I agree! To be fair, Affleck is a good Bruce Wayne, but Affleck's Batman is not credible. Affleck seem to always play the same role and playing himself. I just can't stand his Ben-Affleck-chin, and his Batman voice. He sounds just like Ben Affleck in the movie.

Bale sounds different for every interview he does. It’s like he has 3 or 4 characters. His Terminator Salvation interviews were all done in an American accent, this one is pure cockney , and for Vice it’s a much more high class accent. A man of mystery he is...but also remains one of the very best working actors of his generation.

14:50 - I found it really profound about how Christian is conscious about his ‘weight-loss’ or transformations for roles can be viewed. He doesn’t want people to think this is the ‘gold standard’ of committing to a role because it sets bad precedence and an unrealistic expectation for new actors to meet which can either result in disappointment or tragedy or both. He is a good man.

Major props and respect to Christian for his thoughts on weight loss being used as a benchmark for how 'committed' someone is a to a role. He has probably done the most extreme weight loss/gains of any actor but he isn't the least bit conceited about it or displays any false modesty and instead states the obvious, he did it because he felt it helped him in the role, but that in no way should it be used as an industry standard and instead, more sensible and safe techniques should be used before someone potentially dies as a consequence.

Bale is my favorite actor EVER. He still drives his old Toyota, you can see that he is a very private and normal person, but because he is reclusive (he said it himself in the interview), he comes off as distant & intimidating, but according to all people who actually know him/work with him or met him, he is very warm and very funny guy. Tom Hardy said about Bale from Tom Hardy - Rise of a Legend book ''He's big lad, Christian. He's not messing around. I just pull faces and wear tights for a living, do you know what I mean? I'm not a fighter'' he told Empire Magazine '' He's tougher than I am in real life. I love Christian. He is brilliant. He's really good fun. He's a brilliant character actor, and not at all alpha male in the way that there's not enough limelight for everybody to shine around him. He has tremendous humility as a performer. It's a breath of fresh air to work with somebody like that''. Caitriona Balfe said the same about working with Bale on Ford vs Ferrari, that he is such a warm, friendly&great guy.
James Mangold gave a great IndieWire interview about the film and Bale, one great quote: '' I felt the role was close to Bale and prayed he would do it. He’s a model to me of artistic perseverance and flexibility. He'll text you with thoughts and free associations about the character. It's all incredible food. He’s a wonderful father, loving husband, great friend. He’s not interested in being famous. He drives a pickup truck, he’s grounded in the world, he raced motorcycles but had to stop when he got hurt, when he had kids. There are so many parts of Ken in Christian, who’s a perfectionist. He’s trying to achieve something for himself. It's magical to direct someone like that because they draw you into their own idealism. You feel that energy; it permeates the set. '' and its true, see these interviews ruclips.net/video/R4yshe6h2FA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/YIeQthxGtoE/видео.html , Bale is talking about his famous old Toyota and why he is still driving it, Bale is such a humble and down to earth guy, but he reveals himself very rarely in interviews

