    I really like the fact that even though you are the owner of a Harley Davidson dealership, you put out nonbiased reviews that point out both the positive and the negative aspects of the motorcycles featured in your videos.

    Have owned 2 fat boys, 1 heritage, 1 streetglide and currently a nightrod. I did research and watched multiple reviews before buying all of them. This was the best review by far I’ve ever watched. The reviewer comes across as humble, easy to follow and not in your face which makes him more credible to me at least. Thank You for the education sir. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews as my passion for riding continues.

    What I like about your videos is that you are very objective about each test, tons of history behind what you are reviewing, and not trying to just sell a motorcycle. Awesome!!!

    My 2017 Slim S has the ARMY paint job and as an ARMY Veteran, I had to have it! The FatBoy is iconic, but with my leather brown bags and seat gives it that look like the old school WW2 HD. 🤘

    Your an outstanding commentator. All very good points and information about real people. Thank you. I bought a 2016 Fat Boy S about 6 months ago and I really like it. I do wish it could corner better. But it is a muscle bike plain and simple. I ride it back and forth from California to Montana at the Canadian border a few times a year and its 1,400 miles one direction, its been pretty comfortable. The ride could be better but its not bad. A new seat will mostly take care of everything related to the ride. Thanks again.

    Hi Matt, loved the commentary. Some very true insights - I'm new to Harley and indeed did find it surprisingly easy to walk it around, given how heavy it is compared to my old K1300S. I've got a customised Screamin Eagle version Fat Boy S and absolutely love it - you're dead right, it is ideal for low speed poser cruising, yet you can crank it up every now and then and feel the torque. I found the riding position a little strange at first, having come from a sports tourer, and have eased my own comfort by getting a new seat with driver backrest - I'm 6'2" and like you, found more comfort with the seat slightly further back. Thanks again - keep up the good work.

    Sold both my twin cams and picked up a low mileage one owner 98 FLSTF Fatboy that is very factory except for the V&H exhaust and a Mustang seat. I really like the fatboy so far it is lighter and more nimble than other HD's I have owned. I am down to my 72 FLH and this 98 FLSTF now. i don't really see much difference in power between the 98 Evo and the two twin cams I had (01 FLHRCI & 02 FLSTC) I can work on the 98 myself without all the computer junk.

    Harley Davidson considered this bike a bomb dropped on Japan when this bike was introduced to compete with the Japanese imports at the time. The problem with Harley Davidson today as compared to Japan and other foreign imports is Harley Davidson is significantly hampered in exporting these bikes to other countries. Taxes on these bikes are insane, pushing bikes like the FatBoy to as much as $52,000 in Asia.
    It is no wonder Harley Davidson is not doing well outside the US compared to other companies. This is one of the issues that Trump is faced with. American goods are just taxed to hell outside the US and the US Government does not force its leveraging power to control this. This is partly due to the US debt owed to other countries. For example, China holds 1 trillion in US Debt. This greatly reduces US leverage to enforce export power to China. Why in the hell are we so indebted to China? The US sells bonds to other countries to pay for government spending. It is as simple as that. US income taxes can not pay for all the government spending, so the US sells bonds for the balance of the money it needs to run the country. Well, those bonds cost the US more than it's worth. It also cost the US power to leverage exports to other countries; sort of like the strength of your credit report.
    This applies not only to the American auto industry, but is also applies to agricultural goods, steel, heavy industry, weapons, and just about all the major commodities. So when Trump says that he is going to reduce the taxes American pay to the Government, you have to do more than just clap in jubilee. You must then ask the question, how are you going to pay for that tax reduction. Well, the real way to do it is to reduce the public debt, thereby reducing the amount of money the US needs to take from it's citizens for domestic spending.
    I'm not a fan of Harley Davidson, but I do support the USA and our way of life. I just wish we can reduce that debt we owe to foreign countries. It is the key way to strength our economy and increase the value of the dollar.

    • @BFD15i
      @BFD15i 7 лет назад +1

      Don't want to get too political here, but just think twice about your tax-story.. Yes, some countries put on extra-taxes to products from other countries (not only to US-products). BUT the USA do this, as well.
      Ever heard about the chicken-tax? Yes, it is still active for cars, for example.
      I think that Trump's "america first" sounds good at first, but the way he wants to fulfill his promises, sounds very short-minded. It is a very complex topic that can't be discussed (don't even think about "solving" this) in just a few comments or tweets and decrees.

    • @chtomlin
      @chtomlin 7 лет назад +4

      haha, so you think you are more business savvy than Pres Trump, lol. Get a clue Flo B...

