    What is with this assertion among younger groups - and some older individuals - to associate the look of analog film with “nostalgia”? I know this is only a short video and you are summarising these tools quickly, so I’m not blaming you, but it is something I hear consistently. For many people, including myself, it is associated with “quality”, “storytelling”, and “artistic” imagery, or a feeling of “impressionism”. Isolating film elements with modern digital tools, such as grain, halation, gate weave, etc. doesn’t mean they are being used exclusively to evoke imagery from a bygone era; unless, of course, that is the desired goal.

    One more to add in to the 'mix' - FilmConvert Nitrate - same features/quality as Dehancer but at a MUCH lower cost...

    • @DaCarnival
      @DaCarnival 9 месяцев назад

      Except it's really not - I've been using Nitrate (and before that FilmConvert) for years, and recently downloaded a FilmBox trial. Filmbox works well in a color managed workflow, and is there for much more flexible and "clean", where as Nitrate is basically a LUT with a couple of sliders, and is a pain to use with CST's. But I won't pretend to understand all of the technical reasons, FilmBox just looks waaay better... So I paid the very steep price :/

    Filmbox should sell an educational/non profit version for those who aren’t making money and just making art. $1000 is just too much to spend on something that might not even work in a year if daVinci decides to change something or a different computer technology comes out.
