- Hello VT Fam! Today we talk about the next modification for my Jeep Cherokee XJ. For the last year, I have been working on the outside of the Jeep for the most part. However, is about time to start upgrading the interior as well. Starting with the audio system, I decided to get the new Joying 8.8" Single Din head unit, powered by Intel Airmont eight-core 1.8 GHz, and 4 GB of RAM. This device is also packed with TONS of options such as GPS, 4G connectivity, Car Play, steering controls, Etc. To make good use of this Head unit I also bought a new set of 6.5'' JBL GTO 629 Coaxial Speakers to replace the stock ones. Next time we will talk about installation and some of the features of this awesome product.

I went with the Yoti 10.1" single din in my xj and love it! It has everything I was looking for aand was under 300 bucks! The mirror link is the favorite feature. Well that and the backup camera amd the JEEP start up logo
I understand that you need to cut into the air vents to do this mod. Does this mod affect the air conditioning at all?
@@speaktobrett I didnt have to cut any at all with the unit Im running. Its a single din with the 10.1" screen atattched to it so it slides right in the single din dash kit. The screen does sit right at the bottom of the vents but not enough to hurt anything. Wish i could post a pic on here

I got the same speakers set on my xj, they sound great, very clear but I guess I nedd to install an amplifier to help the stereo (alpine 50x4 watts) whit power, when I turn up volume it shut off.
does the speaker fit well? or do you have to modify and make pots on the door? Thanks
I had one and liked it at first then realised how slow the GPS was, also how it would make a weird peep sound every 30sec while playing songs via Bluetooth and after noticing how many times it randomly restarted itself I wished I'd gone for a regular head unit...
Oh also forgot the bezel on them fades and turns bronze over time...
You get what you pay for...
It's not exactly cheap at $500. I'd expect it to be better than you described, so that's too bad. I'll just stick to the regular single din head units.

Definitely man! Motor is very reliable, parts are easy to come by, and a HUGE aftermarket! I got a 4dr 140k miles 4wd sport for $2500 back in March 2019.

3WHISKEY2life I got mine about two years ago for $1k, it’s a great durable Jeep, last of it’s kind. You won’t find yourself with any serious engine or transmission woes. The 242 straight six and AW4 transmission are durable, simple in design, and quite strong. Smaller things with age will need changing but XJ’s are very easy to work on, anyone can. Loads of aftermarket options to make it your own too. No regrets picking mine up.

The 6.2 with no mods, the 7 inch works with a little mod, but its just moving the climate controls where the radio goes and putting the radio in its place so its in the middle. Super easy, just 4 extra screws you gotta move

I called "Crutchfield" they are specialists in audio & video equipment, and have been in the industry since the early 70's I'm old school when it comes to my music & sound quality, talked with Marshall @ Crutchfield and he hooked me up with an awesome sound system for my 95' XJ I've still got a ton of CD's from the early 90's and I wanted to be able to listen to them, I'm not wild about Pandora, Spotfly, and all of the other electronic music apps out there, you just can't get that quality sound like you can from a CD, Navigation Systems are alright if you do a lot of traveling, but I'll take a good Map & Compass over a GPS any day, especially when I'm Overlanding or Trailriding with a group, Good Luck with the installation and I'll be waiting to see the video, my system was pretty simple to install, they sent me the Metra Harness's for all of the speakers & a plug & play harness for the Head Unit, only took about 3-4 hours to install the whole system,
