Recently went live on mobile using LTE the quality sucked but got a good response, been learning OBS but the biggest issue is the lag tried many settings but cannot find the correct one
I have not gone live on my own channel yet. But I run a church channel where we go live two times a week with multi cams using a mixer, capture card and Wirecast. Thanks for this video Sean, I never realised there was so many different options to go live.
I go live with my cell phone, an lgv20. I do a weekly blacksmithing livestream. Have definitely had my stream interupted by an incoming call. Will have to try the computer method soon.
I’ve been doing live movie reviews from my mobile. Thanks for the speed test tip, and prep advice, will prevent some issues that have arose on my last live stream.
Thanks for making this video! I know it’s time for me to try going live. I think it’s the right format for doing behind the scenes of my travel videos I have on RUclips.
imagine im watching this now! in 2020. im about to do my first live stream. my channel is still a baby so here I am learning some tips. Thanks Sean, very clear as always
Thank you Sean, I have learn't so much from this one video. I have been subscribed to you for a long time and rarely write in the comments. If your wondering I have been trying my best to crush it! Never done a Livestream so learning all I need to know!
I went live on my IPhone for the first time this past Sunday and I totally dismissed the internet connection it lagged a lot. Eventually there was an error uploading the HD version so there is a lot of jumps in the playback. Great video from you guys like always. Going LIVE is definitely something I'm going to keep doing, time flies especially when you are engaging with your audience.
abbycat000 yes you are able to see them as they are coming in. I was using Google an iPhone 8+ and at first I would see them and then they disappear so all you have to do is tap the screen and then you can scroll up or down to see them all. It was my first stream and it went pretty well, at the end it gives you analytics from the stream. Have you done it already or are you planning to do it?
Jesus Alfonso Canal Thanks for the feedback! I haven't tried live streaming on RUclips but really want to in order to connect with my audience a lot more. I will admit it makes me nervous. It will eventually happen....soon ☺️ I just took a look at your channel and I also make Spanish videos on another channel!
abbycat000 no problem. I was a bit nervous at first, but I tried to treat it like a regular video at first with a little notes. ThenI just answered people’s questions and went from there. The time went by so fast, I thought i would only do it for 15 mins ended up doing 1hr30mins. Send me a link to that channel so I can check it out. Good luck, and let me know how the stream goes.
Thank you so much for your CLEARLY explained tutorial!! I just have 1 question... If I want to embed a RUclips Live on my own website, should I list it as public or private? I'm assuming I should make it private since I don't want people on RUclips to watch it, but only the peeps on my website.
I am planning my first live stream soon and a bit nervous and I am wondering if I don't have a person that can monitor the chat session along with it how big of a disadvantage would that be? By the way I love your videos they are EXTREMELY helpful! Keep em coming!
QUESTION! You mentioned that after the live stream you go in and edit the description. I have heard that when you edit the description or title after you publish a video it basically erases all the analytics on the back end and you start from scratch. As a person that is trying to build a RUclips channel I need all the viewing minutes I can get However we never really know what we’re going to speak about on a live video until after the fact and would love to update the description. Have you found this to be true?
Hey Shaun, Which is the best one to use if I want to live stream from a macbook pro but without using a camera, I would also want other youtubers as guests so that we can do a podcast/video-cast on my channel? Thanks
might be a good idea to update this one since YT changed live mobile streaming guidelines...we now need 1k subscribers to go live on mobile. also - this video was super helpful when i got my first video up. thank you, Sean!
A friend put me on your channel, and it's great. I'm going to do my first live-stream this Sunday (18:00 Montreal time if anyone is interested ;), and this video was the most useful one I've seen on RUclips. The other ones went too fast and took for granted stuff I did not know (like what OSB is!). Anyhow, I'm going to use the camera - for what I'm going, that should suffice. What is the best way to do a test run privately beforehand?
Your last question - i thought this vid would cover it. You can choose the video’s privacy as ”Private” instead of ”Public” that way no one would see it, and you can check back and watch it once its over. That is the only way I know of, hope it helped.
Great information! First time watching. Subbed because you are a very good example of how good content is created. Clear voice, good video quality, good eye contact with multiple cameras...overall excellent.
Thank you for sharing. I am just starting out so need teaching on beginning. Some things I didn't know what you were saying but I know that I will learn more as I go. You are professional and appreciate your help.
