- For a while, I've been closely researching Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 - thanks to Daemon for the RPF extractor and mariokart64n (XnaLara Converter) for a tool to import models into Autodesk 3ds Max, jedijosh920 for finding the cut NPC and Wildbrick742 for finding the Scaleform minimaps.
This video will showcase everything that has been found inside the PlayStation 4 launch files.

Has anyone dug into potentially cut voice lines, cut scenes, or dialog text to see if there’s story content we never got to see in the game?
Not yet, hopefully though
probably not, because it’s a scoop to have Mexico, so much for Jonh so much for Arthur, so they discarded the idea
@@games.erithbr "it's a scoop to have Mexico" what do you mean by that?
The game just doesnt feel the same without Mexico...
it doesnt even make sense why its not in the game. like even if the story doesnt have it why cant we visit it without going out of map
@@ItsBlurrs I get it that they probably abandoned the idea to include Mexico due to the game already being huge and it would be even bigger with all those extra towns, NPCs, lines of dialogue, and bounty target missions. However I think they should at least add it as an update to the map even if it's just a plain land with no buildings or NPCs. I'd love to roam Mexico's landscapes again as John Marston. And it HAS to be in single player too, not only as an online update, because the story mode is what makes this game great
That wouldn't line up continuity-wise; John had never been to Mexico before RDR1
@@somepersonmcsomebody7501 As Arthur then?
@@Bosco_the_Historian Possibly, but I'm pretty sure the bridges from RDR weren't built until 1911.
in case you didn't know what the grave yard was called, it's El Sepulcro
I guarantee it's for a future rdr online update where they give you the Mexico map for online. I just want story DLCs dammit
@Iceman Cometh it would be so cool if they did. I remember when I first glitched into Mexico and saw all of the paths I was mindblown like wtf they have the roads and paths?!
Yeah I would like online first and then story. And I saw not only roads in nuevo paraíso but train track prints or marks? That is huge
Story dlc just isn`t as profitable for a rockstar game sadly.
@@MaximusPrime0835 exactly yeah I definitely saw the train tracks and followed them a bit and the tunnel where the train passes through is there but it's texture is replaced with a mountain texture. Also the dock that John gets on when he first enters Mexico is there
Just how they add it
Really wish Mexico was in rdr2, my favourite place in rdr1, so many memories :(
I feel like setting up a petition to make single player dlcs for us and finish Mexico area for RDR2.
I think mexico was planned because the fischerman says: i found a giant catfish up to frontera bridge.
Invisible bridge 🤔
Клоп Спик could be
Nonono need to think, this video proves it was planned
Really weird
The giant catfish is also a cut animal their model is in the files so yes it was cut
Tags for all towns: 0:56 Agave Viejo, 1:01 Las Hermanas, 1:06 Sepulcro, 1:11 Rancho Polvo, 1:16 Campo Mirada, 1:21 El Matadero, 1:26 Escalera, 1:31 Casa Madrugada, 1:36 Torquemada, 1:41 Laguna Borrego, 1:46 Chuparosa, 1:51 Chuparosa, 1:56 Barranca, 2:01 Tesoro Azul
If there are any misnamed models please correct me, also try to tell me what the unknown is.
Edit: I figured ou that the unknown is Rancho Polvo
You are doing gods work
@@David-pf3he thanks lol
I love these places in red dead 1 i would have rather the whole in 🇲🇽 tbh but its an american game
Nice :)
Mexico was probably supposed to be apart of the story mode at one point but they probably cut it when the epilogue was being planned and since john hasn't gone to mexico yet and Arthur cant go to New Austin so it wouldn't make sense
John claimed to have never been to new Austin in the first game so it already doesn’t make sense. They should’ve just kept Mexico as part of a different epilogue that’s non canon. Like it could’ve been epilogue part 3
@@gabeross8830 maybe john got punched too many times maybe hes a bit forgetful 😂😂
@@heyhocodyo01 in the canon story john was never in new austin until 1911, you can go there but just for nostalgia
@@omegaomg175 he goes with sadie to steal back a bounty in the NA canyon
@@ClaytonTheCracker for 20 minutes lmao and sadie never mentioned they were going to new austin he never was in armadillo or mcfarlane ranch so you cant tellhe was actually in new austin
I would love to see mexico. Do you think theres gonna be an update/DLC?
Borna Makiaveli I hope so 🙌🏽
Nope gta is to important for rockstar
all this is content they had to cut
I doubt it😔
I really hope so, today I was examined the area in online how it would look like it they updated, the only problem the baya de ramita, hope that I pronounced it correct, is a bridge and the roads would not make sense, at rio bravo in new Austin the entrance from Mexico to USA would need to be adjust, this means rockstar would need to add a new road in new Austin. The butter bridge and frontera bridge are ok they make sense.
Great showcase of your findings Vid! 👍
I hate how Rockstar prioritizes GTA over the Red Dead Redemption games even though RDR fans are much more passionate about the game, the majority of people who play GTA probably don’t even know there’s a campaign
