Lord have mercy, Marvin was a product of his narcissistic father. Marvin was groomed to be a narcissist and definitely, a manic-depressive and psychotic.
Marvin’s father, was a cross dresser, and a very weird and strange, man. And Marvin, had to endure this, behavior, growing up, with his father. I am sure, this, dramatically, effected, Marvin. And, I, am not, in any way, shape or form, making excuses, for Marvin Gaye. Being involved with a child, which is what she was, is wrong and no, he, should not have done, such a, awful thing. But, Marvin, wasn’t, the Only one, into sadistic and cruel things, when it came to how, they treated women, back then. It was sad 😢
Marvin clearly dealt with paranoid schizophrenia and maybe even some bipolar as his family and even colleagues described some very odd behavior for years leading up to Marvin‘s death. He would always walk around the house in a robe with a gun inside the robe pocket thinking someone was after him. Maybe the drugs caused the paranoid behavior. Not to mention the fact that he was deeply impacted by the death of Tammi Terrell. If no one else could make Marvin get a pep in his step the beautiful silly Tammi Terrell could and some even speculated that he was in love with her but of course sources confirmed that nothing ever transpired outside of friendship. Her last wish before her death was to go see Marvin perform and there she sat it the crowd frail, ill, but full of joy as I’m sure she could see herself up on that stage with Marvin as she’d always been. He spotted his girl in the audience and of course Went to her with his mic and they sang together for the very last time. Marvin was the only person from Motown that her family allowed at her funeral. Her family despised Motown but especially David Ruffin
Someone I used to know and love would do drugs and you want to talk about paranoid I would wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water and he would be on his stomach peeking out of a curtain to the back patio where there was nothing back there and years later although I had love for this person, I was informed that he had passed away so I'm sure he never got rid of the addiction and the sad thing about him was that he was truly a very nice person
Yes!! Marvin DEFINITELY was messing with young girls. He impregnated his first wife's niece, with his wife's permission, because his wife wanted a baby and couldn't have children.
Doesn't seem the "stepdad" was too protective...in fact it seems he set it all up...the lady never stood a chance from birth & neither did he...they both had a parent that hated them...hope she has found peace in her older tears
Some of them, but there are exceptions. Stevie Wonder is a musical genius and he has good character and integrity. Marvin Gaye had a lot of issues, but it seems to me that he was also very kind and generous and sincere. His poor mental health made him incomplete.
@@YoungYahtz94 very common all the presidents from back then 1700s 1800s had underage girls as slaves they were messing around with. All the rock & roll singers from the 50s 60s & 70s like Elvis. R. Kelly ain't the only one he was just the only dumb one to record videos of it
@KissKiss Tatum its still going til this day it just depend on who the person is. Jay-Z had Rhianna in his 30s she was 17, kodak, tekashi got caught with underage girls. It really don't matter unless u R. KELLY seem like it
If this information is true what a sick individual Marvin was. I guess ain’t nothing changed but the weather. A grown man with an underage child , yes 17 is a child. Yuck...
@Apollo Mayaimi no I get it but people also got married earlier my grandmothers was 17 and my grandfather was 21 when they got married and started having a family. Same with my mom and day he met her when she was 17 and he was 22 been together for 39 years married for 31 years, so I get it.
Dont be the man or woman who is used to break up a marriage...no matter what state the marriage is. If you know the person you are dating/want to date is married, move on to a single person. Keep that negative drama away from your life.
I can amagine a grown ass 35 yr old playing mind games with a kid..he knew he had the upper hand and thats why most guys pick young girls so that they can control them and their mind...
This is such a wild story it leaves me with so many thoughts. He was a very handsome man but he had so many demons. My mom used to say "I brought you into this world and I can take you out". I always thought about Marvin when she said that. Thanks for sharing this, I did not know any of this.
The fact that you thought about Marvin when your mother would make that statement. The only word in my head is "wow". Thank YOU for watching this. I love sharing this information with people who are new to it. Thank you so much for your comment, Jasmine Nothanks!
As the story goes he started seeing her when she was around. 14 or 15. I had the pleasure of meeting the then bodyguard of Marvin and in his words at 14 she was hanging out with him in the studio all hours of the night. It's sad she endured the trauma she did so early because her parents were losers. Sounds like she may have even been apart of a system to prepare children for abuse. To have power like Marvin did it isn't far fetched he may have been involved in some of these secret society's.
@@jameelthompkins7835 this is why nothing is ever done with predictors, folks are always going to justify the situation. The bottom line is she was underage. What I don’t understand is why mothers turn a blind eye.

