motorcraft is good, but do you have anything against Power Service? That’s what my dad runs in his 6.0
