To everyone scrolling through the comments: *DO.NOT.STOP* When I was getting my back walkover, I at some times got discouraged. Sometimes I would be able to kickover off a low platform but then I'd loose it. It happens to EVERYONE! But I NEVER quit! I kept at it! I told myself "Everyone falls, but not everyone chooses to stand back up." I used to be able to kick maybe 2 or 3 inches off the ground and then I'd collapse, and I'm sure that's where most of you are at at this point unless your just scrolling through to comments for fun. *START ON RAISED PLATFORMS!!* Raised platforms are going to be your BEST FRIEND when getting your back walkover. I have a little hill in front of my house, so that was what I used as a "raised platform." But if u don't have that, try using (if you have them) gymnastics mats, fold them up to create a stack and after a while take it off mat by mat. If you don't have that try using your bed, couch, coffee table, (the wall?). I know most people are wondering how long it probably took me? Well tbh it only took ME 5 days. But keep in mind I was out there everyday after school constantly practising and stretching and falling. If you don't have the patience or mental strength to do this then Idk if gymnastics is for you. ALSO I didn't have anyone there to spot me or to encourage me. If u had someone it might take less time, but everyone is different. It might take YOU a whole week! 2 weeks, 3 weeks, a month! It depends. Anyways I hope this helped you! Remember: KEEP TRYING! You WILL get it with time, practise, and patience.

I used to get them too. Try doing controlled breathing before entering the backbend and continue it throughout the stretch. A lot of people don't realize they subconsciously hold their breath while doing a backbend and that helps the headache form.

Three months ago I was as stiff as a stick and had no idea what I was doing. But dedication and time is key! In only three months I learnt what could probably take someone a year or so to learn! GET. BACK. UP. AGAIN. So I was working on my backbend earlier. I read that most people can't get it because they're scared of falling backwards. I figured, "I've already (literally) walked into a brick wall today. How bad can falling from a backbend be?" So I tried it. The first time, I fell. And I immediately got back up again. Then, I fell again. I got back up, more reluctantly now. This time, I adjusted my position in efforts to land on the safety pillows I had put down. I tried again, failed again, and got back up. Next, I landed it but my head was on the pillow. So I tried again. And I landed it right. So I removed one of the pillows from the stack. Once more, my head hit the pillow. But I didn't fall. So I kept trying. My head hit the pillow again, so I stood with my legs closer together the next time. I landed it and removed yet another pillow. There was only one left between me and the floor. I took everything I had accumulated about my stance so far and used it on this one. And I landed it on the first try, though my hands weren't lined up, with one hitting the pillow and the other hitting the floor. I went again, same stance, same level. I successfully landed it, perfectly lined up and not too close to the floor. So I removed the last pillow. This was it, the real thing. If I failed, it would really hurt, both my body and my pride. But I did it anyways. I removed the last of many pillows and went down. I fell but I caught myself. Again, I thought. I attempted it again. But to my surprise, my back locked up when I tried to go down. I put the pillow back and did it just fine. But when I took it away again, I also took away all my progress. I knew it was a mental thing, but my brain was telling my back to stop. No. I have to beat this fear. And I did... And now here I am, working on the next step in gymnastics. So just keep trying. It will hurt for a few minutes if you fall but you will be fine afterwards. However, if you give up now, you'll regret it forever and it'll hurt much more.
i think i all most broke a rib ( try to do it , then twisted and fell right on my face omg it hurt so bad, and yes ik i am late but i want to learn and this is wasting your time reading this go practice)

Learn hw to do a front walkover if it’s easier, it really helped my fear and made me more confident and more determined:) front walkovers way more easier, and it gets over the fear, also remeber to workout your legs, abs shoulders and arms for strength :)

I have my backbend, but not my kickover. I can lift my good leg off the ground but I can't push my bad leg off the ground. It won't go up in the air. I don't know what to do.
Try pushing your shoulders outwards and tucking your head in then just kick off your good leg and let yourself drift. These tips helped me with my kickover
kickover is one of my hardest skills i had to learn it took me like 4 months lol. my tip is get a strong kick, move your hands to ur feet as close as possible, and look at the ground

Julesp 22 It's either because you don't have as much fluids inside your body, meaning you don't drink much or you probably over worked yourself and got dehydrated really bad. Make sure you drink sips of water during gymnastics!

I think your one of the only people on RUclips that give good tips. In other videos people say you will need these skills but the skills Are basically the skill there trying to teach you and you said you will need a backbend but if we don't have it then we can watch your video for it. WubbyBunny try doing it faster so there’s less pressure the only reason I’m here for this tutorial is I hurt my back and now I can’t push off my foot for some reason but when I had my back walkover (it was my favorite thing) I learned that by going faster almost as if go can do two in the same time a one ☝️ it helped me so much and strengthen my arms

Shaymin MSP well I tried it when I was a begging and I couldn't do it. Then I started doing Alivia's backbend tutorials and in one week and three days I got my backbend!!! So here I am now two weeks since I started trying to do the back walkover and then a back handspring. The point is when you have a goal you can't just do it by the first try. Keep trying and eventually you will get it!! Sorry I know this comment is huuuuge😂

Stick your chest and head out for momentum. Don’t think “legs go over,” think “hips go over”

You may have already got it but try doing it on a flat surface, for me, beds are too bouncy

Shaymin MSP well I tried it when I was a begging and I couldn't do it. Then I started doing Alivia's backbend tutorials and in one week and three days I got my backbend!!! So here I am now two weeks since I started trying to do the back walkover and then a back handspring. The point is when you have a goal you can't just do it by the first try. Keep trying and eventually you will get it!! Sorry I know this comment is huuuuge😂
I can do it now but it's really hard.You need to work hard 2-3 weeks.If you have'nt got enough room to do it you can try it in the play grounds.That's really works.In 3 week I go to the play ground and try to this.Now I can do it perfectly.Dont give up.İts really hard and seems imposible but you can do this.Believe yourself.Thank you Alivia💕Hi from Turkey...
