    When I lived in Kansas City, almost every weekend I spent a few hours at Santa Fe Junction. There's never a dull moment - have caught up to 5 trains at once.

    For being such a busy junction, it's really neat that the old searchlight signals are still in place.

    Is it, just, me, or is there, almost, a kind of music in the squeal of the wheel flanges against the rail heads, the engine bells, and the engine horns?

      It's real music to my ears. I have always lived within ear-shot of tracks and absolutely love going to sleep with the sounds of a train passing.

    Looked like the BNSF engineer held up a bit to make a near-perfect over/under. NICE!

    Clean, no graffiti rail cars. Now that is a novelty? The tanker train must have had a few nastier with the number of barrier wagons used. 2 barrier wagons before the pusher's and some mid train. The first tain ever to use the route over the bridge with hi-cube double stack and 55' long must have had feeler gauges to get it through?

    One of the first things I noticed in this excellent video was the large sign painted on one of the bridge supports: NO SANDING. Haven't seen a sign like this before and wondered if anyone out there can elucidate.

      @daviddowling9830 4 года назад +1

      John Walters yes,it means no sanding and they are serious about it.

      No sanding sign is there because of the crossing there. If a engineer lays sand down sometimes within a car or two, it can shunt out the circuit there and give a wrong signal indication at that location such as a clear signal on the opposing line when there is actually a train on the diamond.

    Question about Conrail. I know of the major companies that merged to form Conrail, but when it was broken up who got what parts?

    • @braysfinds7479
      @braysfinds7479 4 года назад +1

      It was split between CSX and NS, I think CSX got more of the Locos and track. Whilst NS got most of the rolling stock.

    Why would a train be hauling all those empty container wells? Seems like a waste of fuel and horsepower.
