  • BMW M240i discreet resonator delete in stages, 1st video is standard in sport mode, deleted the rear resonator (bullet shaped) first, made a slight difference (2nd video) but not enough of an enhancement so then deleted the other one (closest to engine), what a difference, (last video).
    Nice burbles and pops in sport mode, and quiet in comfort etc etc, well worth doing, not to crazy at all and switching between comfort and sport is a huge difference in sound.
    I didn’t want to cut and weld in bits of pipe as I think it looks rough, from the underside of the car you cannot see the exhaust has been modified at all.
    The exhaust pipe diameter varies in size along the length but it is an average of 83mm.

    2nd clip is a F30. What happened 😂 I wanted to see the difference the mid res only made. I've had my front and back box done in the same way you did yours. Really good job you've done there by the way!

      Yes I realised after I accidentally had a clip of my F30 MPPSK in the compilation

      I did the rear resonator 1st, and I’d say it was only about 20% louder, not enough to really notice, then I did the mid after and that was a big improvement.

    Hi,
    Will it be a difference in the sound doing it so? Then just replace with a pipe ? ( sorry for my english).

    Do you think it would still sound decent with just the insides removed without welding the sheets on like you did ?

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  Год назад +1

      Yes it would sound the same i reckon, but removing the perforated section would weaken the resonator some what, so you would only be relying on just the resonator outer surround supporting the exhaust system

    I done my double red delete last year,but now that my downpipe is in,I think Amma out one res back in and get the mperformance backbox.That should compensate for one res being put back in init?

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  2 года назад +1

      I would refit the shorter one, nearest the front of the car, as that made the biggest difference in loudness when I removed mine

    Thank you for the video and I am considering doing this on my m140i. Does the ECU need a remapping efter removal? Do you know if it pollutes more after removal? I am asking as this is something they might check during periodical technical inspection.

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  2 года назад

      Hi, no ECU doesn’t need any mods, and no issues with emissions as it’s only the 2 resonators that are deleted, the CAT is in the down pipe and I wouldn’t want to remove that anyway, also not a MOT failure if you even were to cut both resonators out and weld a straight pipe in place.

      @@nickprince8623 Thanks Nick. What materials was needed beside the welder? Seems you used some metal sheet to cover the internal “holes”. I also reckon you can do the welding on the upper side of the exhaust, so that when remounted it cannot be seen, is this correct?

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  2 года назад

      @@peterbach6527 yes I used 1.2mm stainless steel but was tough to bend and roll round the pipe, so 1mm would be better, and yes the welds were on the top so cannot be seen from underneath the car

    Why not just cut them straight off and put a pipe? I have a 340 and thinking of doing the front resonator at first(the one close to the engine).. I just want more sound but nothing too crazy. Is there any drone at all? I used to have a 328xi 2009 with a muffler delete and the drone was crazy loud..

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  2 года назад +2

      Hi,
      I didn’t want to cut them out for a few reasons, one it’s an odd sized oval pipe and both resonators pipe diameters vary in size, also it looks rough in my opinion welding bits of pipe in.
      2. the risk of distortion and alignment issues after cutting both resonators out.
      3. it still looks OEM underneath.
      Zero drone, my 340i MPPSK has more drone with both flaps open and closed.
      Deleting a muffler will result in awful sound and drone.

    What diameter is the drilled tube? (in the resonator)

    • @nickprince8623
      @nickprince8623  Год назад

      Sorry I can’t remember but around a few mm less than the diameter of the pipes that go in and out of the resonator, this is the one nearest the rear axle, the pipe nearer the front of the car is also oval inside, but the perforations are only in the two sides
