I think it must have been that for the production company. I don’t know why anyone would ever offer me a romantic comedy. I find American Psycho very funny.” I'm accustomed to not having any map for my life. I'd be reaching for an Uzi if I knew what was going to happen every day. If anybody tells me I shouldn't jump, of course all I want to do is jump and show it can be done. I don't think I was particularly in need of superheroes. I never had any fascination with Superman or Spider-Man or a Batman kind of character. If it happened at all, it was imagined characters that I had invented. My dad was a role model for me. He was a fascinating man. There was intrigue and entertainment growing up with him. He gave me an edict that I still pursue: "Life should never be boring". In his speech at Golden Globes a year ago, he was great: he is devoting a majority of his speech unsentimentally to his wife, Sandra, and their two children, spoofing celebrity entitlement by nicknaming them “Banana and Burrito” for public consumption, and sending up his edgy reputation by dubbing himself the go-to-guy for playing “a charisma-free asshole”. Even the quip about his “so-so career” had a winning humility. Geezer Bale is one of his best. The guy is brilliant.
This isn't even his actual accent check out his interview with BBC that's mostly Christian bales accent. Apparently sometimes he keeps accents in interviews from the movies he's doing.
Bale is one of my favorite actor. Saw him first time in my teens in this little known movie called Equilibrium, the movie it was standard fare scifi action but I remember thinking the lead had some acting chops. And then I saw him again co star in one of my favorite director (Nolan)'s movie called The Prestige. Thats when I knew, this one is a very serious actor and I would try watch every movie he has been in. I have to say the when I saw him in Ford V Ferrari, I couldn't believe this was the guy that played Batman! The true immersion into the character he plays is astounding (and I imagine enacts a heavy psychological toll)... Damon has been on of my favorites for a long time. Not much I can say that hasn't been said and is known about the man. Great actor, great person and love every time him and Kimmel are acting up on camera.
It is absolutely adorable the way Matt so kindly explains to Christian what 30 Rock is. I would never guess Bale is that out of the loop. Edit: it's around 6:20
the fight scene between them made me imagine if the movie was actually more in-line of a comedy drama, given like ken miles' behaviour in the movie, from throwing the wrench, denting his trunk, etc..
Bale just gave an interview to Denver Post and he explains what his Miles role was about and his accent, I also love his humbleness : ''Bale says that he knows that while he didn’t necessarily act like Miles might’ve in certain situations, he felt it fit the character. He explains, “I utilized that Ken Miles was not a strong, silent type. I’m quite certain that I overplayed just how much he expressed himself within the car. But it felt very in keeping with the man I had been told so much about and read about outside of the script.” Curiously, it has been quite some time since the English actor has played an English character on screen. When asked when was the last time he spoke with an English accent in a film, Bale replied: “I haven’t really thought about it, but I think it’s been at least since (2006’s) The Prestige, so probably almost 15 years since I’ve played British. But I have lived in America longer than I’ve lived in Britain. And I completely understand that many Americans won’t necessarily be able to hear the difference, but the area of England that Ken Miles came from is radically different than my own accent. I have a bit of a mess of an accent from living in many different towns and from what I do for a living. A few people have said, ‘It must have felt nice to speak in your own voice,’ and sometimes I just say ‘Yes.’ But the truth is that it’s as different as someone from the Bronx doing a Texan accent.” Another aspect of the production that helped Bale get into character was that director James Mangoldutilized practical and tangible set pieces whenever possible. He explains, “For me, because I lack any kind of considered technique, I’m constantly striving to stay in that space.'” - Christian Bale Also, read this review of his Miles role, it's spot on : www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2020-01-16/performances-christian-bale-ford-v-ferrari

I'm accustomed to not having any map for my life.
The interviewer seems knowledgeable and disarming and real in his interviewing. Puts the actors at ease to actually share things. Cheers. Good job.
All the times I’ve seen Christian Bale in films and this is the first time I’ve actually heard his voice. That’s an amazing actor.
