@Don Che after watching the newest batman I wanted to watch the old one with heath cause everyone l9ves it and says it's the best batman movie best villain. But it was so underwhelming. Literally the most overhyped movie. He does nothing that I was out of my seat for.
The dark knight was no question the best, but that's basically predicated on heath ledger giving an absolutely astounding performance as joker. This movie was a very close second. We got to see dark Batman and an diabolical riddler. This was beautiful cinematography all around.
Well he's a stupid R. Tried to sell the new "Spiceal" for a year and a half but didn't sell it. So he had to put it out because the jokes are pointless.
I wanna throw out there, the three best Batman movies are Batman (1989), The Dark Knight and The Batman. All three show a completely different take on Batman and Gotham but essentially the three hold the most accurate accounts. Keaton shows the mystery playboy Bruce Wayne who has this inner struggle but comes to life as Batman. Bale perfectly shows the struggle between balancing who he really is Bruce or Batman. Pattinson played the new to this coming out of the shadow and becoming the known hero that Gotham is starting to see it needs.
I was hoping though for a batflick movie. Such a missed opportunity. The Batman will age as will as Keaton’s Batman i think. Which is not nearly as well as TDK, that thing is ageless. Perfect mix i think would have been TDK combined with snyder’s Suit, fight choreography and brutality. That would be an the Ultimate masterpiece, another parallel universe maybe.
I think the perfect batman is the batmans detective skills, batman the animated series voice or similar to it, afflecks fighting choreography and suit. Then having a villian as good as the joker from the dark knight. And to be honest I think Christians bales batman had a awful suit and a terrible voice what made that movie iconic was heath ledger hands down.
Both are amazing movies. I see Dark Knight trilogy as what if Batman was in the real world. Whereas, The Batman reminds me of a Batman graphic novel that’s trying to be realistic but stay true to roots of the character which is a really cool idea.
@Siddharth Sriram bruce acts like that because he’s up all night, he looks like doesn’t see sun and that makes sense. all that analyzation and that part went completely over your head.
@Siddharth Sriram he’s a trust fund kid, alfred does all the business work are u fucking stupid. he’s batman he comes out at night, it would be realistic for him to look like that if he’s never in the sun.
@Siddharth Sriram You do realise most of the rubbish you wrote can be addressed by playing it in slow motion or simply watching the movie? Unless you like having everything on screen explained to you. For example, he didn’t hit his face, he hit his armoured chest, he didn’t take a bomb to the face, he covered it just in time - I could go on but you clearly went into the movie for the sole purpose of finding reasons to hate it.
I think the reason why I appreciated this movie so much was because it gave a sense of seriousness to superhero movies again. In marvel movies the incessant popping of corny jokes throughout every turn of the movie gets old after awhile.
@@jonathansoko1085 right! It’s like how in Star Wars there was like 2 jokes a movie and the rest was all action and serious to the persona of the movie. @@ki-adi-mundi6421 this Batman was good as a serious movie because it encased real scenarios and was more noir based…Starwars on the other hand is like “hey, we made up a bunch of random shit and creatures, now watch our 2 hour serious movie about it”….no payoff and way too boring to buy into
I couldnt get passed 2 hours, turned it off, couldnt take batman serious. Maybe its because of that guy, pattingson or whatever his name is, he looks like a kid, an emo playing batman. Even all previous movies, and even the tv series was more enjoyable, I mean masculine xD.

Batman Begins is top. “But I know the rage that drives you. That impossible anger strangling the grief, until the memory of your loved one is just... poison in your veins. Just finished watching Reeves's Batman , even I couldn't believe until after the movie when I did some research that Penguin was actually Colin Farrell. I'd say Pattinson did ok , even though I and frankly a lot of us had a lot of doubt about the 'twilight' guy playing the role .
But he did so little the whole movie in terms of acting. He was just mopey and dull, even with Alfred there he gave nothing to feel connected with. He was the exact same persona as Bruce Wayne as he was as Batman.
Cosmopolis, Good Time, High Life, The Lighthouse, The King, Tenet, and The Devil All The Time are all great movies with him as a lead or THE lead. I dont know why people refuse to accept him as anything but "the Twilight guy."
Nah disagree. It’s good but it’s more of a blockbuster action flick. could be anyone, John wick, James Bond, just happens to be Batman. Heath Ledger made an otherwise very ordinary action film great. It’s wildly overrated and it’s because Heath was so good in it and then died.