Very informative, thank you for sharing. I had gone live a few weeks back and was frustrated that I couldn't screen share and didn't understand why Google Hangouts had failed me. Now, I now how to go about Hangouts to screen share from here.
I learned a lot from your videos....question: I just got a Canon G7X II and cannot not find info on how to control the camera from a PC for shooting videos, I want to be able to control the focus from my PC not the camera so I don't have to keep getting up? Thanks in advance!
Thank you for all these great tips! I am getting ready to go live for the first time later this month so I’ve been doing some research and I really appreciate your thorough video!
Great work cutting to the chase and giving us the information that we need. I'll be looking at your other videos! I've done 4 live streams so far with my laptop, and am planning on a 5th tomorrow. I've always don e it through RUclips itself by clicking on the "Create a Video or Post" icon near the top right of the screen.
We are getting ready to test the Stream Live Now feature for a multi camera shoot. We use an encoder box we use to go live on Facebook - takes the feed right out of a video switcher for the multi camera.
Love ya buddy 👍💗. I ALWAYS come to your channel FIRST for any technological how to! Yours are the absolute best! We can really tell that you love what you do and we appreciate all the information and help that you provide us! So a huge THANK YOU 🙏👍💗
When i go LIVE form my iPhone I can't flip the mirrored image which is a problem as I'm teaching guitar. Any ideas how to overcome this? On Facebook Live there is a button you can flip the image when on selfie mode - thanks! Robin
Question: Can I use my smartphone as a webcam for my laptop and then use my mic and audio interface for audio? Also are there requirements for superchat? Like a minimum amount of subscribers?
Hello Sean, thanks for your wealth of information. I am planning a RUclips launching party to launch my channel. Which Live Streaming way would you recommend best for this? What link do I use to let people on social media go to the live party? Thanks for your help.
My questions pertain to what I suspect one cannot do but I'd like to check: 1) Livestream from FilmicPro app on iOS to RUclips? Why would I want to? Because my iWatch has a Filmic remote app I can use to start/stop recording - I'd want to mount my phone on the ceiling to stream a how to and so using the touch screen to start/stop/etc once I've positioned the phone is a problem. If not then 2) Is there an iOS RUclips app that has a watch component to preview/start/stop the streaming? (same reason as above)
1:26 ... this is where I'm having trouble at the moment. I click on camera but I get a blank screen. I don't see the Live stream info box that pops up at 1:30 . My live-streaming is enabled and I can do it with OBS (but I get a huge lag over a minute), but I don't know why I'm not getting that Info box. :-/ *edit* Ok, it seems it just doesn't like Safari. I opened it in Chrome and I got it set up no problem! :) This video really helped me set this up though, so cheers! :)
I have been talking to Tubebuddy and they have been finding that VidIQ will for some people prevent Thubebuddy letting you use Tubebuddys suggested tags to work.
Just did my first live stream test with the basic version. I will test the Event mode next from a different location. Great tips, that helped a lot with our youth Sports training channel!! thank you from the Strength of America Staff
Just noticed it... I know you have always used the tag line but I just noticed your copy of Crushing It in the background... Crush It and ReWork were two of the books that inspired us to start our online company years ago!

Thanks for making this video! I know it’s time for me to try going live. I think it’s the right format for doing behind the scenes of my travel videos I have on RUclips.
Thanks. I plan to go live 25th August so just ensuring I and all the team know what we are doing and have practiced.
You are correct about people checking their upload speed before going live. Nothing is worse that seeing blocky, pixel full streams.
100%
This was so nice and informational! I'm thinking of doing my first live but I'm so nervous that no one's going to show up 😅
I’m curious if you’ve done one yet? I have the same fear but will face that fear soon..!

Thanks for the instructions in Plain English :-)
Can you use two usb mics at once and what would I need to take phone calls?
If you have VidIQ installed you can make a custom thumbnail on hangouts. Great video friend.
Great tip Mike - love vidIQ - I'll try that out!
I have been talking to Tubebuddy and they have been finding that VidIQ will for some people prevent Thubebuddy letting you use Tubebuddys suggested tags to work.
Going live on my mobile device is my favorite. Outstanding video. Cheers
Just did my first live stream test with the basic version. I will test the Event mode next from a different location. Great tips, that helped a lot with our youth Sports training channel!! thank you from the Strength of America Staff