This isn't even his actual accent check out his interview with BBC that's mostly Christian bales accent. Apparently sometimes he keeps accents in interviews from the movies he's doing.
I loved Christian Bale from the 1st time I saw him in Empire of the Sun superb actor puts his heart into everything he does ☺
Such a wonderful pair of top world-class actors right there. Humble and relaxed. BIG fan!
You tell how nervous the interviewer is but it's endearing because he obviously respects these men so much.
Me: Can we just take a minute to reflect on The Talented Mr. Ripley & American Psycho teaming up?
Yes.
MatthewDowling.com • I would see that movie. 😎
It is absolutely adorable the way Matt so kindly explains to Christian what 30 Rock is. I would never guess Bale is that out of the loop.
Edit: it's around 6:20
Christian Bale will always be the best batman ever, his commitment to the role really showed.
Christ almighty! @11:35 for weight loss talk
Thx
THANK YOU!
The hero we need
Bale is sitting there like: "Give me some respect!" Matt: "What am I doing here?"
Matt Damon is very likable
A great read of the two.
What??? Bizarre
Glad to hear Christian emphasize that the extreme weight loss/gain is not something to be admired or praised.
Loved this, so real and relaxed.
09:52 Lol, that look from Bale.
OH GOOD FOR YOUUUU
His American Psycho peeped out of his soul
He's like "this fuckin question again"
This means he still has affection for the character
@@VivekBoseShree I read that in his voice lol
I've just rewatched the Dark Night trilogy and I've sunk deep into a Christian Bale obsession again... he's just too perfect
Same here 😊
the fight scene between them made me imagine if the movie was actually more in-line of a comedy drama, given like ken miles' behaviour in the movie, from throwing the wrench, denting his trunk, etc..
But it felt very in keeping with the man I had been told so much about and read about outside of the script.”
Curiously, it has been quite some time since the English actor has played an English character on screen. He explains, “For me, because I lack any kind of considered technique, I’m constantly striving to stay in that space.'” - Christian Bale
Also, read this review of his Miles role, it's spot on : www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2020-01-16/performances-christian-bale-ford-v-ferrari
No wonder why actors get drunk for these press questionnaires.
Because the interviewers suck and ask the same dumb questions.
These are rarely interesting. Interview with Directors are usually more interesting.
the "irish brothers fighting" bit made me cringe cause i saw them two referring to it as brothers fighting in a previous interview already.
@@YourNeighborCarl exactly
Ryan I don’t know why that comment made me chuckle.
5:12 For me I'd have to say, besides Rocky, Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe and Renee Zellweger. I'd highler recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. Few movies make me cry, that's one of them that gets me everytime.
I could listen to Christian Bale recite the user manual for a blender.
All day, every day.
This is a really good interview; the interviewer also did really well and tried very hard to connect with the two guys. I hope it gets more views, I wouldn't mind seeing more of the same. :-)
Damn, I actually felt bad for them. This must have been the 100th interview that day, cause they look bored to tears.
I always find it more telling looking at how the interviewer interacts with actors - this was a nice interview but it was definitely a nervous interviewer vs tired actors
Such a great interview. Love both these guys! Well done!
This movie was so good, I wept like a baby child. Kudos, props, five gold stars and 👍👍 to the best actors of my day.
Dear Matt, "what Sports movie could move you to tears? You sweet, enormously talented, overly modest man, Your *INVICTUS* moved me to tears! And Christian, you, sir, are just phenomenal. (After having lived in England for a few yrs, I've such a soft spot for English accents.) Matt, your accent for Invictus was most impressive!! Enjoyed Ford vs Ferrari immensely; watched 4 times, so far.
Bale is the greatest, i mean. Since 86 ( as a child ) . What an actor . But , i first did not believe, that Damon is 49 Years old. God Will Hunting over 20 years ago ? Unbelieveable. Time is running . Both are great actors. Thanks for many good hours with them and to them . I wish a movie with both. Would be great.
So humble and polite these guys are !!!!!!
