Well, that is a one of the reasons I want to watch this interview, but when it comes to your point, her voice is so beautiful, even when she is just being herself.

I can’t write it off as “guttural screams” because it’s more than that. There’s a very catholic feel to it and it’s done in a protest way, very emotional and very operatic.
Her laughter before she answers the question about her mental and physical situation is so heart-breaking now, knowing what she was going through. Really happy that she's recovering now. She's a strong woman and deserves a lot.
She seems like just the nicest, most intelligent, honest, cheerful and open and not in the least bit threatening person you'll ever listen to. But there was a point where Anthony ducked down out of the frame and started clanking around trying to find something, and she's up there by herself and wondering wtf?, and I think I saw just a trace of annoyance pass over her countenance, and at least here, where I live, there was a sudden crack of thunder and a flurry of sirens. Then he pops back up with a shop light and she laughs and all is good again.

Jacob Schall Well, that’s part of it. The area she was describing isn’t that. Western, especially South Western PA is the main area you’re thinking of. Tons of rust belt towns that are all dried up and dead, like what she described, except in Eastern PA the town industries were different (for the most part). PA is great imo, just not the politics of the state, overall, save for Philly and Pittsburgh (not that there isn’t shit politics/politicians in those cities, but it’s just waaayyyy better than the rest of the state, which we call, “Pennsyltucky”.)

I don’t get her musical appeal, perhaps due to taste, but I do get her artistic appeal and love her approach to creating and embodying her art. So raw yet beautiful.
I’m curious what it is you don’t like about her music, everyone I ask this to that doesn’t like it just kinda gives a one word answer. Do you want to elaborate?
