I would like to say that i dont like the word nerfing as an excuse to make the story more appealing. No matter how you look at it. Pickle is a naked man, and he did get his scars from a T rex’s fangs, and if he is faced with a master swordsman with a blade that has unimaginable sharpness, he is going to get cut. In addition, Pickle acts more like an animal, he flees when he is afraid. Just like when he faced jack every time, miyamoto displayed the same fear that made pickle flee Pickle is not nerfed at all, he is just afraid of miyamoto for the person that he is

For hanayama’s case, it was only to buy time for baki to arrive. Sure you may say that hanayama was compared to the strength of a triceratops, however, pickle is not serious, he was having fun. Jack’s fight is the first instance where pickle loses in a more human way. Even when jack was unconscious, he never ate him like any other fighters like retsu or katsumi. Jack reminded pickle of a wasp that he ate and caused him so much pain that he developed a fear whenever a thing is supposedly dead comes back to life. Miyamoto’s case is his killing intent which perhaps rivals or is on par to that of the pain caused by the wasp. Unrelenting will to cause pain. To me, it makes no sense that Hanayama is the guy with the extremely strong bones and Pickle is the guy with extremely tough muscles, it should be the other way around cause we know pickle has that extra thick caveman skeleton.

I must've greatly misunderstood what Miyamoto said then, I thought he said Retsu was as tough as the entire major conflict, in which he also happened to meet sasaki kojiro. As in, he as an opponent was as difficult as the entire conflict happening, and then just later specified that sasaki wasn't really his "legendary rival" but just some decent swordsman he encountered during said major conflict, he was comparing Retsu to.
You did not misunderstand, the author of this Video got quitea few things wrong. See Chapter 66-67. He does indeed say that Retsu was not an easy fight, he likens him to the entire battle of Sekigahara, explaining that just like in that war, any moment he made a misstep might have been his end. After being asked about his fight with Sasaki Kojiro, he notes that it was nothing special, and that there was NO ONE who could be likened to Retsu in his own time. (this might mean in level of skill but also in the odd way that Retsu fights, since he uses hands/feet etc).
Miyamoto wasn't serious at the first time they faced each other but if they faced each other again, lets see, serious Miyamoto vs prep time Motobe is like Batman vs Superman to be honest it is hard to choose the winner here, so you decide

It was the best move in all honesty. Retsu is the only character anyone would care about if killed off. Except maybe Hanayama. The other characters are likable, but not really sad to watch die.

the story could have been so much better if Itagaki had better creativity. Instead of Musashi, we should be seeing both yujiro and baki teaming up agaisnt Yuichiro, and Yuichiro should have been alive and not dead.
That wouldn't really lead to any character or story development honestly. The point of showing little of Yuichiro is that he is a mysterious monster that not even Yujiro knows his true strength. He is a calm and collected man and doesn't fight anyone unless forced to, and even then Yuichiro doesn't reveal any sign of intent to win or defeat his opponent. The small appearance is what made the fan base fall in love with his character and if they're asking for more Yuichiro, Itagaki definitley did good on the story.
Probably the most eh arc in the series yet like it was crazy when retsu got killed off but after that it was just kinda boring especially in the conclusion Thank god for the sumo arc it was like a breath of fresh air after this
Hanayama Kinda sucks now man. Why do writers forget about or leave awesome characters in the rear view. It’s cool that they’re building Katsumi up but he should be Right below Baki level. And Retsu.... Well they did Retsu pretty good towards the end of his road but they could’ve handled him better. Jacks fine, they could give him more wins but that’s fine. Put Pickle back in the front line. Why isn’t pickle fighting the sumo wrestlers. He could replace almost anyone expect Baki and Nomi. And Baki should be training Pickle, he would be a great training partner and Pickle would easily be top 4 if he had Martial Art training especially from Baki. And I think they did Ali JR really dirty 😂😂. Goakie is fine, Katsumi with Retsu’s arm might be close to Baki’s level. Oliva needs to heal and train cause he needs it. And what happened to Gaia and Motobe lol they were savage. And is it just me or does anyone els want a badass fighting chick lol
Baki could’ve killed musashi during their last fight but I understand why they didn’t have him die to Baki. 1 Baki isn’t really a killer and 2 they couldn’t have Baki just over power musashi and finish him. kisuke could’ve done a better job at killing off musashi though

That wouldn't really lead to any character or story development honestly. The point of showing little of Yuichiro is that he is a mysterious monster that not even Yujiro knows his true strength. He is a calm and collected man and doesn't fight anyone unless forced to, and even then Yuichiro doesn't reveal any sign of intent to win or defeat his opponent. The small appearance is what made the fan base fall in love with his character and if they're asking for more Yuichiro, Itagaki definitley did good on the story.

Hanayama Kinda sucks now man. Why do writers forget about or leave awesome characters in the rear view. It’s cool that they’re building Katsumi up but he should be Right below Baki level. And Retsu.... Well they did Retsu pretty good towards the end of his road but they could’ve handled him better. Jacks fine, they could give him more wins but that’s fine. Put Pickle back in the front line. Why isn’t pickle fighting the sumo wrestlers. He could replace almost anyone expect Baki and Nomi. And Baki should be training Pickle, he would be a great training partner and Pickle would easily be top 4 if he had Martial Art training especially from Baki. And I think they did Ali JR really dirty 😂😂. Goakie is fine, Katsumi with Retsu’s arm might be close to Baki’s level. Oliva needs to heal and train cause he needs it. And what happened to Gaia and Motobe lol they were savage. And is it just me or does anyone els want a badass fighting chick lol