The fact that these guys are not only talented actors but also nice people makes me love them so much. I did enjoy this film and more and more people should watch it! I never expected Matt and Christian would have great chemistry.
a very rank and honest interview and the ending about the weight thing by all involved by all parties was very positive thank you
Christian has been wearing black shirts to his interviews since ages! 😂
😁😂... The Dark Knight
Minus points for not wearing his signature cargo pants 😀
This is so painful. Terrible interviewer.
Great interview, very down to earth and fun.
Christian Bale was tremendous in Vice ! He was amazing ! Great actor
This is a chill interview. Well done.
Bale is absolutely brilliant in FordVFerrari. Great movie of 2019. like Bale's characters very much
When is he not brilliant.... He is a national treasure... A person who defines GREAT ACTING.
Credit to the interviewer who asked good questions and was well informed and clearly a movie fan
I love them both!!!
You are in every youtube video comment section just like Alain Bruno
Coops Hahaha!!! I just saw this today!! Didnt realize people notice these things 😂
"she almost got into a fight with an audience member" matt damons response-"thats awesome" had me in stitches
9:43 Chrisitan's response is priceless. "You want to go? We can do this right now mate!". 😆
I Love Christine Bale Voice So Special Voice Of England Voice❤❤
one of the best movie. perfect story and outstanding acting. camera and sound is awesome.
I cried 😭
Such a great interview. The interviewer seemed to bond well with the two and they didn’t seem annoyed to be there :). That’s always a good thing :)
Bale gives Rocks' smoldering glare a run for it's money. That guy locks onto you and doesn't let go.
Christian Bale was the best Batman, which I remember, especially when he worked with Heath Ledger
Good interviewer. He tried hard and it brought them out more. Good interview.
Interviewer: How many times have you guys been asked, who would win Batman or Bourne?
Matt and Christian: Like a thousands times...
Interviewer: So who would win?
smh
From an interviewer's perspective that's a totally reasonable conversational line
I mean how many times do you ask new friends questions they've heard a million times
@@KanjoosLahookvinhaakvinhookvin Asking your new friend a question that they've heard a million times. . .is nowhere near the same as an interviewer asking the same question that's been asked a million times at a press junket with Hollywood actors.
smh
@@corysantana6171 Really? You don't want interviews to have at least a superficial similarity to humans interacting with each other naturally?
@@KanjoosLahookvinhaakvinhookvin I agree that interviews should feel natural and he does a good job of that at these moments @3:28 @7:20 @9:05
it was really cringe lol
Bale accent changes every movie and interview. Amazing. 😂
What a respectful honest review. Nice.
Couple of great guys, not full of them selves very classy and the movie was great.
Both great actors.. I would hang out with these two. In. LA. They seam down to earth and humble
Bale throws the wrench at Matt in the first part of the movie and Matt frames it. That’s what a friend does.
My friend shot me in the head (fatal😪) i melted the bullet down and wear it as a ring to this day.
@@johnsmith-wx5fb 🤯
I loved that interview
He’s an amazing interviewer, probably Top 10 in the world for sure! 🏆
I love how Matt is a "dad" type person now.
His kids are going to love watching these old clips!
"Hey great job, have a gt40" lol
The question was beyond dumb 🙄
😝
@@modern.performer - heck yeah!
Excellent interviewer and interview
"That's was a great job! Have a GT40!" You gotta love Matt Damon.
What a great convo, loved listening to all of the insight.
Two brilliant actors, a lot of the time in different genres but both absolutely superb in what they have done.
I never thought Matt Damon was attractive but with 2 dudes like this as friends really compliments him he seems so down to earth and manly, cool etc
His real accent - finally !
I had no idea!
JB Snyder how’d you not know?? You’ve never heard him speak out of character??? Sheesh.
His criss crossing continents had a weird effect on his voice for a while.. It's settled now
Love your picture..
@@BazIrvine then you have great taste.
6:03 Christian still trying to think of his favorite sports movie
I love how the question about the wrestling scene reminded him. 😂
9:43 about Bourne vs Batman, bale reaction is priceless lol
They are both really nice guys. A pleasure to watch and listen. 😎
