Thanks man! I've been trying to connect my ipad to my computer/monitor for AGES now I can finally get a bigger screen for my digital art without ruining my eyes even more
Reread what I answered. That is how it is connected to my ipad. The USB Hub connects to the side of my ipad. I use my Smart Keyboard pass through charging to charge my ipad while using it. I do this setup for y video editing and such. If I could attach a pic, I totally would! The speakers and monitor were way less expensive than what I thought they would be, which was a bonus.
@An Y Yeah, I hate that writing back, my answer sounded smarta$$, that was not my intent lol. My two youngest have iPad 10’s and to be honest, those hubs are super cheap on Amazon/Walmart +, etc. My whole setup at my workstation (not including the iPad of course lol), was about $100 (monitor, USB C Hub, speakers, USB flash drives for extra memory, desk chair lol)
Yes, that is similar to the hub I have. Just do a search for ipad lightning hub, and it should bring options back. You just want to confirm the chord that is hanging out/the one that plugs into your child’s ipad is a lightning cable. 🙂
There one thing I’d like to point out: when I connected my iPad to my monitor via HDMI, it didn’t play the sound on videos, as my monitor (as many on the market) hasn’t got speakers incorporated. I used a VGA cord to only reproduce video, and connected some speakers to my iPad by bluetooth Hope it helps someone who thought just a HDMI cord would be enough!
Hello, I am a self trained puppeteer, like Jim Henson. The thing is I have been using the selfie camera. I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my iPad, but I haven’t had a way to connect the iPad to the monitor until now. This video was very helpful, thank you so much.
Hey love the video it rlly helped but quick note if ur seeing this IPad Mini 6/air 4/pro (2018) any of these models and above are usb c and older are lightning along the normal iPad so mini 5/air 3/pro (2017) use lightning
Hi! I have a question. How do you do the opposite . Like see on my tablet whats going on my computer. I need to use tv paint. and it would be easier to use it on my tablet. thanks ahead
Perhaps I dunno much cause I haven’t tried it but this seems only good for watching movies. If you can’t interact with the larger screen without directly interacting with the iPad then it’s a futile second screen. Take an actual PC rig for example. Are there any ways this is actually useful? I actually want to know.
Thank you, Thank you. Finally a video with an easy explanation. I just received an ipad air and keyboard from my Daughter for Christmas. Thought I would RUclips instead of always texting every second for my free tech support at home..lolll
I have the same exact monitor but when I connect my IPad via HDMI..it won’t acknowledge that it’s even connected. I’ve changed HDMI cords, disconnected my ps4 (which connects perfectly) the whole nine yards. I hope its not a shortage somewhere.
I am using an ipad 12.9 pro and connecting it to external monitor with usb-c digital av to ipad and hdmi to monitor but getting a black screen…anyhelp to get this started?
My monitor also has no built in speakers so I am having the audio output issues. Could I plug in USB speakers to my monitor to fix this solution? Rather than getting Bluetooth speakers?
Lets say I don’t have any input for the monitor( not saying I don’t) would I be able to still connect the iPad to the monitor with no other input display for the monitor?( again, not saying I don’t have another input for the monitor)
I want to power my monitor with my iPad, so I do not have to buy another computer, but not necessarily mirrored. I want to use it for the hard drive purposes. Allowing me to use an actual mouse is this possible or do I just need to go buy a whole laptop or iMac
Hey man. Just found your channel. Some great tips, thanks. I need to connect my xlr mic (via scarlet 4i4) and monitor to an iPad. I know how to connect them separately, but how do I do both together? Thanks in advance.
hey man, just a major glaring issue that most people searching for a solution that for some reason youtubers aren't addressing.......SOUND. How do you get the sound to play when connected to HDMI either from the ipad or the monitor speakers?? I have no idea why this is omitted in so many tutorials for this when it is searched and asked for so often. You're using your ipad for video editing, yes? Do you not use sound? Can you please help with this??
I just saw in another video that your iPad should be connected to an external monitor which has inbuilt speakers in order to get sound when you play any media.
@@aircommandslipperz I’m not sure about that but if you won’t use the external screen in the screen mirror mode then the sound might come from the iPad. I haven’t observed this but you can give it a try and see if it works.
Hello @Austin Medz I descovered a small problem with this option. Everything works out fine but I have no Audio. Thats a pretty big Issue consittering I whant to play Call of Duty Mobile on my PC Monitor were Sound/Audio is very important. Would be very nice if you can help me with that one and provide me with some tipps. Anyways take care!
I just saw a video of yours on how to connect the iPad to an external monitor because my son wants to play Roblox on a bigger screen. The question is: when we connect the iPad to the monitor, will the game controls that appear on the iPad screen appear on the monitor as well? Even if he uses the mouse and keyboard to play?
Not sure you will see this but I just got iPad 8th generation for graphics (this was within my university budget) but I don’t know what cable connects with my Lenovo laptop any advice or links is much appreciated. Thanks
I have an external monitor and I mirror the screen of my Ipad Pro 9.7 on it through Apple TV. However, the sound comes out on the TV and not on the interface. How did you manage to use the sound through the interface?
I tried this once with a laptop and the adaptor seemed to require some sort of driver (EZ Cast, or some shit). Do you know what I am talking about? Do all adaptors require this?
Is it possible to turn off the iPad display while using the external monitor? Kind of like converting the iPad into a mini PC / mac mini except it's iPadOS
Ronald McLean I’ve used it in this scenario, with the external monitor as the only ‘lit up’ monitor, and have had no issues with editing both Excel & Word docs with my mouse. No lag when the monitor is attached to the iPad via the HDMI adaptor. I also tried mirroring the iPad to the monitor via Apple TV, but there’s a slight lag that way so went back to the direct connection instead. Hope this helps
Hi Austin, I have a dell screen with no speakers just dedicated soundbar, I have the ipad hooked up but cannot get any audio from this set up I am mainly interested in watching RUclips and DvD’s again have visual no audio, any help would be much appreciated, thanks Steve
@Dhruv Patel [Student] if you have windows, I found this app called Splashtop but I haven’t tried myself. If you have a MacBook past a certain version, you can use Sidecar to use as a second monitor
I don’t understand, the ipad only has one usb port if I’m not mistaken. Yet you have that adapter for the monitor plugged into it already; so how did you connect the Bluetooth dongle for the keyboard????
I’m looking for a good monitor for my iPhone, I tried one today, a 22” Dell HD monitor but it had black bars on all 4 sides - anything I can do about that?

I bought some external speakers and connected them to my 6 port USB hub and it works perfectly. You can get some at Walmart, the ONN brand for $13

Can you open different apps in the two screens like one app in monitor and other in the iPad
I’ve seen if you use the Shiftscreen app you can fill the screen and also have numerous pages on the monitor.... cheers great video..
Do I need iPad Pro? or just regular iPad with iPadOS fine?

Bluetooth I assume

How do you keep your battery from draining on the iPad while doing this?

Is there any way to charge the iPad at the same time the external displays connected?
Mag should solve if it is supported
You can buy hdmi adapters that have the ability for you to charge as well, they are just more pricy
thanks for the vid
Let’s go now I can play on my iPad on keyboard and mouse
No really it doesn’t work that well

try using headphones or a bluetooth speaker maybe?
does this also work with old ipads with lightning ports? instead of type c?
can I just buy a type c to hdmi or does it need to be separate like yours?
