LOVE seeing the Humminbirds! Unbeatable unit on the ice with Lakemaster chips.
Otter & MrCum are great gear but it’s actually nice to see other products being showcased! Love that
Thats because Eskimo and Bird paid...
Mark Bruzek well I mean that kinda the whole point of patternship. Fishing is 10% fishing & 90% sponsors( kidding but not kidding).
Nothing wrong with getting paid. I'd gladly step in their shoes.
Neal Cyr as most people would. Not try to be cocky but I’ve been offered to show of company’s reels/rods before. Free of rods & reels. Who wouldn’t want that. I told them no thanks. Now hear me out. I love smaller companies! But I won’t be a sell out for something that I don’t approve of you know.
James I took some 3/4 inch plywood, framed in extra 12 inches of height for storage, and hinged lid, with a reapolstered sofa cushion turns into bench seat! Add a clam to top next year!
This the best ice fishing show I have seen on RUclips of in depth outdoors
I have the same Helix unit and love it for the ice. Terrific show.
Thanks Lew Lake!
I always find it amazing how you look like the only ones on the lake. Down here in South Central Minnesota the lakes look like a city
Nice show James and Eric thanks for sharing.
Glad to see you guys using hummingbirds helix and eskimo
Hey James! Great content you have been posting on your channel lately, looking forward for some more videos. I’ve seen you at the Minneapolis/St.Paul ice show a couple times, but next year I plan on going on a shopping spree! Hope to see ya there
You can usually find me in the Rapala booth! I look forward to talking shop.
hah james's reaction is priceless at 7:59
Had my new helix 7 out a few times now and I love it. A- scope is awesome too. Definitely go pick one up guys. Scheels has them on sale right now!
Yet another great show!
Great episode and also happy to see Humminbird as your new sponsor!
We're excited to be fishing with the Helix units. They do everything an ice flasher can do and so much more. A-scope mode is amazing and having Lakemaster maps available at the push of a button has been a major help finding fish.
IDO team! Love from Wisconsin!
Thanks Ryann!
I love how there already talking about mid season and todays the first day ny had safe ice within an hour of me
In depth outdoors!!!!!!!!!
"I'm gonna seed your hole" -James Holst 2020
Garmin should sponsor indepth outdoors. The livescope is awesome and amazing for ice fishing. Would be awesome to see James use it. Btw nice Polaris Titan, been eyeing that baby for awhile now.
2020 Ski doo Expedition LE 600 Etec
Yeah nice show very entertaining
I finally bought one of the fleece jackets yesterday and I am soo excited to use it!!!
If you're talking about the winter weight hoodie I think you'll love it. It's the heaviest, warmest hoodie we've ever found.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV I bought my dad one for christmas cus we've been watching you for years and we're huge fans, and he ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!! So when I got my paycheck I went straight to your website and bought one!😁
@@Buckslayer26 that's awesome. Glad to hear your dad loves his!
I use both Marcum LX-7 and Helix-7 in my portable ice shack, love them both, but its really nice to have the maps. LX-7 for my jigging rod & the Helix-7 for my dead stick bobber, the combination of the two works awesome resulting in me catching more fish.
Not used to seeing the hummingbird but great episode!!!! Starting to get ice on the river up here in northern New York, walleye fishing soon!
Some of our favorite bodies of water are just starting to get safe ice here too. We're hoping to head to Sturgeon Bay to try putting some Giants on the ice soon.
Can’t wait for that episode!!
Sunset lodge is an amazing place been staying there for the last 6 years or so. July cant come fast enough.
Another great episode! I will be on LOTW for the first time in a few weeks for the Snobear migration in Warroad.
I hope the bite is good for you! Don't forget to bring a few ultra-light rippin raps!
Picked a bad time lotw has been shitty all season

We've had really good luck so far this season, just got back home from another day trip on friday. 30+ fish caught. Went home with a 2 man limit.
