He seems like he's sick of doing interviews at this point.
Yeah, I haven't seen much of the guy, but based on this interview I really don't like him... He's got no charm, he's inpersonal, almost kind of rude. I guess that's the difference between actors doing interviews and directors doing interviews?
@@Thedudec Depends on the individual regardless of whether they're an actor or a director.
@@Thedudec I wouldn't say that entirely. Some interviews I've seen from him are actually quite cheerful. Maybe he was having a bad day.

It's disappointing knowing we'll never see more of this joker, it's such an interesting take on the character
Aaron G it’s really not, this is a character study not a super hero movie, there’s a reason why there’s only one Scarface and only one taxi driver. This are masterpieces that are meant to be enjoyed as a single piece of art. Once you start making sequels and all this business moves you get godfather 3 = not that good
Joaquin said some stuff about being interested in what else they could do with this character, but who knows
@@rodrigoterrazas4425 Godfather Part III still is a great gangster movie. It comes nowhere near the first two but it's far from a shitty movie. I loved to see what happened to Michael after part II.
@@rodrigoterrazas4425 okay Imma let you finish but hear me out...."Mad Love" as in the introduction of Harley Quinn to the Jokers world. Dude come on we didnt get a Nolanverse Quinn and all we got so far is a shitty trigger happy psycho (no offense to Robbie she does the best she can with what shes given) I would pay so much money to see a movie about this Jokers interaction with Quinn and the dissection of her character too. Shes such a deep character and currently the dc universe is barely scratching the surface. If they get the right actress that movie would be so fucking good
@@rodrigoterrazas4425 Exactly
Bittersweet. This movie can stand the test of time without a sequel and honestly it doesn’t need one. And it doesn’t need to be dragged into a universe like DCU
The Latest And The Greatest agreed 💯💯💯💯‼️
Hundo P. Needs to be a stand-alone character study like Taxi Driver.
If you want a sequal just watch Dark Knight series
The Latest And The Greatest it’s a movie that should stay isolated from the DCU.
if Pattinson call pull off a Phoenix....only then his batman is worthy of this joker....but that is a huge task !
I love how when someone actually makes a good movie that stands on its own people ask if they’re going milk the shit out of it
playermartin286 because this film presented the best joker on film yet. People want THIS joker in the cinematic universe because this joker is where the QUALITY is.
@@vice2versa _exactly!_
It's not milking. Joker is supposed to meet Batman...
Making a cinematic universe isn’t milking the shit out of it.
@@vice2versa the problem with that is, this Joker works so well because its its own thing, its own little character study, I'm sure he would still be great in a Joker vs Batman type movie, but I think that would kinda take way a bit of the charm and uniqueness it has
I'd rather Pattinson's Batman not meet Joker at all. The other villains need to shine.
THANK YOU GOD SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT it's not that I don't like joker but he's been the center of attention for waay to long
@Sex Johnson lmao ur so stupid. He would make an amazing penguin. You dont have to be FAT to be an amazing penguin.
thats what im saying. So many other great villains you could do. joker needs a good long break after this film imo

Well they're doing Long Halloween for the Batman and Jokers in that so I guess we'll see what they do.
"Nope, definitely not" 1:33
same way I would have reacted tbh.
tommy cane115 you are so dumb and stupid that I won’t even explain to you any shit god help you
The question itself seems illogical considering the timeline. It's a stand alone film. As a hardcore Batman fan, I wouldn't want that. Let the movie shine on it's own.
tommy cane115 why? because there isn’t even set images of that Batman movie the movie is years away the joker is now and joker is breaking records. they need to go ask Matt Reeves if he wants to be in a JOKER movie. stop asking this guy about heath ledger people want to compare every thing.
@tommy cane115 the point is to see things in a broader perspective. This movie isn't about Batman. I am all for what Batman fights and that doesn't mean that I have to get narrow minded to the point of lacking empathy. This movie is about putting yourself (assuming that you're a healthy individual) in the shoes of others and feel what they go through everyday. Is about understanding other people's struggles cause not everything is up for display. If you think that empathy means glorifying what he eventually becomes, then you missed the whole point. If someone sees this movie in a sadistic way then they are just mentally lost, in need of help or simply ignorant to the point of glorifying and making fun of what others with serious problems have to deal with in a day to day basis. I don't have to agree and cheer what he becomes but I understand the despair and the toxicity of society that drove him in that direction.
@tommy cane115 can I have more salt with my fries please?
I’m holding out a massive amount of hope that this version of joker played by Phoenix will return.