The Batman costume in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were probably the best if you want to be realistic. The costume in BvS was also pretty great because it looked so intimidating af it looked so jacked. Colin Farrell acting was probably the best in The Batman and the makeup was pretty amazing as well. 👍🏼
@Siddharth Sriram I know what you mean, but many people have their own opinions, I watched the film a few times but now I can't get past the first 30 minutes, I wish they could have done the detective skills better, then again this is only year 2 for Robs Batman.

I agree with Joe, Joker was so damn good it is hard not to compare it. One of the many things that made Joker so great IMO is the fact that it didn't even have to tie into the Batman story and it would have still been a damn good movie. The fact that it did tie into Gotham and the origin of the Joker just made it 10 times better. Joaquin Phoenix's performance might never be topped.
"Joker" Wasn't about the joker that fights batman. Its a precursor to the joker we knew before. Arthur fleck is supposed to be the inspiration for the joker in batmans lifetime. Otherwise he'd be a 60-70yr old man.
@@dub7088 Yes that’s what I’m saying as far as the directors words. I don’t believe it’s canon technically I just think he meant in his universe probably referring to a sequel movie or something
The batmobile isnt on a challenger chassis, the car is on a 4wd complete independent suspension frame with a one off body and a chevy V8 LS engine. The only part of the car that actually looks like a charger or challenger is the roofline. There is a full build breakdown they released that's actually pretty interesting
Catwomans white privilege line is quite literally the only issue I had with this whole movie. It pulled me right out of the movie because it has absolutely nothing to do with the plot or story. The line falls flat! Other then that, great movie, I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
agreed. I shut the movie off, griped to some friends about it, was promised that was the only bit of that type of bullshit, went back and finished the movie. good movie, some great scenes, but not nearly as good as the joker.
The cinematography was fantastic, and admittedly, Pattinson did better than I expected. But there were issues. First, I did not like their attempt at turning Thomas Wayne into the classic "rich white man" that had someone murdered. Nor did I like that Batman was trained by Alfred. It belittles his history and dedication to becoming what he was. There was serious "woke" messaging of basically all the bad guys are rich white men, and even inserted the "white privilege" line. I also thought it was hilarious that the new mayor was literally gut shot and then acts like she is perfectly fine when Batman rescued her. Kravitz did a good job as Catwoman, but honestly I think the villains overshadowed the heroes in the film. Not to mention the completely bullet proof armor that Batman had, walking through that bullet fire like the Terminator was a touch much. I enjoyed watching it, but doubt I would obsessively watch it like I have the Dark Knight ones.
Agree. I think the cinematography was some of the best I've seen. Also too long, don't think it needed to be that long.. and the climax, hundreds of dudes just rock up to a government convention with automatic weapons, surely the security have lookouts there?
Alfred in the comics was an SAS operative? Who else should have trained him as a young man? And Thomas Wayne’s only mistake was telling the wrong person about his problem, he didn’t want the reporter killed. Could have lived without the “white privilege” comment from Zoey Kravitz but product of its time.
Haha, this guy's complaints are fucking weird. These characters are meant to be reimagined and changed so they stay fresh with new ideas. literally, almost every comic book that is talked about does something different. It's awesome that Alfred has an even bigger impact on Bruce's life. it explains why this guy probably became a butler for the Wayne. He was probably also a bodyguard to protect the family. And you clearly weren't paying attention cause he told them to scare him but not to kill him. That's why he felt horrible and wanted to go to the cops. And what are we gonna pretend like rich white people don't get people killed? And it's a comic book movie,, so your minor complaint about someone getting shot in the stomach is stupid asf.
I thought that was hilarious. There’s consequences for every other action in the movie but Batman and penguin blow up a gas truck and no one bats an eye or asks questions
to me The Batman is by far the best Batman movie of all time. I went back and rewatched the Dark Knight trilogy, I watched the Michael keaton batman films, and I am in love with Matt Reeves' The Batman. It's the best portrayal of the detective Batman, and I think it's the best portrayal of an early Batman still learning the ropes
He's impulsive and stupid. Bruce Wayne as a character has been written out of existence. The Penguin was comic relief. The Riddler wasn't intimidating in the slightest. I could go on and on. The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie by far. "The Batman" was a disgrace imo.
Heath ledger joker is one of if not the greatest performance in film history. To do so much with so little screen time, act brilliantly in a film more so meant for action… it’s remarkable.
The thing is, you’re not supposed to sympathize with the Joker. His background isn’t supposed to be established so we “understand” why he is the way he is. Yes there’s been hints here n there, but it’s largely a mystery. Not even Batman can figure it out. That’s the archetype of his character. It was a great movie but it was a misrepresentation.
I agree. Amazing movie but it was only a Joker movie in the sense that he puts on clown makeup and it's set in Gotham. Joker is suppose to be a mystery imo. One of the reasons I never liked when the comics tried to give him a backstory
Y'know... I've have had a neck for trying to sympathize with as many characters as possible, and even after finding out who I'm "supposed to" sympathize with, I disregard it, and interpret it how I feel about it. I didn't even get around to watching a full trailer of The Batman, only a few seconds, and some stills. Just from the cast, I had a feeling that The Batman was like Batman 66, but way darker. Anyway, I mostly enjoyed TDK because of the chaos of it all. But they could've done more with the story, IMHO.
The Joker is a modern version of a Trickster character and is a Demon in the classical mythological sense who is there in the story to make the protagonist who has hubris to have doubts and be that wall they can't ever fully penetrate.
I viewed it as an isolated film from any other Batman arch.. almost like a Marvel's What If... the movie was good.. but I havent revisited it since seeing it in theaters. I agree with you tho
"The Dark Knight is the best of all time....but yeah I paused [The Batman] and looked at my wife and said 'is this not the best Batman you've ever seen?'." This is an example of why people blame Schaub for just agreeing with Joe.

