I've played the game and seen so many of these that it just becomes natural that all these details are there. Especially animal behaviour I find is very impressive. Predators hunt prey, dogs play, deer and horses flee etc.
The first playthrough was so good, felt so immersive as if I was living in that world. No game as come even close yet. Valhalla tried but failed, doesn't even compare

I have the same experience. RDR1 was my favorite game ever as a kid, the only game I’ve ever 100%’ed and I did it by accident and John was like, my favorite person ever so my first play through was pretty much just filler until I could play as John… didn’t do any side missions or anything like that, did the bare minimum… I think towards the latter part of the game I just failed each mission as quickly as possible just to be able to skip to the end… But my second? I actually did quite a lot of the game and I loved it so much that I started a third playthrough… which I have about 120 hours in to it and I’m still in Chapter 2 lmao Got my legendary satchel, finished all the challenges I could, all the strangers I could and I’m currently trying to get as much of the compendium filled as I can before I move on the chapter 3

Damn, it will be a decade for a new game that can beat this realism, bcs this game takes literally 8 years to put all the details. It's not about the advance of the engine, but about the hardwork their put into this game
I really think advancement in gaming needs to be in the games themselves. It's been like 3 gens of hardware upgrades. A lot of games still play and feel like ps3 era even tho they look next gen on a nice tv
This came out like 4 years ago, how did this not set a standard in gaming. 4 years ago they accomplished an absolute stunning work of art and every game should be held to a similar standard. Especially because tech has advanced since then. This game blows me away (currently replaying it)
Only reason this game doesn’t get the credit it gets is bc they butchered the online mode. Either way the story is a masterpiece id rather play with Arthur anyway than be a mute online
RDR2 is one of the best games I've ever played along with the likes GOW and Spider-Man. What a game and accomplishment by Rockstar. I hope to play RDR3 in the future if they ever make it.
The boat part in particular blew my mind when I first experienced it. I shot the boards just to see if they did an effect, and was impressed enough by that level of realism. You can imagine my shock when it actually started to fill with water and sank.
Yeah I love the detail, also that shooting the troughs and the water going down is really cool I bet most other games if you shot the side nothing would happen
What impressed me most is actually how Rockstar can optimize the game really well. I run this game on an old Athlon! Medium-High settings still get me >30 fps.
Yeah it is sadly even though it would be pretty easy to do. Valve games do it all the time, too bad they don't really make games anymore with Alyx being the sole exception.
No, that’s one of the least impressive details in this list. In terms of coding, it’s very simple too. Stuff like the actual horse animations, those are works of art. But the horse shoes appearing isn’t much of a detail.
@@deathwish-gg8wz As a 3D modeler myself and someone who has minimum coding experience, I can guarantee you that modeling and texturing those horseshoes wouldn't take 15 minutes, given that they're a company and obviously have the textures and materials ready for use. The whole "If a girl is insulted, a man with fight for them" in the game happens to female online players too. I play as a female, and my friend dragged me and an npc told my friend to stop 2 or 3 times, then started to best her up. If I dragged her in front of him, he would do the same to me.
Holy shit, they even went as far as to add refraction to the glass from the molotov cocktail (if you don't know what refraction is, it's basically what makes things look bigger or smaller when looking through transparent things). I still find it a miracle that this game can run on hardware from 2013...
It's not really that impressive. They already have the shader/material applied to the bottle in the first place and it just stays that way for the fragments aswell
This game released in 2018 and set standards that are still yet to be matched. Graphically this game could still stand toe to toe with triple A titles in another 3-5 years from now. In terms of attention to detail the only other contender I think is TLOU2 and even that doesn’t come close. RDR2 is a masterpiece
Seeing the details in this game and then imagining how detailed & realistic GTA6 is going to be gives me chills. I pray Rockstar includes nature & animals as much as they can in GTA6.
I'm seriously impressed. Especially the eating, decaying, the arching and the horse testicles are such an extra effort. Seriously, so much work for something most won't even notice...
I used to doubt it until I finally got to play it in 2021, both ps4 and pc. One of the reasons I fell in love with this game is Arthur. He's a relatable character unlike someone like Trevor from GTA V.

"The horse is afraid of animals" A fact i'm sure anyone who's played RDO knows. Or at least, I do. My horse will cower in fear of just about everything, except bears. He'll chase bears down like they owe him carrots.
Different horses seem to master different fears. Most of my horses will cower at a snake, but I have one that'll chew them up for breakfast and stomp all over them. I also have another that'll stare down a charging grizzly like it's a kitten.

My favorite detail is the hunting wounds, which is how we go about avoiding a bad pelt. The bruising depending on what weapon you use is brilliant. I try to hunt primary in arrows, but even hitting the pelt too low, you get some serious bruising. Not to mention when your gun is too powerful. It's nice to see such realism in a game so many cheat in. Ps. You missed the freckles on the female chests.
I have to say, the first time I played the game, I was certain I was controlling a dude down in UTAH or something. The shear amount of detail and sounds and interactions that are possible are truly satisfying and immersive. great video to highlight this! I had no idea the NPC ate food haha.
With the blood on clothes, if youre playing as John and come home with bloody clothes, Abigail will say something about how you shouldn't have blood on your clothes while your son is there
The first thing I noticed was that each individual branch brushes you and springs back up when I went a little off-path and was running through the forest. It just got better and better from there. Also, when you can't see the stars in a highly populated area, that's called light pollution.

this is probably the best game ever because of it's details. Did any of you guys know that the NPCs have actual lives. If you secretly follow them, they will go to work, do daily activities like visit the post office, then return home to there families. amazing.
The 1st Crysis has a cool one like the last one listed. If you shoot from the top to bottom of an oil barrel you will see it correctly drain top to bottom. Love details like these.
This game blew my mind; I recall visiting the movie tent and seeing the projectionist sitting there, reading the newspaper only to actively operate the camera...who was the same guy that took your ticket. I thought Skyrim was detailed in amazing ways when it released, I have that same feeling with RDR2.
Here's another detail: I've seen Sean (outside of a mission) loot a body and steal a horse. I personally didn't know he could do that, and was curious to see if this was on here. Did y'all know about this?
It’s also the things everyone notices but are still cool, like in most games when you shoot and arrow or a throwing knife it’s gone but in RDR2 you can run back up and pick it up. Or that you can actually use it as a close range knife
This game is the biggest waste in history. You know how you can go around other sandboxes on a killing spree or start a shooting just because? Besides the hostiles NPCs in this game I found it really hard to kill an NPC just because; like, they were way too human. Fantastic and shocking.

Man it's such a pain when you have to make a whole game but imagine you had a whole team so you could just really give it your all on one thing, amazing. I'd love to be able to put that level of attention into things someday.
The bear encounters are insane. The first time I got mauled by a bear my jaw dropped. Felt so terrifying watching this gigantic grizzly charging so realistically through some bushes to pop out on the other side and absolutely demolish me in the most brutal way possible.
