Hi Charles. Peter from Noosa Australia. Whot a great sky, tried it myself, and yes don’t be afraid of the dark. Your instruction on using different light, sorry I have already forgot the fancy name but you know because your an artist! Almost forgot the reflections, you made it look easy, just like Monet.
Seriously, thanks for a great lesson. I think I have learned more today than I have in a long time.

I can watch these over and over. Your paper angle is so steep yet you just breeze a long with the wet edge yielding to gravity (wash out, squeeze out, mop up). Your style has forced me to carry on with it instead of slowly laboring as I do with oils. Every brushstroke of yours seems so causal but I'm finding out its not as easy as it looks. Thank you for sharing your talent!

Beautifully strong colours and seascapes bouncing off those art papers... always envoking emotions and adventure
with all that you do, i’ve walked almost every little pathway you have painted and stood under almost every tree and loved each one.
Just as I did as a kid.
You come across as a very wise earthbound weathered sea Captain of days long ago and of course that adds to the adventure, lol.

Absolutely fantastic lecture - subscribed. I was actually on my way on purchasing oil painting materials after purchasing an oil painting course on udemy. I just felt that watercolour was too pale and bright for the kind of sceneries I wanted to paint. But your video here has just made me stop the transaction, and I'm going to practice this painting with your techniques. I used to think watercolour was a shadow of what oil painting can do and blamed my brushes or not getting the results I wanted, but as my school art teacher used to say "a bad workman always blames his tools". Thanks for sharing this amazing tutorial. All the best from Scotland!

Oh wow so glad to come across you on YT! Still remember your series on tv from over 10 years or so. Still using the holbein palette that I bought from you. Trust your first one that your mum bought you is still securley framed and mounted with it's hole in the middle!? Just about to leave for the Yorkshire Dales this weekend for a week and then make our way up to the Highlands of Scotland west of Inverness. It does give us the op to stop and maybe look at some of your previous haunts I can remember from the series, Vindolanda, Sea Houses and maybe Craster! Also am I right in remembering you saying that Benny Hill used to drink the most unusual creamy drinks?!! Sorry if I got that one wrong. Great painting as always. Many thanks for so many years inspiration and happiness. Take care all.

What a great painting, especially like the stormy sky. I bought 4 of your books and am practicing away. But they are nothing like watching you paint and trying to follow along. Might I ask what type masking tape you use. Mine seems to want to tare the paper a little.

The tape is nothing special, but it’s dependable. It’s on my website.