That's not how a debate conversation goes between two friends. If you say Movie A was the best one ever, you don't then immediately switch your stance by saying the movie your friend is talking about is the best one ever. I think Robert Patterson played batman really well BC he played him differently and it felt more realistic as what batman would be and the only thing I could think that Robert could do a little bit better is the Bruce Wayne side of the role but other than that I loved everything
I actually love the way he played Bruce Wayne. He really comes across as a deeply emotionally and psychologically scarred individual with virtually no functioning life outside of his quest for vengeance. Which in my opinion is the most realistic take on batman.
@@srjr2531 Emo batman is a characteristic of the actor Pattison, and not a trait of the beloved well developed character "Batman". is my interpretation of this poem.
Old school Batman was great. Penguin was good in this recent one and there were scenes where Patterson was good as Batman, but he played a terrible Bruce Wayne. Way too depressed and broken. Cat woman and riddler depictions were terrible... It barely passes as rewatchable.
Bought the movie after seeing this 2 or so hours ago. Just saw the car chase from the trailer. Has me grinning from ear to ear. The way the camera is set up close to the cars while the tires are skidding is just the angle I would have used. Makes the cars have so much more power behind them. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
I just watched The Batman for the first time on the plane travelling to Canada. Loved it. Watched it again on way back home. Came home and bought the Blu-ray. Love it, most realistic Batman movie made imo.
That cringe ''white privilege'' line in the movie though. There was no hint of racism as an issue in Gotham, so it felt really jarring for a class issue to become a race issue out of no where. Then again i noticed how every bad guy in the movie was a white male, while all the good characters, aside from Batman himself, were minorities.
He (phoenix) is one of those actors who gets better with age… maybe Pattinson becomes an elite actor after this stint. I believe confidence is a huge booster.
@@lproof8472 I agree. But look at Hayden Christensen, he did some good work later and disappeared after doing Star Wars. Sometimes it’s hit or miss with actors.
I went into the new Batman fully expecting to hate it. I was pleasantly surprised. One of the best things about this movie is that it could stand alone without Batman and be a good movie. You could replace Batman with some detective and it would still be good.
There was only one reference to white supremacy, i expected WAY more lmao. I liked it too, didnt love it, just liked it. Im just ready for something that isnt disney marvles approach, im done with that stuff
Thats exactly why i didnt like it as a batman film He held no place in the movie, didnt service the plot at all Just like you said, if you removed/replaced him out of the movie, the plot doesnt lose anything
If you liked it I would recommend you read some of the comics it is based on: The Long Halloween, Batman Year One (Tom King) are both fantastic batman stories
I liked the new one, but it’d be hard to change my mind that “Batman Returns” with Devito, Walken, and Pfifer, as well as Tim Burtons gothic nature, was definitely the best all around.
Joaquin‘s performance as the joker was also epic and absolutely brilliant acting, over the last five or six years his acting has been bar Nunn one of the best in the world
Heath Ledger ushered in the age of seeing the super hero movie for the villain. He absolutely changed the course of cinema. In many ways, I think he also ushered in the rise of the anti-hero protagonist

