Very good, honest, and genuine review.
The people who slag these off, are comparing them to M2/M4/RS3/A45s which is unreal as those cost twice or three times as much.
Had mine a year and a half, and it is by far the best daily do-it-all I have had.
All the mods you talk about are great, but think carefully, because turning it into a sharper handling, trackday toy, will ruin it as a daily.
Mine is stock, with a remap to 411bhp/576nm, and it is everything I need. Still very comfy for the 95% of the time I am trundling around with the wife in the passenger seat (mine has adaptive suspension), but enough power to shock M2's, RS3's, and A45s once I'm rolling (obviously I get destroyed from a standing start).
B58 is a motor out the box, can’t go wrong 👌🏾

Great review, having owned one for a year l have to agree with you. I swopped my C63 coupe (6.2, needed 4 doors) for one and wasn’t disappointed at all and it’s definitely a car l would buy again - they are a great all rounder !
Had mine for 18 months now and still love it.

Lsd has to be top of the list for mods.

Had mine for just under a year now. I got it to 470BHP 6 months ago. You will fall in love with it like it’s brand new once you go down that route your self. Well worth the money :D

Nice video.Id recommend a B12 pro kit suspension upgrade, makes a great difference to the slightly vague and wayward handling. Cost/benefit analysis..No brainier, Weyeyeman 👍🏻

I have a fully loaded 440i with MPPSK. Get one and you wont regret it. S4 aint RWD so not as much fun. Toys and MPPSK are a must. All the best.

@@evilchimp95 Yea. So like in Eco Pro its behaves like a 420D and the gearbox is nice and smooth. I even managed 42mpg in it. Comfort is calm aswell. and you guessed it, sports or sports+ its like a wild animal.

I’ve had mine for 18 months. It’s a great little car when you weigh up the performance vs. running costs vs. practicality. It’ll be a tough little car to replace when the time comes. Servicing for me is cheap as chips with the £300 service pack.
Worst bit is once you start fiddling, it’s a slippery slope! 😂. The underbody brace is cheap from Williams Performance and does make a difference.

Also had my manual M140i for 6 months. Agree about pro nav & HK audio, must haves in my opinion. I don’t have adaptive suspension, but a set of Bilstein B8 dampers sorted my ride & handling out. With regards to tax, manual is more money due to less MPG at higher motorway speeds.

I went stage 1.stage 2.then got the xhp tune. For me it's not worth the 300 pound. The gear changes are alot faster but that's all I've noticed.
The harmon option is great for the cost

Have you thought about lowering springs. I installed both a strut brace and springs on my pre LCI 1 series and now the car feels planted as anything. I also have a K brace in the boot and it just helps the car round corners so much, no need for a full cage to be honest.
I have some fella, just haven't fitted them yet because I'm lazy 😅
Good to know though. I think a k-brace will be the next purchase. I'm guessing you don't need to remove/drop the back seats to fit them either which is another benefit I suppose.

Had mine for almost 2 years after trading in a gt86, to be honest I miss the driving experience of the 86.

Xhp is one of my favourite mods...I would highly recommend it

How do you compare the handling and feel against the GT86 you owned? Would you take the 140i or the new recently announced Subaru 2022? :)
Honestly? If I were to take either the M140i or the GT86 for a blast on a B Road, I'd take the GT86. It has to be the best chassis for the price in 20-30 years (not that I've drove every car to compare it with, but it is just that good).
I really want to get another 86 in the future and use it to get some seat time at a track. Nowhere near as expensive to run and I can fix pretty much anything on them now.
Would love you see you go BM3 stage 2 and XHP stage 3! Please do it!! :)

@@lookship There is a compelling argument that documenting your modding journey on YT will gain you a whole new segment of modding enthusiast subscribers (of which there are many!) and would take your channel to a whole new level and therefore fund the central heating! I'm saving up and deciding on the M140i or an M2 but I'm a bit resitant to think what the M2 would cost to maintain... Do you or anyone know if there's a big difference in between the 2 or are the running costs pretty similar because it's just the fact that they're BMW's?
If it's an OG M2 I reckon the running costs would be closer to the M135i that the M140i. Near enough the same engine in the 2.

How is it without an LSD?
Fine mate i've got goodyear eagle f1 asy 5 tyres on 235 up front and 255 at the back and it grips and goes. Underbody brace is going on in a few weeks aswell which should stiffen it up further. I already have 25mm h&r springs couoled with the adaptive suspension and for the way I drive it's been spot on so far.

Best thing you can do is get better tyres on it mate and take it from there 👍

crazy thing is here in South Africa the M140i is actually more expensive than the F82 M3 and M4. how that is possible i do not know but its quite a score if you have the money

I have the adaptive suspension, but the car is on motech springs... Honestly I can't really tell that the suspension changes, am I doing something wrong?!

@@lookship I’d say it’s definitely noticeable I’ve configured my sport mode to keep comfort suspension, otherwise ride can be a bit harsh some of the time
No point improving performance if you don’t have an LSD. You won’t be able to put the power down without one
