I’m 29… been diagnosed with diabetes type two. High sugars, high A12, high blood pressure…. I usually eat healthy but 2 years of poor diet has pushed me over the edge… now I got a journey ahead and I don’t know if I’ll win this fight

On 9/19/2023 I was diagnosed with DM2 with hgb A1C of 11.8, they put me on metaglip (metformin 500mg + glipizide 2mg) all in one pill, I took this for 2 weeks and it made me ill, my glucose level was always dipping, lowest I've gotten to was 48 and slumped down to the floor in the middle of costco, I took myself off of it and went plant base diet ... by 12/12/2023 I went to lab to draw update hgb A1C and it went down to 6.1 ... never going back to metaglip again ...

Reversed insulin resistance in 3 months on low carb/no sugar. Was strict. Since have found safe sweets, Swerve sweetener, eating more protein, taking fiber daily, green powder drinks in almond milk. Lots of great recipes on RUclips. I cook up batches of foods and freeze. A1C is little up but manageable. You can do this! Ahna 👏👏👏😃

A small reminder - if those sweet potatoes are hard to come by - you can use ordinary potatoes - but boil them and then put them over night in the fridge, and warm them up gently in cubes in a pan with healthy fat, but don't give them a brown crust. So my mom has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, but she’s used to eating rice & bread. Are there any different kinds of rice & bread she can still eat or should she avoid these altogether?
Avoid these until the A1c test is lower then swap rice for ‘cauliflower rice’ and look for a low carb bread (I can only find bread with 10 carbs per slice) I stick to 30g of carb a day and I have reversed my diabetes. My treat is one slice of bread and an egg for breakfast, also I dip celery into peanut butter as an extra treat.
Good advice. It would be great if you had a shopping list at the end of it. Also to carryover foods, for example if I made salmon on Monday for dinner, I could have it on Wednesday for breakfast or lunch. And therefore, I only need to cook it at one time or reheat it. Same things with the salad or anything else like that. But I think first and foremost, a shopping list would be great, something we can shoot and take with us to the store. Thank you.
It's a delightful treat that doesn't need any fussing in the kitchen. One of the best peanut butter out there- Alpino's peanut butter, whether it is natural or chocolate-flavored, is the best!

@godbless7210 I realised no grains is not good for reversing type 2 bcoz grains legumes fruits and vegetables contain good amount of fiber which can effectively lower hba1c...so try to find out low gi fruits and veggies which suits you ..grains can have in small quantities together with fibrous veggies and fruits..can have chicken in moderation for protein and daily exercise..walking is not enough..

i’m sorry but out of this 7 day diet so many things i can’t eat due to allergies like i am not able to eat fish/shrip and can’t eat mushrooms. myself i really don’t have a appetite till around noon time so topical lunch for me is vegetable and cheese quesadilla or a turkey and cheese sandwich always provolone cheese, and oven, roasted turkey breast and not the processed for dinner is a lean cut of steak, usually seared and in slow cooked in my air fryer oven with broccoli and it all depends on my mood whether it’s sweet potato homemade mashed potatoes or a baked potato, typically a red potato not too big in size or homemade chicken tacos or beef taco or roasted chicken breast with broccoli and homemade stuffing or mashed potato. I make my own bread homemade so I know exactly what’s in it. Another option that I do is a pasta and sauce I make my own homemade sauce and when I have the time pasta, so I know exactly what’s in it I know this is an ideal for a diabetic but I must be doing something right to have an A1c of 6.5 At 46 years old, I would like to get it lower and it’s typically during the winter months that I see the spike up to about 6.8, but then drops come spring summertime when I’m out and about and getting more exercise

I can't have three example salad meat I have to cut it in half or my blood sugars spike I can have all what your saying only pick one and mix a little meat or nuts and I can't snack or blood sugars spike..I have lentils. .I just can't eat 3 items ..or my blood sugars spike .. Question: Now that I know that diabetes oftentimes leads to kidney disease, why is so much protein at every meal promoted as part of a diabetes diet, i.e. eggs, yogurt, chicken, cottage cheese, salmon, tofu, etc? Too much protein promotes and exacerbates issues with the kidneys, is my understanding. It was suggested that I should ingest only 65 to 80 grams of mostly plant-based protein per day, which really makes most diabetes menu plans unrealistic for me. I have not been told I have kidney disease (yet), but it looks like I could have it. Can you provide input on this? Thank you.

I stayed with complex carbohydrates, increased vegetables and fruits, and eliminated all meat. Never felt better!