Dark Knight ain't all that without Heath Ledger. His Joker saved the movie.
The dark knight was no question the best, but that's basically predicated on heath ledger giving an absolutely astounding performance as joker. This movie was a very close second. We got to see dark Batman and an diabolical riddler. This was beautiful cinematography all around.

The movie isn’t perfect but I personally think it’s my 2nd favorite Batman movie after the dark knight. I also think the riddler was a new cool look.

The movie didn't feel like 2022, it felt like a classic movie i loved it
The cinematography was fantastic, and admittedly, Pattinson did better than I expected.
A prequel novel explains Bruce traveled the world training various martial arts and studying at universities. They did a poor job tying it into movie
And it's a comic book movie,, so your minor complaint about someone getting shot in the stomach is stupid asf.

to me The Batman is by far the best Batman movie of all time.
Without superhero movies wouldn't be considered high art
agreed.
@@TheBadElf Yeah I didn’t enjoy it because he was like a completely different character from the DC villian.
"The Dark Knight is the best of all time....but yeah I paused [The Batman] and looked at my wife and said 'is this not the best Batman you've ever seen?'."
This is an example of why people blame Schaub for just agreeing with Joe.
He’s literally never had a thought of his own.
Joe literally hadn't even said anything about Dark Knight before Schaub said that? If you're gonna just hate for the sake of hating, at least don't make yourself look like a COMPLETE clown
@@connorlynch428 You're right, he didn't, Schaub brought up The Dark Knight. He said it was the best one, but they were talking about The Batman and Joe said that he liked it and thought it was great, and after that is when Schaub then said "is The Batman not the greatest one so far". That's not how a debate conversation goes between two friends. If you say Movie A was the best one ever, you don't then immediately switch your stance by saying the movie your friend is talking about is the best one ever. Does that not look like he's pandering to Joe?
I will give him credit that he stood firm on his stance about the costumes even though Joe kept downplaying them. Regardless, you seem way too angry 😆
@@GeekExtremist You're clearly not understanding pal, he didn't just agree that what Joe said is the best one, because he literally hadn't spoken about his best one yet, you're just another mongo child wanting to give someone shit who's accomplished more than you ever will, and it's honestly getting embarrassing😂 the most Schaub did was contradict himself, but he wasn't pandering to Joe in any way, stop trying so damn hard
dude Joe had literally not said a word when schaub said that. what he means is the Dark Knight is a better movie but the character Batman from The Batman is the best rendition so far. are y'all just listening to hate or what?
I think Robert Patterson played batman really well BC he played him differently and it felt more realistic as what batman would be and the only thing I could think that Robert could do a little bit better is the Bruce Wayne side of the role but other than that I loved everything
I actually love the way he played Bruce Wayne. He really comes across as a deeply emotionally and psychologically scarred individual with virtually no functioning life outside of his quest for vengeance. Which in my opinion is the most realistic take on batman.
@@thelemurofmadagascar9183 I feel like in the next movies we’ll notice how much more confident he gets and everything this is going to be a franchise
@@thelemurofmadagascar9183 yes its annoying how everyone goes "he is just emo muh muh"
Love it when actors play the character, and not themselves pretending to be the character.
Huh ?
@@srjr2531 they just mean it's not will smith playing will smith in the given situation
@@srjr2531 Emo batman is a characteristic of the actor Pattison, and not a trait of the beloved well developed character "Batman". is my interpretation of this poem.