I am interested in the hard cases you have attached to your snowmobiles. I use my snowmobile on Lake of the Woods towing a portable and I am looking for a hard case to mount on my extended track to carry my electronics and tackle. Thanks!
That's a kolpin outfitter box. www.amazon.com/Kolpin-93450-Outfitter-Box/dp/B005DXNL0A/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=kolpin+outfitter+box&qid=1580155551&sprefix=kolpin+outfitt&sr=8-2
Wohoo!
Another good video. Question: Looking at getting a new locator. Currently have an older LX5 which I will keep. Been a great unit. I was Looking at a FL28 but used one on a guided ice trip. Was not impressed. So now trying to decide between LX7 and the Helix 7 ice? I like the lake mapping on the Helix but I have Navionics on my iPhone which I use often. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks
I'm not a huge fan of navionics mapping. The accuracy just isn't there in my opinion.. I've tried many times using it on my phone and have just not been happy with the results. I have a lot more trust in lakemaster map products as they always seem to be more accurate. That makes the choice between the lx7 and the Helix unit an easy one for me. Add in the ability to move it from boat to ice, the ability to make custom maps on open water and use them out on the ice on my favorite spots and it's an easy decision in my eyes.
Is that Humminbird a good unit to transfer from the boat to the ice cradle? Guess the only other thing is would need would be side scanning.
The helix units are designed to transition from ice to the boat and back again with zero hassles. It is super handy having all our summer waypoints on our winter units.
If marcum fell too far behind the curve, was garmin ever considered as an option? Or did previous use of humminbird products come into play? Would be awesome to see you guys pick apart a lake using livescope/panoptix. Just wondering being that garmin has the same capabilities as the helix and then some.
We considered all options. Our use of Humminbird electronics on our boats in the summer was a key factor in the decision.
Hey, I noticed you guys have been in WI fishing on Winnebago, Poygan, and maybe Petenwell... I’ve had zero luck icefishing big lakes on those. Maybe a couple dinky walleye if I’m lucky, but I use the navionics app, a humminbird helix 7, etc. I got all the tools necessary but can’t find the fish. Any tips? Was just on Winnebago yesterday but absolutely nothing.
I have the marcum m1 flasher should I get the newer hummingbirds flashers or the lx7 marcum
Do you want electronics that can be used on ice and on open water that also includes mapping functionality or are you looking for an ice only unit?
Ice unit only but they both look nice and I just don’t know what one I want
How do you keep your battery charged all day long on your Helix?
1. Turn the screen brightness down.
2. Equip with a good lithium battery.
Is this on the Minnesota side of lake of the woods or the Canadian side? I don’t have a passport and looking to go up there at the end of the month.
Self Sufficient Man Sunset Lodge puts you in both as you want. Ice houses are in MN waters while they have sled rides to Canadian waters for crappies. Regardless, if you want to avoid the border crossing, you can have them pick you up at Wheeler’s Point and drive the lake.
I'd pay to see Will Pharrel and James fishing show....
So would we!
How do you mount those units to your sled??
We used to mount made by Pro fish Enterprises. It bolts on top of the steering column using the existing hardware. Very slick mount.
What rods are you guys using?
Tuned up custom commanders.
Pepsi challenge 😂
Where are the crappie and bluegill videos
It's s long winter. There will be plenty o' panfish vids before the ice goes out.
More flashercam!
No Marcums?
Nope. No more MarCums.
I was wondering the same thing. If they wanted lake maps, I'd expect to see the new RT-9 2.0 in use.
The Helix is is a GEN2 or 3
Gen 3
InDepthOutdoorsTV So why no more Marcum?
@@bazylyzk88 simply put, from a technology standpoint they fell too far behind the competition.
InDepthOutdoorsTV even with the RT-9?
@@bazylyzk88 especially with the RT 9.
To sled.
Like show but half is advertisement from the same sponsors. Do a show with 28 minutes of fishing
No sponsors = no show.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV I know just can you try to do it at the beginning love to see no stop awesome fishing action you guys provide
lol his co angler just has so much too say 😑
