I saw it happening live. Santa Fe Junction is the best rail cam. You can see there something unique almost everyday. Technically you can have there a 5 way meet!
Daniel Garrett the stress on the couplers would be very intense but if they had powered units spread out throughout the train I suppose they could make it as long as they want
If it is an all double track mainline, like the old Santa Fe, on the tallest bridge, trains can be over 160 cars long. (NS Chicago line, CSX B&O, UP Overland Route, UP between Saint Louis and Kansas City and CN Between Toronto and Montreal.) But most trains will be around 110 cars so they can fit into 2 mile long passing sidings on single track lines, which are most of them.
Thanks man, to my knowledge Cincinnati is like Memphis and Ft. Wayne. A group of single Track lines come together to make a busy railroad city. One day I would like to go down to De Coursey KY, to the old L&N yard to see all old freight cars being scrapped.
@@kingdoughnut7244 I've heard bout that place. Went this year to lunsford Kentucky to the new platform and caught a bunch. Ever get a chance you got to check that out also
Does anyone know what ever happened to the Rock Island Railroad when I was growing up that was the main rails through of my hometown but I do know where around you don't see him anymore
The Rock Island went bankrupt in the early 80's. It was partially abandoned but important bits were bought by other carriers such as the Illinois Central. The Rock Island is one of my favorite railroads as well.
Best LIVE Rail Cam location on the Internet. 👍

What happened to the North East live feed, has been down several weeks, miss it.
Ha... Three way.
Lotsa tank cars. Is this Warren Buffet 's answer to oil pipelines?
Having a threeway with two other foamers is on my bucket list
Most foamers are dudes, each to his own