id rather u shit the fuck up cuz its never gonna happen for good reason
I at the very least want more of Gotham, I can understand why we may not get another joker movie but I’m still hopeful for it
This joker need to stay a stand alone character. Phoenix did an amazing job in this movie. The scenery made it look like early 80's New York.
It's interesting how he shot down the question and walked away like he was nervous. I still wanna believe there's a chance though maybe they've been told to straight up lie so it'll be a surprise when we watch batman 2021
He wasn’t nervous, he was annoyed.
So they made an amazing, mind blowing origin story only to use the character once? Makes absolutely no sense.
It actually does make sense.
Not sure if Phoenix gonna lose weight for another one 😂
I don't think he would have to. A decade would have passed, and I believe the Joker was the same weight, but Arthur was skinny.
2017 - Jared Leto (Suicide Squad)
2019 - Cameron Monaghan (Gotham Finale), Joaquin Phoenix (Joker)
2021? - Someone else (The Batman)
There could be 4 different Joker's in 5 years. Heck we have 2 Jokers in 2019 alone.
Robert Tennyson They should try to get Joaquin Phoenix to play a comic accurate Joker or something close to the Arkham games.
Ultimate Wall-Crawler No-he’s Already Played his Joker-Get someone else
Ultimate Wall-Crawler Willem Dafoe Would 🅱️ GOATED
Maybe Bill Skarsgard
No, Joker shouldn't be in The Batman.
What a shame. After watching the movie I don’t want any other joker
What if there is a gritty, realistic version of Batman (could be about Bruce dealing with the death of his parents and his choices to become Batman, basically an origin story like Joker) to come after Joker that is within the Joker universe and they go the same route as Unbreakable, Split and Glass? Maybe two separate movies, Joker and Batman, and then Killing Joke or something where the two meet?
Tyler McPherson be cool but joker would be wayyy older than batman by then. He’s at least 40 in joker. So he’d be like 60 by the time batman is active
Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if Phoneix doesn't come back to fight Pattisons Batman. I just want the Bruce Wayne from Joker to become Pattisons Batman. I just love the intrigue of how they amped up the cause and effect of his parent's death.
SPOILERS
Like just what the shooter said, and how a whole part of the city was glad that people like the Wayne's died, and what else happened that day. I want to see Batman have to deal with that divided Gotham, instead of the same old Gotham we always see. I wouldn't care if he doesn't fight Joker, if you want to see Batman fight the Joker watch the Dark Knight. Do other villians, but keep the Joker as Batman's origin. I would love to watch the Batman movie, and it starts with a re -edited (pg-13 version of the Joker scene) editing out the hard violence with shots of Bruce or whatever and include some before and after scenes of Bruce reacting to the riots. I WANT THIS SO BAD LOL . like just imagine the hurt of a whole chunk of the city , dressed as clowns murdering your parents in front of you saying they got what they fucking deserved. How will Batman want to fight to save this community? So much intrigue and potential without needing to force Phoenix back.
No. Definitely not.
@@dapperstache7747 I don't know. I saw the movie last night and I think an idea like this could work. Maybe they will do a straight up Joker 2 and just follow his character again and that would be cool too.
I feel like this movie just set so much up that I don't see Warner wanting to leave it alone, especially because of how profitable it is.
@@tmac326 I'd be 100% on board, but without Batman, I just don't see this going any further, and I think there is a zero percent chance of us seeing a Rated R Batman ever, which is unfortunate, because that would be an interesting direction for the character and the franchise.
I love his answers. It was such a great movie. If it wasn't titled Joker you would think its a psychological thriller/horror film
The DCEU is a dumpster fire and things like this are why. There’s absolutely no continuity. The show actors aren’t the movie actors , they’re rebooting in the middle of a reboot, there are stand alone films being put out that have better characters than the comic book movie adaptations. Yes I’m an MCU fan, but Truth be told Batman is my all time favorite character and the Clown Prince my favorite villain. Problem is there are 8 versions of Batman, and only 1 real standout performance. Not to mention the CGI from 2008 original Ironman looks better than the CGI in any of the DCEU movies thus far. Poor casting, bad scripts. I feel bad for Jason and Gal because they are great.
Well that’s a shame. A damn shame. I would’ve loved to see Pattinson and Phoenix in a movie together.
This makes me so very sad after seeing the movie
He should direct the new Batman movie.
My dream was always Steven Spielberg to direct a Superman Trilogy, Martin Scorcese to direct a Batman trilogy (perhaps even more), Peter Jackson to direct a Wonder Woman trilogy (with Paty Jenkins, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini keeping an eye on the script) and then James Cameron directing The Justice League.
As good as that sounds though on paper though nothing really beats stand alone movies where you get the entire experience of a story in one viewing rather than just a single chapter in an "extended universe".
john smith unfortunately Scorsese ain’t gonna be directing anything related to superheroes LMAO. You heard what he said about Marvel? However, Spielberg was gonna direct the first Christopher Reeve Superman, but was busy with another film, I think.
@@rossdiamondthief6627 Speilberg and Superman are a natural fit considering the fantasy of Superman the alien coming to Earth and being the savior of it is very similar to the Jewish fantasy of coming to America and being its savior. At one point the Nazis called the Superman comics Superjew. Anyway I agree enourmously with what Scorsese said about the Marvel movies and would never expect him to do a Superhero movie. Its just a fantasy, much like how everyone used to fantasize about how good Stanley Kubrick would be at directing a Watchmen movie but we all knew as a director he was above a project like that. It would make sense for them to meet since Joker happens around the 70s and 20 years later Batman would be about 25 and the Batman is set in the 90s
Wonder Woman 2 is in 1984, this was in 81, DC has alot of options