    • @benth162
      @benth162 7 лет назад +4

      It is really not all that complex FLOB32. Someone like Donald Trump just needs to make the decision to do what must be done.
      The complexity only arises and demands attention when special interest push the government to subsidize them instead of someone else. In actuality there should be a higher tax on all imports, to force rich corporations to produce their products at home thus facilitating job procurement for the middle class. I am speaking to manufactured good, not fruit and vegetable products purchased in Central and South America. Beef is different as we have more than enough room to grow all the beef we want.
      The middle class cannot have it both ways though. They may want their cake and eat it to, but realistically they cannot. If all jobs came back home, the wages would necessarily need to be lower thus producing goods that the middle class would be able to afford.
      Our society must get out of it consumerism mentality and only purchase those things that we really need instead of all the crap purchased for Christmas and thrown away a year later.

    • @chtomlin
      @chtomlin 7 лет назад +1

      mostly good, but yes, you can have your cake and eat it too.....maybe not so much icing on that cake, but bringing jobs and keeping jobs is critical, thus actually reducing people's wants as they are more occupied.

    • @A-FrameWedge
      @A-FrameWedge 7 лет назад

      Rumple Stiltskin If we get a lot more jobs the wages will go up, supply and demand, the companies will have to pay more to get the good workers because there will be less to choose from.

      I demo'd a Fatboy a few years back. Don't really care for the look, but it turned out to be my favorite riding Harley of the bunch. I didn't even think the shocks were all that bad. Ran over the same crappy bit of road on a new Road Glide and that bike sounded like it was going to rattle apart. The FB soaked it up much better.
      The lack of lean angle was its Achilles' heel. Like Matt, I was grinding boards just making turns on surface streets. Felt really light and nimble as far as it could be leaned though. Replacing the board with some stirrup pegs might give it a little more maneuverability.

    Another great review Matt! I rode one of the Fatboy Low 110 at a demo event I was disappointed in the lean angle. I couldn't even lean a little bit without scraping the floorboards! It is a cool looking bike but it is just a straight up riding bike in my opinion. I also thought the new 108 ran just as good as the 110? It felt that way anyway? Thanks for your reviews and I am not disagreeing with you at all it was just the way I felt about the Fatboy Low. Thanks again and ride safe.

    Zealistic, great review. I'm a lifelong rider on and off, but not for the past 5 years since a bad spill. Friends are encouraging me back into the saddle. I'm between the Fat Boy S and the Fat Bob. The Local club does some intermediate trips and runs. Stocky guy 5' 8" 200 with a 30" inseam. Any suggestion?

    • @MattLaidlaw
      @MattLaidlaw  7 лет назад +2

      The Fatbob is going to be a better handling bike and more fun to ride in the twisties because of the lean angle. You also have more options to upgrade suspension which you might at 200lbs if you're going to do longer rides. The Fat boy S is nice with the punch that the 110 gives you. It's a lot of fun to ride with that power. It seems like at your height the bike will fit you good too. I have a 36 inch inseam and the relationship between the seat and controls is no good for me. It's a tough call man. I don't see an obvious choice with you. The stock ride quality on the Fatbob will be better.

    This was a great review of the bike. You've provided excellent details. I don't have much experience at all but have rode a friend's forty-eight a hand full of times. I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs. Do you think it is possible to safely own this bike as a first bike? I don't think the lean angle would be a huge issue as I live in florida and I don't plan on carving, just casual riding with my father but it does raise a slight concern for me after watching this video. I really want to purchase this bike it looks fantastic and for me, any other bikes ive looked into does not compare in my opinion. Any feedback would be much appreciated. again.....the best review I've seen by far

    I have recently stumbled onto your reviews and love them alot full of info and honesty .... I have also considered a harley for the first time since looking for motercycle .. I came from dirt bikes and 4 wheelers .... also took a 3 day trip with a friends bike and wives on about 850+ miles of riding for the weekend ... we plan one every year ... so my question is .... I'm 6 ft so from what your saying I'm about max on comfort height on this bike ... but I'm looking for a muscle cruiser type bike I like the attitude and look there are a few bikes I have saved on my search list between the fatboy s 2017 the breakout boulevard m109r things of that nature do u recommend the fatboy more so or should I look elsewhere

    Thanks for the video, Matt. I think I meet you about 3 months ago in your store. I already test ride the Fat Boy S in Riverside HD this morning. I really like it. Do you have 0% interest rate and good deal for me? I'm willing to put 50% down of the bike. Let me know.

    you are incorrect about the names of the bombs dropped on japan, on Hiroshima from the Enola Gay was known as "Little Boy". The bomb dropped on Nagasaki three days later was significantly larger and was known as "Fat Boy".

    Fat bob hands down the best Harley for handling cruising and cornering . The only thing better about the fat boy is the bigger tank

    With a aftermarket suspension like legend or shotgun air suspension, wouldn't that significantly increase ride comfort? And with maybe a front suspension upgrade could lean angles increase?

    I don't get it, if you're gonna have fancy shit like keyless ignition then why have a fuel cap that you're gonna have to screw in manually? That's basically like asking for someone who hates loud bikes to steal it from you or to pour some sugar in your tank.
