Yep. Entertainment Gold. How much do I love these 3 guys for the laughs over the years? A: So much. Seriously, I just listen, laugh and marvel. Thanks for making my night Dana and David.
Love Mike Judge. I've heard him tell most of these stories on Letterman over the years, but I absolutely don't mind hearing them again. Mike seemed to get as big a kick out of Dana and Spade imitating Lorne, as they do when he does Hank Hill or Beavis.
Here is my story: 1999 and I’m working at a branch of Sierra On-Line the gaming company in Renton,WA. The company lays of just about everyone. They are sorry and give us movie tickets (?). In the same area is a theater so 4-5 of us go and watch Office Space. We knew nothing about it. Then we are watching other cubical workers that look like ours with a boss like ours and then the building is burned down and we looked at each other, smiling. The perfect recently fired audience for this movie! (No, we did not burn the office down)
I love this! As an outcast "intellectual nerd" who graduated from HS in 1986 I needed someone to look down on and make fun of the last couple of years of HS, so I would see the "head banger burnouts" and for some reason one day I decided to yell "Rock and Roll! Motley Crue dude!" and slam my forehead with "devil horns" hand sign to mock them but they did not get the sarcasm and were like "Dude, you like the Crue? That's awesome!" and were sort of accepting to me and tried to talk Metal with me so I felt bad and actually did start listening to some metal stuff and found some I liked that I could talk about. Meanwhile my nerdy freinds started mocking them as I had started to so the nerds and the headbanger became friendly if not really friends.
Let's never forget Ren & Stimpy was out there back then too. What a radical vision that was. TV changed a lot at that time with all of these edgy animation.
After college during the filming of Idiocracy, there were fliers in diners and random places posted all over Austin. I remember they had an open casting call for tall Hispanic/Mexican men. At the time, I was so focused on my work (I was a political grassroots organizer). That I read the flier thought about it for 2 seconds and threw it away. That’s one of my flaws I tend to have tunnel vision. When I’m working on attaining a goal. But I’m learning to be fluid like water (Bruce Lee quote). When the movie came out, I liked it but didn’t fall in love with it. Some of the characters were too extreme in their Idiocracies…I had no idea what this country would become after years of Fox news and the Trump propaganda machine. Now in 2023, idiocracy is such a genius movie. People keep getting dumber, they wear Crocs now like they’re actual shoes. So that’s one of my life regrets not answering a casting call for Idiocracy. Dax Shepard was super annoying (again, I liked the movie but didn’t love it)….but now in 2023. Or all clicks or all makes sense….Mike Judge is a genius. (Who knows, maybe if I had answered the casting call. I wouldn’t of gotten cast. But I’m pretty tell for a Mexican/Hispanic guy…5’11. That being said. Be open minded you never know what kind of doors life will open for you.
OMG.. there's a guy that does house cleaning on RUclips (Midwest Magic Cleaning) that does an incredible impression of both Beavis AND Butthead.. 2 of my favorite characters of all time.. and King of the Hill. Mike Judge is so good with voices!! 😁
Office Space's marketing sucked. I went to the theaters almost weekly in the late 90s. It could have done much better at the BO if it had a decent trailer, a better poster and a more exposure.
So the Catfish full length movie loosely based on the hit MTV show is a good idea. The think tank on funny ideas for the director Mike Judge is being scheduled and held slumwhere. Dial # 555-5555
The Video Toaster was the most powerful video production system you could get for NTSC video. It was so ahead of it's time it was truly stunning. The scrolling of the Amiga and Toaster was so smooth it put everything else to shame. The Amiga and Toaster were revolutionary.
The funniest scene I ever saw: the "Silicon Valley" episode where they're at 'Tech-Disrupt' and everyone is sure they'll lose; one character makes an offhand comment, "the only way we could win is if we gave hand jobs to all 800 guys in the audience"...and the rest of them, being engineers at heart, proceed to go into great detail with equations, formulas & graphs on the whiteboard, to figure out exactly HOW you could give 800 hand jobs in the shortest amount of time.

I think I read when Mike signed his first deal with MTV he got 25 thousand dollars but they got all rights to any merchandise from Beavis and Butthead. Once it blew up that merch was EVERYWHERE. Of course he did ok since but man.
I was wondering how the hell a talk show with Dana Carvey and David Spade has so few views... Then I see this channel is brand spankin new! I think once the word gets out this channel is going to explode. I will say though... there's a lot of talking over one another. It's easy to get excited and want to add something, but it got distracting at parts.
Late 2024 and still only 41k 'views'. Gotta be because, there's nothing to view. Mike Judge loses a lot when we're reduced to just listening instead of watching him. He cracks me up watching his thought processes.
Dana, if you still think it's hard to find a great movie, then check out international ones. I've been hooked on movies from Korea, Poland, Turkey, etc. They are soooo good! Like, "Battleship Island" rocked my world. It's a Korean film about Japanese occupation of their country and just the horror of how the Korean people were treated by their captors before WWII and the Korean War. But you don't see much about it, of course, with American films. Truly some fantastic stories still out there.
My only criticism is let Mike talk. I know it's a podcast but he seems to be cut off frequently instead of giving out great info. Great podcast though!

