The wind is howling and the snow is blowing here in Michigan, but I went sailing far away with you today regardless. I painted along with you and the picture turned out great. You really know how to help us relax and just simply paint. Thank you once again Charles and Gail!
Hello I am so sorry if this sounds weirds but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be friends.
Wow, thank you so much for this great painting. For months people have been telling me that my watercolours are too bright and that they should be paler. I just carried on regardless but I am now sending all those people a link to this video. Wishing a happy and healthy New Year to you and Gail xx
Nobody should put limits to what you should or can do when you are creating. It’s your work, your choice. And by the way plenty of watercolourists who work with bright colours.
Hi Charles. Peter from Noosa Australia. Whot a great sky, tried it myself, and yes don’t be afraid of the dark. Your instruction on using different light, sorry I have already forgot the fancy name but you know because your an artist! Almost forgot the reflections, you made it look easy, just like Monet. Seriously, thanks for a great lesson. I think I have learned more today than I have in a long time. Hope all is well in your world, have a great new year. And be kind to each other Yours Peter Butler.
Love painting this! I was worried about painting that sky but since I’ve been improving since I started a few years ago, I gave it a go and love how it came out! Thank you for your tutorials!
You are so incredibly generous for offering all the tutorials on your channel. After viewing a few, I ordered your Pocket Book of tips and techniques. Many thanks for all you do!
I have so enjoyed watching your videos and ordering from you. I especially enjoy your Plein air outings & getting to see the countryside and your beautiful work at the same time . Maybe one day I’ll get to visit and take a workshop if traveling ever gets back pre covid😩🙏. Until then thank you for sharing!

Happy New Year at you! Great stuff in the whole painting. Viewed right side up or up side down drama so beautifully balanced you can read the flight in to safety. A few drops of storm rain but you stay outside to pray the sailors to safe shore. Beautiful
I can watch these over and over. Your paper angle is so steep yet you just breeze a long with the wet edge yielding to gravity (wash out, squeeze out, mop up). Your style has forced me to carry on with it instead of slowly laboring as I do with oils. Every brushstroke of yours seems so causal but I'm finding out its not as easy as it looks. Thank you for sharing your talent!

Great demo Charles very informative how you created the dramatic sky keeping the depth and colour from your oil reference was masterful I learned a lot. Your skilled camera man ( Gail) excellent work as usual.
Bloody ‘ell Charlie.. what a brilliant talent you have using your techniques for painting. Beautifully strong colours and seascapes bouncing off those art papers... always envoking emotions and adventure with all that you do, i’ve walked almost every little pathway you have painted and stood under almost every tree and loved each one. Just as I did as a kid. You come across as a very wise earthbound weathered sea Captain of days long ago and of course that adds to the adventure, lol. Often wonder if your heritage goes back to those times of the sea !! Wonderful lovely art Charley and very very appreciated. (nz) 👍🔔👍❤️👍
Love this. Wow. Came to your channel because another artist Jenna Rainey gave you a major shout out and link to your channel in one of her recent videos. Love your work.
Charlie, I'm going to take my heart in my mouth to tell you that the wind is filling the sails from the left, yet the flag is being blown from the right ! And I'm not going to bring up the subject of your five bar gates. They can wait for another day. But . . . love your vids, so much learned . . .
Excellent. Love the way you show that it’s practice and skill that make the artist. When I try and reproduce it and it’s not as easy as you make it look I appreciate your skill even more. Thanks and take care!

I read someone said you had died Charles, so happy that isn't true. Love the transparency effect you get from watercolours with the water. When you use oils and acrylics it can get too opaque when white is added too much.
