As an owner of both a AUDI S1 & a BMW M140i I can relate to you. Chasing ownership of the perfect car may be unattainable. Enjoy the ownership and the journey.
I've thought about changing my m140i a few times but I just can't seem to find anything out there around the same price that's an "upgrade" in my eyes. It really is an absolute bargain for what you're getting. So i've decided to go stage 2 😂 bought myself the underbody brace, subframe inserts and a sports cat 👌
The issue with full fat M cars, isn't buying them, it's running them.
I could have just about stretched to an early high mileage M2, but everything cost 3 times the price of an M-lite.
So, 2 grand spent on tuning an M140i, which only cost 20 grand, and I have a 455bhp/634nm hatch which won't corner like an M car, but it will be as fast (faster than many) on a straight.
And it costs me about a 1/3rd of the running costs :-)
The M140i is the top though, if you want a hot hatch BMW then there isn’t an M1 to buy 🤔

I get you but when they are known as a Mlite it kind of makes me think different of them even though it’s a cracking car they 100% should of called it an M1 🙌🏻
Well done James, my R went for a larger family wagon and many a car and bike has gone in the past for house purchases or business opportunities. I sold my 330d M sport to go to a 116d company car, then bought an ex fleet Mondeo to start a business! Keep up the good work, going backwards is often needed to take a bigger step forwards! 👍👊💪
This ^ Sounds like your head is screwed on ! I started off in a mini cooper S , then went to an F - Type V6. Sold it and im now in a 110k 07 plate mini cooper D . Like you said sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward, now im securing my first home with the intention of buying a second home next year on a BTL mortgage with the goal of building a property portfolio. Im not going to lie and say it was easy because switching from an F-Type to an old mini has certainly humbled me. Cars come and go but what you want to achieve takes precedence over everything. Good luck with your business mate ! Takes courage and guts to keep one afloat.

Got an m235i and can relate to your m car dilemma. Often see m2s and think yeah nice but prefer my m235 Suspension comfortable for daily driving and unless you take it to a track and m lite is all the car you'll ever need on these UK roads.
With adaptive suspension it's much stiffer. Comfort it's good but put it in sport+ and you feel every bump in the road.

Stage 3 golf r is a weapon💥 the shit box isn’t the best to be in but the money saving is nice😁😅

I’d suggest going for a modern classic next . Something usable but unlikely to lose value and perhaps even appreciate. Plenty of used performance parts available and a much safer place to leave your money

This is why I bought the m2 3 years ago I didn’t want to be driving down the road in a 240i/235i and see an m2 and think man wish I had that. I wanted to have the best model of what I was buying because I know what I’m like and will end up regretting it. And before anyone says it I know the 240i is as fast but it has nothing on the looks and road presence of the M2.
So you were in positive equity and sold it while used car prices are high. I'm also tempted.

Glad I got an M140i xdrive. Usable in every weather situation and drives much sharper then the rwd version. With some upgrades steering should come close to a full M car.

I wouldn't bother getting held up on the M car stuff. At the end of the day they is no 1 series m car. Also an mlite is actually quicker than an m2 and actually even slightly quicker than an m3 and m4. Maybe not as good in the corners but suspension can handle that. As far as lap time difference compared to actually cost the m lite is an absolute bargain and it beats everything else in its class. The last rwd 6 cylinder hatch they'll ever be they'll hold their value well i reckon
Ohh definitely as far as hot hatches go it’s no joke of a car 6pot RWD it truly is a good car and in the time I had mine the part ex price went up by 2k I can imagine the years to come people are gonna be looking for them 🙌🏻

at the end of the day its only a 1 series so its the bottom of the bmw the only thing is that n55 are b58 engine

@@jamesr50 yes awesome car the M3, everyday use on Uk roads, no not ideal as a daily, also I never got on with the DCT, even after 2.5 years as I felt I was not connected to the car, maybe I should of got a manual M3.

I've driven this car and I must say apart from the lovely engine, the feel of the car just isn't there for me. doesnt have much engagement. the handling and feedback you get is quite numb. just my personal experience. good luck with the channel mate, keep it up love your content.