In fact, nobody in this supposed DC universe should ever cross paths with each other
Let them all shine individually without anyone interfering

I definitely want other villains to be introduced, but a tease at the end of the Reeves part 3 would be dope. I think Joaquin’s joker would be perfect for Pattinson Batman even though we haven’t seen his performance but I’m pretty sure he’ll do the role justice.
Why does everyone assume you have to go method acting to play the joker? Ledger didn't as far as I know, he kept a diary and stuff but that's a fairly normal thing for an actor to flesh out their character. Also just casually trying to erase Leto, he wasn't great but come on.

Please leave this piece of art alone. Do not let the mass media force it to become garbage with their sequels, prequels, spin offs, tv shows, and all
But if Joaquin’s Joker waits until 1985 he can ride in Christopher’s Doc Brown’s time machine and meet up with Robert’s Batman and together they can stop Jurassic World.

How do your own farts smell?
In my opinion introducing this Joker to a super hero movie will be a bit weird. it should remain a stand alone movie. i never expected that DC would bring something like this. i mean i don't want this joker to collaborate with batman or any other superhero. this movie is pure art & masterpiece! you know it was more than a super villain or super hero movie! it's a powerful potrait of mental illness & shows the reality that how we humans create monsters of ourselves and throw them into society.
Thankyou DC & Phillips for such a great movie & More importantly, Thanks to Jaquin pheonix for putting his soul into the Joker. Great Cinematography! ♥️
I want a origin story for Riddler in the same style they did this.
Danny Boyyy if you haven’t watched Gotham, he was my favorite character

This movie is so great that it doesn’t need a sequel or head to head with batman, but on the opposite side, this movie and character is so good that I almost want another movie if this character, but I don’t mind either way
Batman has a way of manhandling Joker and Phoenix wouldn't want that to happen to be around a kid (Robert Pattinson) to hit him around and be humiliated by the great Gotham hero.
Well no matter what people say, I'll consider it canon since it's a very good origin story for the iconic supervillain. We never got a proper official origin story with him until now. (I don't read comics, so forgive me)
It's anything but canon with batman being 12 and the joker 50...
I’m fine with that. Joker doesn’t need a follow up film, and Pattinson’s Batman will be great without Joker.
Is it just me or nobody else expected such a dark movie from Todd Phillips? Like, after movies like old skool and due date? Wonderful job Todd.
sacred. Lol. I mean the cat's out of the bag considering who the followup live action joker was.
I have to see this version of the joker go up against someone’s Batman I just have to
Todd should make his own universe and movie series like christopher nolan
i would really like to see what happens next after this movie
I wonder if there will be a sequel
Pattinsons Batman gives a lot of leeway to not only let Jared Leto actually do well in the role, but also have a clean slate. Because Pattinsons Batman is a younger version of Affleck, so they can have Leto's Joker without the tattoos and make it a much more nuanced, toned down version. Given the right script and look I still feel like Leto can do a good job
B-but we need more phoenix joker movie, we need a sequel or two :(
Well that's a good thing because Joaquin's Joker isn't suited to go toe to toe with Batman because by the time Bruce become Batman he will already be old as shit and not only that he's been established not to be a very smart, chaotic, malicious strategic anarchist like Heath or Jack or Jared's Joker were in previous films and other iterations of the character from the comics you could argue and say that he could grow into that type of character overtime and while that's fair point I still wouldn't buy it because of what this movie displayed so I'm happy about this confirmation Todd made that his spin is contained it's own world and won't be shared at all with another universe different from his own because I want to see William Defoe next as the Clown Prince of Crime.
Eh not really cause we don't know the timeline they could do any shit
@@sarov7658 Right, DC is all over the place so anything can happen but this timeline is not connected.

He can continue to say it over and over again, but in WB says it’ll happen then it’s gonna happen wether he wants it or not.
There’s no way it’s work anyways because Arthur is up there in age. If they met face to face, Joker would be in his 50s-60s
THE DARK KNIGHT - The beginning of NOLAN's BATMAN "parents died and THE JOKER, BATMAN parents just died the same way.
I think, it is obvious that there will be a talk about connecting the TWO BATMAN vs. JOKER Trilogy before closing it out. The Joker will leave the DC Universe and Batman stays and joins the Justice League in a not F'ed up way.
If done correctly, a Robert Pattinson Batman and Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie would be the biggest superhero movie of all time! So good, that both would have to pass away in it so that there would be no sequils, ever! Just like an Iron Man movie now with Robert Downey Jr.
