My advice for the second OP, turn an entire bedroom into your cat condo. Start with putting up all kinds of carpet-wrapped shelves, cardboard tubes, like toilet paper and paper towels show up wrapped around, and maybe even put something made out of rope, metal chains, and bars attached to the rafters in the room's ceiling with a patchwork maze of wooden boards, most of the encased in the same carpet as the shelves as well, just to really stick it to the ex.