I eat fruit, brown rice, oatmeal and peanutbutter, popcorn almost everyday.
I do indeed, appreciate all that you say, and all that you do. One thing I would like you to be aware of though, is that we are not diabetics, we are people with diabetes. Perhaps that isn’t important to many people but it’s kind of like being called a leper, it just grates against me.
Perfect 7-day diabetic meals. I will try it though I am not yet diabetic.

So my mom has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, but she’s used to eating rice & bread. Are there any different kinds of rice & bread she can still eat or should she avoid these altogether?
Avoid these until the A1c test is lower then swap rice for ‘cauliflower rice’ and look for a low carb bread (I can only find bread with 10 carbs per slice) I stick to 30g of carb a day and I have reversed my diabetes. My treat is one slice of bread and an egg for breakfast, also I dip celery into peanut butter as an extra treat.
Good advice. It would be great if you had a shopping list at the end of it. Also to carryover foods, for example if I made salmon on Monday for dinner, I could have it on Wednesday for breakfast or lunch. And therefore, I only need to cook it at one time or reheat it. Same things with the salad or anything else like that. But I think first and foremost, a shopping list would be great, something we can shoot and take with us to the store. Thank you.
It's a delightful treat that doesn't need any fussing in the kitchen. One of the best peanut butter out there- Alpino's peanut butter, whether it is natural or chocolate-flavored, is the best!

I don't use Splenda but now Splenda makes sweeteners using monk fruit and stevia. It's become a brand name with a variety of different sweeteners.

Saying no to grains ..minimum lentils and more protein i got my leveks back from 7.4 to 5.6

@godbless7210 I realised no grains is not good for reversing type 2 bcoz grains legumes fruits and vegetables contain good amount of fiber which can effectively lower hba1c...so try to find out low gi fruits and veggies which suits you ..grains can have in small quantities together with fibrous veggies and fruits..can have chicken in moderation for protein and daily exercise..walking is not enough..

i’m sorry but out of this 7 day diet so many things i can’t eat due to allergies like i am not able to eat fish/shrip and can’t eat mushrooms. myself i really don’t have a appetite till around noon time so topical lunch for me is vegetable and cheese quesadilla or a turkey and cheese sandwich always provolone cheese, and oven, roasted turkey breast and not the processed for dinner is a lean cut of steak, usually seared and in slow cooked in my air fryer oven with broccoli and it all depends on my mood whether it’s sweet potato homemade mashed potatoes or a baked potato, typically a red potato not too big in size or homemade chicken tacos or beef taco or roasted chicken breast with broccoli and homemade stuffing or mashed potato. I make my own bread homemade so I know exactly what’s in it. Another option that I do is a pasta and sauce I make my own homemade sauce and when I have the time pasta, so I know exactly what’s in it I know this is an ideal for a diabetic but I must be doing something right to have an A1c of 6.5 At 46 years old, I would like to get it lower and it’s typically during the winter months that I see the spike up to about 6.8, but then drops come spring summertime when I’m out and about and getting more exercise
Potato has a higher glycemic index than white rice so avoid potatoes.

I can't have three example salad meat I have to cut it in half or my blood sugars spike I can have all what your saying only pick one and mix a little meat or nuts and I can't snack or blood sugars spike..I have lentils. .I just can't eat 3 items ..or my blood sugars spike .. Sounds great..but need your help with jardiance has caused me to have severe UTI and now has created problems with my incontinence and I need a inexpensive alternative to Jardiance to lower my blood sugar..would going back on glimniperide work it helped me immensely and now my blood sugar level is standing at 180 every morning and knight it's stands at 170..please advise me so I can talk with my diabetic Dr. Thanks for listening to me..by the way I watch all your episodes and have learned allot of new things I never knew or was explained about..again thank you..

Sams club sells low carb Sarah Lee thin Sliced wheat bread. Each slice is 45 cal, I forget carbs but it is quite low.
Question: Now that I know that diabetes oftentimes leads to kidney disease, why is so much protein at every meal promoted as part of a diabetes diet, i.e. eggs, yogurt, chicken, cottage cheese, salmon, tofu, etc? Too much protein promotes and exacerbates issues with the kidneys, is my understanding. It was suggested that I should ingest only 65 to 80 grams of mostly plant-based protein per day, which really makes most diabetes menu plans unrealistic for me. I have not been told I have kidney disease (yet), but it looks like I could have it. Can you provide input on this? Thank you.