Joes reaction to Collin Farrell being penguin is exactly mine
I never understood the Batman movies getting so much praise.
Joker was a good film, but Batman being one of the best films of all time? GTFO
I didn’t think this Batman was very good. Paxton is just to emo
I am hoping they meant one of the best 'batman' films. Not over all films
@@ivanwoodworth4958 Paxton? Lmao Batman is an emo character buddy. Your grammar and your knowledge is off.
Phoenix playing a depressed person again yep great movie
Old school Batman was great.
Penguin was good in this recent one and there were scenes where Patterson was good as Batman, but he played a terrible Bruce Wayne. Way too depressed and broken.
Cat woman and riddler depictions were terrible...
It barely passes as rewatchable.
The Batman is the best BATMAN movie ever ! Finally a Batman movie about BATMAN!
Facts
Joe talks to brendan like hes talking to his only son. Amazing convo thanks guys.
I looked at my wife half way through and said: “This is awful, and I’m about to fall asleep.”
I did fall asleep
The Batman is the Cure for Insomnia.
Why did you buy it.?? 😮 I just watched it myself and streamed it for nothing 😅
Meh
It’s a Terrible movie. Just watch the Dark knight again and save yourself the Pain.
@@oakleyadoakley696 Oh my gosh you're the coolest person on the Internet!!!!! ROTFFLMMAO!!!!😅😂
@@asmrhooded it's great what you talking about.
Hollywood doesn't make realistic movies. People like their escape from reality.
Oh hi , how are ya ? Ms /Mr ?
@@1pcfred I am reality
When he played the son of Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator that was Oscar level performance.
Commodus. And you’re soooo right about that.
I knew that watching as a kid. Truly a solid film
He (phoenix) is one of those actors who gets better with age… maybe Pattinson becomes an elite actor after this stint. I believe confidence is a huge booster.
@@fizzyjecado He became one of those actors in “The Lighthouse.”
@@lproof8472 I agree. But look at Hayden Christensen, he did some good work later and disappeared after doing Star Wars.
Sometimes it’s hit or miss with actors.
Brendan looks like he uses both hands at once when he brushes his teeth.
Brendan looks like he wakes you up to tell you he's going to sleep
He also wipes back to front.
When I saw Batman standing next to his car I thought of Blade with Wesley Snipes. I believe it's the same vehicle.
Thats exactly why i didnt like it as a batman film
He held no place in the movie, didnt service the plot at all
Just like you said, if you removed/replaced him out of the movie, the plot doesnt lose anything
If you liked it I would recommend you read some of the comics it is based on: The Long Halloween, Batman Year One (Tom King) are both fantastic batman stories
@@winterassassin22 year one is one of my favorites and long Halloween is so good

I agree I love The Joker movie but i also love how ambigues the Heath Ledger Joker is. Heath Ledger's Joker is like a biblical demon and im about it
Heath Ledger ushered in the age of seeing the super hero movie for the villain. He absolutely changed the course of cinema. In many ways, I think he also ushered in the rise of the anti-hero protagonist
The Batman and Batman Begins are my favorite Batman movies.
100% nailed it.
I like the Adam West Batman from the 60s.
