In my (strong) personal opinion, it is safer to not attempt a re-rack. This is especially true if you are using heavy dumbbells and/or finishing your sets with no reps in reserve.

I have the black widow dumbbell spotter arms, and can confirm they suck. Too bad it cost me $500 to figure that out, but I do use them as handles for my rack attached squat md so they do get some use 😅
