For example, Heath Ledger was completely brilliant as The Joker and I just bought into it, disturbing, unhinged and terrifying to the average person. The concept of "some men just want to watch the world burn" was perfectly portrayed and I loved every bit of it because that to me so aptly described who the movie wanted The Joker to be and it posed a grave threat to Gotham, Batman as the protector and the world as a whole. Bale was well suited to be the foil to that, very serious and brooding as Batman but still able to pull off the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne is supposed to be.