@@MsBee-nj9kp I thought I was the only person, who admittedly felt this way. I've read a few books regarding his life. But, I still can not find a path to having sympathy for him. Especially in his earlier years at Motown, calling little Stevie Wonder a "little blind sucker" All because Stevie was ahead of him, to go on stage. I felt that was so mean and nasty of him to say. As a full grown man, up against a blind boy. Shame on him. All my compassion and sympathy goes to his late mother. That woman endured a whole lot!!!
@@rashaadbrown175 ..This ia all true. This information has been out there for 40 years both in articles and other biographies on Marvin Gaye.Jan just decided to confirm it in her book

That's funny! Because no lie, I kept thinking about Super Freak, but thinking about Janis's mother as the lyrics were playing in my head, MsJerseyd - THC!
It's amazing what stars were able to get away with back in the day before social media. Their indiscretions were fiercely guarded and protected. Every now and then you would hear rumors, but only the really bad stories broke into mainstream media and that was rare. Celebrities had the allure of mystery because what they did offstage or offscreen was left to the imagination. As a child of the early 70s, I liked it better back then. The good thing for today's world is that predators are outted faster because of social media.
I understand what you're saying. I was born in the mid 70's and I liked thinking that celebrities were larger than life and mysterious. As an adult, I like knowing that they are just regular people with extraordinary talent. Some of them are good people and some are horrible. Thank you for commenting, Jazzy Moni!

In Janis' book with David Ritz, she talked about Marvin Gaye's insecurities and stage fright. He turned down A LOT of opportunities to make money. One minute he would accept a gig and then weeks later would turn it down. He knew he was gifted but he was also afraid of not being accepted. He put her through a great deal of ish!

After all the horrible things you have learned about Rick James life, this makes Rick seem like a saint compared to Marvin.
Janis wasn't the first young girl he courted, let's not exclude Bianca Lawson's mom (Denise Gordy) who had that child (Marvin III) he was raising with Anna.

Marvin was a drug addict with some depressive episodes. He wasn't a schizophrenic.
Or maybe, just maybe, Marvin Gaye was evil. * blank stare *

Some of them, but there are exceptions. Stevie Wonder is a musical genius and he has good character and integrity. Marvin Gaye had a lot of issues, but it seems to me that he was also very kind and generous and sincere. His poor mental health made him incomplete.

Denise Williams.....my first crush🤩🤩 as a young man! "Silly"...still love this song 'til this day! And, of course, Denise still looks awesome!
She was and still is beautiful. I love that song and have always been a fan of her voice. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, B Mdx!

My pleasure! I enjoy watching your vids! You have a great voice for narration, as well as love your comments and sense of humor!
After watching your vids, I've learned a lot of unknown info on a variety of artists such as, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, and especially Bobby Womack. I grew up reading/learning about them, but didn't know all of the 'details'...so what you share is definitely informative.
Yes, Denise Williams and Vanessa Williams were the first 2 women I had a crush on (despite the Penthouse scandal with Vanessa).
I saw the pics of her as I got older and just wondered 'why'?...or assumed about her preference. However, when I saw her on Oprah's show, finally, I understood why.
What's funny about Denise, I loved "Silly", as a young man but had no clue what is was about! I loved her voice but mostly the arrangement of the music! It's truly amazing how we can enjoy so many different things and Not truly understand the messages that are hidden! (TV shows, music, music vids, etc).
Thanks for taking the time to respond directly to me....you're awesome! And yes, I am a subscriber!

Keep in touch and look forward to your next vid!
Let’s Hear It For The Boy
Wow, this was kinda of depressing!
@Frederick Wells Right, some shit should be just left alone. Smh !
I knew Janice from Jr.High thru High School in Jr High she was a very shy girl she was very nice when I would consider her a friend
What part of LA?
I have watched many many documentaries about different celebrities and their life styles, but this one has shocked me beyond
anything I have ever seen. All I can say is WHOOOAAA!!!!, what a revelation to truth. I would have never imagined in my wildest
dreams that any of this was true about Marvin Gaye's true life. Astonished, just completely astonished what I have learned here.
I have to admit I knew very little about Marvin's personal life, but this just blew me away. It makes you look at how he died a little
differently doesn't it. And of all people who you would guess would help her, Rick James, whoooaaa I mean whoooaaa!!!!
After all the horrible things you have learned about Rick James life, this makes Rick seem like a saint compared to Marvin.
Wow very interesting I’m so glad Jan overcame obstacles that meant to destroy her keep up the good work ti!
Yes! I'm with you. I'm glad that it was a good ending for Jan. Thank you. I will do my best to keep up the good work, ndorsey1969able!
Janis wasn't the first young girl he courted, let's not exclude Bianca Lawson's mom (Denise Gordy) who had that child (Marvin III) he was raising with Anna.
Thank you for sharing this story. It made sense to me.
Hi Oum Su! Thank you for watching.
It is so sad that a Black man could try to destroy such a very young , innocent ,and sensitive young Black female.
I question if he truly loved her or if he only saw her as asexual conquest .
One would think that he would love her and give her the security that she needed after what she has endured .
So sad of a story.
Wow, that moment when you stop feeling bad because your not alone 👏
