The only things I'm gonna remember : _Katsumi finally getting some chance to show his progress/huge potential with Retsu's arm _Doppo being Doppo (which is always cool since it's Doppo) _Sukune vs Oliva absurd fights _Yujiro's "YOU FAT F*CK" *_JACK* Now really in comparison, it's clearly the less interesting arc so far for me with nothing to tell. Maybe it's a good thing that for once Itagaki listened to his fanbase and dropped the sumo stuff to focus on Jack and co

I really liked this arc, it felt it went a little too long, but now that you can read it in one go, is a great read. Sumo dude was willing to die in the match, and Katsumi dediced against it. My favorite part was the Unchaineds redemption.
The arc felt like Itagaki was really excited over the history of sumo wrestling then lost interest near the end. Also felt like a step down compared to Pickle's and Musashi's arcs.
I think it only really served the purpose of bringing up the other characters up to speed to build up to Jack’s arc before he fights everyone. Breathing room between the Musashi arc and Jack’s arc is understandable imo.

I think the point of the sumo arc was to make sure we know that the regular characters aren't chumps. Because they get shit on in the last 2 arcs i.e. pickle and Musashi. So I think this entire arc was a set-up for Jack's arc because otherwise it would seem like he's fighting roadsid bloaks.
I'm still waiting for Yujiro to do another actual impressive feat(by his own standards) akin to his past self stopping an earthquake. Stopping a harpoon in this arc is nothing by comparison.
Biscuit Oliva is much stronger than Jack Hanma, because jack defeat Sukune not with strength, just with his bites and Sukune throwed Jack to the ground, but Oliver crushed Sukune just with pure brute strength.
This arc wasn't as bad as I thought now that I'm revisiting it. It's kinda weird that the only standout feats we saw were Sukune's diamond, Jack's biting, and Trump being able to tank a punch from a surprised Yujiro
Sumo not giving a f and tanking almost every hit Karate: lands thousands of kicks and punches to knock him down Hanayama: one shots the same dude twice Katsumi: 4000 years of Chinese martial arts plus bitchslapping the poor soul so hard he had to hold back Aiki: used black magic but got overpowered twice by sumo then decided to use non black magic Jack: almost bit his opponent who happened to be strongest sumo guy to death Baki: self explanatory Yujiro: also self explanatory
Although the arc can feel a little disappointing when you realize there basically wasn't a single sumo win, I think the point may have actually been just to showcase the main characters' progress. We got glow-ups from Jack, Katsumi, and even Oliva. We even got to see that the older figures like Goki and Orochi still got it going on. So even though the sumo wrestlers got shit on, the arc as a whole wasn't too hollow considering all the characters that we love were shown progressing. I think this may have been a necessary setup to show us what Jack is gonna be going up against in his own arc, especially considering how Baki was shown as the top dog (and likely Jack's biggest obstacle).
Even though that would be nice with how anything American in the manga/anime seems to get pooped on so we'll have to see how kind the author is gonna be towards Jack.
the usual characters were great. the new one could've been better. forgot how badly doppo beat kehaya. favorite part was probably the hanayama sumo fight.
I still really dislike how they had kehaya get jobbed by doppo, I really liked the dude he was funny and him kicking yujiro through the roof was super cool, only for him to get obliterated in his first fight
Aside from Oliver, this arc was a circle-jerk for the mainstays with no real sense of danger presented by sumo. I think it is time for another full tournament featuring 30+ old and new characters.