True. RDR series is better in every aspect. Especially more mature stories.
Nice vid bro hope you guys keep finding stuff! :D
Is there a possibility to recover some of these models with mods in the future?
hopefully we wont need too and they add a dlc either online or in story
@@ItsBlurrs hopefully yes. But I'm almost certain it'll be an online update only and I'm mad about that. Can't they just add it to online and then let us have it in single player too? I'd even pay for a Mexico single player expansion, if it was well made like New Austin was
Is there a way you can actually put the Mexico buildings back onto the map?
The buildings all need textures
@@arthurmorgan7333 I see, that's strange to me because you'd think they'd already have their textures because they're basically ported from RDR1. The mine in Gaptooth Ridge just behind the blocked barrier in RDR2 if you take a mod camera back there it will be the RDR1 caves with their textures. And El Presidio also has it's texture granted it's very low poly and some parts have no collision but it's still there nonetheless
not really..those models are just meshes and are even more low quality than the el presidio we can already see, they're just lods but not actual models..the only way to have them is to wait for openiv to be updated and for modders to convert from rdr1(if it's possible) or model everything themselves
If they removed files from PC version, this means that the Mexico DLC will not be 😔
KorsaTuS mexico dlc is never happening lmao they won’t make an entire new part of the map
@@viewbob4755 I know 😔
@@viewbob4755 guess again
@@MrBlack252 I'm afraid you've been misinformed, Sherlock.
@@camilasmithson5410 nope, they're not making a Mexico DLC but they're remastering RDR1 with the RDR2 map and models.
Such high quality content and such a low subscriber count. Keep it up Maby it’ll raise one day (maybe not considering RUclips is pretty weird these days) still good job anyway.
If Rockstar is going to do a Mexico dlc, they need to either make it a story mode only or online and story mode dlc. Although knowing Rockstar, they probably just make it a shitty online update.
idk why theyre so against us doing anything with mexico or anything out of bounds in general
Great video!
Very interesting
I’ve noticed on the pc port that sometimes when you cross from New Austin to Mexico the orange lighting from new Austin turns to a different orange haze in mexico
So cool!
There is music for Mexico in the game as I have heard it I'm not the only one
The props for Mexico are rdr1 assets because they ported the map to the game think about it why remake the same map from scratch when you already have the map and model's all you need to do is upgrade the textures
These models are not completed, so it's proof they were remade, not just ported over.
Why would they go through the trouble of redoing it all and touching it up and leave it unused?
2:37-2:44 - Futhermore, JEDIJOSH920 found a cut NPC model "S_M_M_MEXARMY_01", however the model no longer exists.
Interesting video, thank you 👌🤔
RDR3 files highly hint that Mexico was removed from RDR2 to be included in RDR3
I would be more than glad if they delayed rdr2 to have been released in 2020 so they could have 2 extra years of development time so they could completely finish modeling and tweaking Mexico and New Austin
The town models are probably rdr1 leftovers.
What is "NVO_01.RPF"? I know that model has been removed in the PC version.
if this is in the game files imagine what modders will do when openIV with editing comes out
Modders aren't magicians, y'know. Even with OpenIV editing, there really isn't much you can do with those low quality meshes, not to mentions those are only LODs (Meshes that change depending on how far a player is on the map). There aren't even textures found for the lods, so judging by that, just seems like modders will have to model the towns on their own.
@@camilasmithson5410 ok but i didn't ask
:)
I may get pc copy just to dig into files for cut content in this map.
Is there a way to port these files on ps4? So you can see the models from new Austin
You gotta understand the reason Mexico isn’t there is because it didn’t make sense because Arthur/John never have a reason to go there that’s why it’s not cut content it’s not dlc
da fuq are you talking about, john was never in new austin until 1911, you can go there but just for nostalgia but in the canon story john was never there
Hey dude, can you please ask someone to make a Mexico mod? I would like to see Mexico remastered..
Is it possible to apply those town models into the game? Maybe the modders can make what rockstar don't

There aren't even textures found for the lods, so judging by that, just seems like modders will have to model the towns on their own (and make or enhance the existing building textures).
Rdr3? 0:41
It means rdr2, look: rdr1 is red dead revolver, rdr1 is rdr2, and rdr2 is rdr3, understand now
I wonder what the models would look like if they were placed in game.

@@camilasmithson5410 Yeah its crazy to me how people see these pizza shapes and think they'd be perfect recreations. It's so obvious they are extremely poor LOD models ripped from the first game much like the whole of the mexico map. They would have never planned for mexico to be playable.
They also never put them in the game because it saves on resources as you should have never seen any of this.