Mike Judge is a true original.
"I know what my paperboy looks like and you ain't him." LOL
Mike Judge is ALWAYS an interesting listen. A smart guy that plays the game on his own terms.
I love it when Dana and the other fella Beavis and butthead laugh at Mike
11:50
KATE MOSS: “Heh-heh. Give it.”
MIKE JUDGE: “Yeah, these models, they’re not entitled at all.”
Yep. Entertainment Gold.

A: So much.

Thanks for making my night Dana and David.
P
16:10 There's an episode where B&B go to an art museum with Mr Van Drissen, Beavis takes a close look at one of the faces and promptly farts
Snnnnnnnnes Drunk! 😆
Absolutely love this Podcast! Dana and Spade are like two peas in a pod!!....LOL.
So is David and Carvey.
O my gosh love mike judge a great talent Dana and David awesome interview kudos to u guys😁🇨🇦🇨🇦
Every episode has been very interesting and entertaining. Great guests and keep em coming.
I saw you at Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation in the early 90’s
Was such a great time in my life
OMG Dana's impression of Lorne, "we needed the fucking Pacer like yesterday" lol
I loved every second of this podcast!
The Milton shorts on SNL reminded me of Squigglevision (Dr. Katz, Home Movies).
That paperboy story is GOLD
Love Mike Judge. I've heard him tell most of these stories on Letterman over the years, but I absolutely don't mind hearing them again. Mike seemed to get as big a kick out of Dana and Spade imitating Lorne, as they do when he does Hank Hill or Beavis.
"I love Basquiat"
"He's on next week"
That really got me
"Our fans are mostly animators"
Yeah, the best lines come quick and almost as an afterthought , as far as ones that really get me.

Mike judge is the GOAT.
LOVE this episode.

That is a great story, sounds like the beginning of a teen movie from the 80s (of course)
80s movies are my guilty pleasure! ❤

Ren and Stimpy was tremendous..I tried to show it to as many people as possible

It all comes down to paintings, and planes. Good one. Pirate or Cowboy, as well.

No way, I know the Jenisons, went to school with Tim's daughter. The video toaster! Tim's a big collector of antique electronics, very cool family!

Love the Beavis and Butthead episode where Spade (voice) played the candy bar school guy. Manners guy too.
Classic episode!
Hello. My name is Beavis. I'll be your waiter. May I take your order, please? We're waiting!
Mike sounds a little like Hunter S Thompson 💜
I hear Mike Judge, but see Hunter S Thompson
Keep up the good work Mike!! 👏

Yes!
Animator and big fan of all three of ya.
Everybody knows that Elton John song goes "Hold me closer, Tony Danza..."

Mike Judge,very cool
It took 11 minutes to get to a Lorne impression, pretty sure thats the longest a Fly on the Wall has played without one.
34:36 paper route to Hank Hill

Fight Club, American Beauty, and Office Space all came out in the same year...
So funny... hearing Mike Judge or Brian Baumgartner speak is like hearing Butthead or Kevin Malone on magical genius pills.
Or... before the accident.
Here's a good one:
Never accept cookies in prison.
39:00
A cookie is a text file. You already accepted a text file by viewing the "will you accept a cookie" message. It's an insane clownworld catch-22.

As much as I enjoy Carvey and Spade, you nailed their issue. Two kids off their Ritalin doing interviews is like herding cats.
Manners Suck! Spade kiilled in that role.
Dear Dana and Dave. Never mind.
Jeez, who let go at 26:52? Not a word said.
Did you guys talk about Idiocracy?
I didn’t hear it either. Would have liked to get their reaction to Mike talking about what happening with the release and marketing of that movie.
Muttley laughed all the time, from Dick Dastardly.
When Mike was talking about that camp movie was he talking about American Pie? Or maybe Accepted?
OMG solo good, i'm lirerally in love with this podcast,
Love king of the hill

Dana, tnx for smothering the interview with dorky comments like Post Modern, Basquiat, Van Gogh, and Picasso. It's a funny cartoon ffs.
yup
I wonder if mike judge would find my movie “desert story” impressive
Forgot spade was on beavis and butthead
When spade fought the gym teacher and called him soldier boy still makes me laugh thinking about it
😂
accept cookies is irritating when you want to fact check something or learn new things I need to learn without being spied on

Just let Mike talk, the constant interrupting and trying to be funny all the time makes this one really hard to listen.