This anecdote about what Cheney said about 'Vice' is hilarious. '' No Christian, there was no humor in it whatsoever '' 🤣I love Christian Bale's dark, witty, sarcastic and self-deprecating humor, which he actually shows in every speech or interview. Brilliant actor, humble and funny as hell. I found these Bale's quotes hilarious&brilliant : To be honest, it was only a couple of years ago that I finally decided to stick at acting. Before that, I used to think, "I don't want to do this any more - I want to quit. I hate it." It's such a silly job. Some days I'd think I should be doing something much more important than this. I'd like to say acting is a meaningful and difficult job but it's actually damn easy and pretty pointless. Sometimes I love it but other days I think, "This sucks.".
on being called a 'star': I'm embarrassed when people say things such as 'star'. It's so vacuous. What if it was the apocalypse right now? What use would I be to anybody? Most people have definite skills but I'd be going 'Yeah, you know what? I'm going to pretend to be somebody else'. That's a great leveller. Ultimately, I'm useless.
''I'm just a stupid actor '' - Bale's speech on the occasion of the celebrating Chinese human rights activist, who was persecuted in China because he opposed forced abortion.
I never laugh at the punchline
I like being kept in the dark myself. You know, like mushrooms: Keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em shit. See, I think that's an enjoyable vegetable to be.
Asked what his wife thought about the mental and physical transformation he undergoes for his roles, Bale replied jokingly: "She gets to sleep with a whole bunch of different men. So, maybe it's not so bad."
“I was asked to do a romantic comedy recently and I thought they’d lost their minds. Cats have those insane half hours every evening. I think it must have been that for the production company. I don’t know why anyone would ever offer me a romantic comedy. I find American Psycho very funny.”
I'm accustomed to not having any map for my life. I'd be reaching for an Uzi if I knew what was going to happen every day. If anybody tells me I shouldn't jump, of course all I want to do is jump and show it can be done.
I don't think I was particularly in need of superheroes. I never had any fascination with Superman or Spider-Man or a Batman kind of character. If it happened at all, it was imagined characters that I had invented. My dad was a role model for me. He was a fascinating man. There was intrigue and entertainment growing up with him. He gave me an edict that I still pursue: "Life should never be boring".
In his speech at Golden Globes a year ago, he was great: he is devoting a majority of his speech unsentimentally to his wife, Sandra, and their two children, spoofing celebrity entitlement by nicknaming them “Banana and Burrito” for public consumption, and sending up his edgy reputation by dubbing himself the go-to-guy for playing “a charisma-free asshole”. Even the quip about his “so-so career” had a winning humility. Geezer Bale is one of his best.
    The guy is brilliant.

Bale is one of my favorite actor. Saw him first time in my teens in this little known movie called Equilibrium, the movie it was standard fare scifi action but I remember thinking the lead had some acting chops. And then I saw him again co star in one of my favorite director (Nolan)'s movie called The Prestige. Thats when I knew, this one is a very serious actor and I would try watch every movie he has been in. I have to say the when I saw him in Ford V Ferrari, I couldn't believe this was the guy that played Batman! The true immersion into the character he plays is astounding (and I imagine enacts a heavy psychological toll)...
Damon has been on of my favorites for a long time. Not much I can say that hasn't been said and is known about the man. Great actor, great person and love every time him and Kimmel are acting up on camera.

the fight scene between them made me imagine if the movie was actually more in-line of a comedy drama, given like ken miles' behaviour in the movie, from throwing the wrench, denting his trunk, etc..

  • @keepingupwiththehalsteads805
    @keepingupwiththehalsteads805 5 лет назад +19

Bale just gave an interview to Denver Post and he explains what his Miles role was about and his accent, I also love his humbleness : ''Bale says that he knows that while he didn’t necessarily act like Miles might’ve in certain situations, he felt it fit the character. He explains, “I utilized that Ken Miles was not a strong, silent type. I’m quite certain that I overplayed just how much he expressed himself within the car. But it felt very in keeping with the man I had been told so much about and read about outside of the script.”
Curiously, it has been quite some time since the English actor has played an English character on screen. When asked when was the last time he spoke with an English accent in a film, Bale replied: “I haven’t really thought about it, but I think it’s been at least since (2006’s) The Prestige, so probably almost 15 years since I’ve played British. But I have lived in America longer than I’ve lived in Britain. And I completely understand that many Americans won’t necessarily be able to hear the difference, but the area of England that Ken Miles came from is radically different than my own accent. I have a bit of a mess of an accent from living in many different towns and from what I do for a living. A few people have said, ‘It must have felt nice to speak in your own voice,’ and sometimes I just say ‘Yes.’ But the truth is that it’s as different as someone from the Bronx doing a Texan accent.” Another aspect of the production that helped Bale get into character was that director James Mangoldutilized practical and tangible set pieces whenever possible. He explains, “For me, because I lack any kind of considered technique, I’m constantly striving to stay in that space.'” - Christian Bale
Also, read this review of his Miles role, it's spot on : www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2020-01-16/performances-christian-bale-ford-v-ferrari
